  1. He was annoyed with himself, that was the reaction. It wasn't petulance towards anyone/anywhere else, just internal frustration.
  2. I was right in front of this, 2nd row of the JW, by the Blackburn End and I honestly found the opposite. Well, from the wrong players. Brittain was sticking it into the top corner pretty much every shot. Both Whartons showed good finishing as well. The forwards didn't fare as well, Leonard in particular wasn't getting much on his shots and they were easy saves for the GK.
  3. We didn’t - he’ll be our first choice for years, but for some reason Pears hasn’t been dropped yet. I was sat in line with where their 2nd was hit from, haven’t seen it back but it felt a soft one to concede. There were a lot of positives, but it’s hard to really take any pleasure from them when you’ve been beaten 1-3. Also, Dolan really needs to not play for the first team for a while.
  4. I'm not surprised to see either Southampton or Leeds struggle, it's a very tough transition from Prem to Championship. Predicted both would struggle to finish top 6, pre season.
  5. It started before then - the Trust were neglecting the club long before the incumbents got their hands on the club.
  6. I think that's harsh - Leonard's pass wasn't the best (too far ahead), he was on the angle and it was a difficult chance. Dolan's 2 however, I'd have genuinely scored either/both. I think Telalovic will score if he gets the chances.
  7. Throw him in (Telalovic). He can finish, so lets create chances for him and see what happens. Is he missing either of those absolute sitters than Dolan had at the weekend? Is he balls.
  8. Szmodics works well in the 10 because he finds the space created by the players ahead of him. For example, the first goal against Boro doesn’t happen without Gallagher’s decoy run; he doesn’t have space to run into and shoot. Very difficult for him to create space for himself in the same way.
  9. My thinking with Hedges that, as a left footed player, he wouldn't have to constantly cut inside as he does on the right. With either SG or Telalovic in the middle, an early whipped cross wouldn't go amiss. But either way, Dolan shouldn't start on Weds.
  10. If anything dodgy was genuinely going on, it'd be picked up during annual audits. And would have been long before now.
  11. The first 6 months of JDT's reign were absolutely not terrible. They were inconsistent, which considering we were transitioning in style, as well as new players, should be expected. But the fact that we stuck around in the top 6 for almost the entire season is testament to how well he did.
  12. I expect us to win, because we're a decent side and we're at home. Play like we did for the first 60 minutes against Boro and we'll get a positive result. Dolan can't start this one, or at the very least in that position. Even switch Hedges and Dolan over if we must persist with him in current form. Pears keeps his place after Boro. Back line unchanged. I'd like a Tronstad or Garrett in a deep holding/BWM position, with Wharton further up the field.
  13. Wilcox was a vital part of the title winning side, alongside Ripley on the opposite flank. Anyone who 'didn't rate' him, were - quite frankly - wrong.
  14. Totally agree on Brittain, by the way. For me, him, Carter and Wharton are the three who I think are more likely to make the step up. Hyam and Szmodics as maybes.
  15. You'd like to think that there will be repercussions for the linesman involved there. Embarrassing level of incompetence at a basic level of your job. Fortunately it didn't change the outcome of the match, but it went close.
  16. The overplayed pass, when he was offside? That's the only chance I can think of. Hardly a sitter, or glaring miss though.
  17. He's the ideal Rovers player; a good blend of Arte and Labore. His goals have been vital - none moreso than his 2 today - and his market value has easily doubled, maybe tripled.
  18. The irony being that he was fine - certainly some good touches, setting Szmodics clean through for a 1-on-1 at one point. He didn't get any real chances, but I remain optimistic that we did our due diligence with him.
  19. Watford away shows that we have a Plan B for certain games (and it worked to perfection) 👍
  20. The hope is that his history has been due to a combination of the player not looking after himself properly (alcohol / etc) and Plymouth's medical science team not being adequate enough. Barring the serious broken fibula injury from a few years ago, obviously. Let's see what magic Ben Rosen and team can work on him, in terms of strengthening his body in the coming weeks and months.
  21. Just had a scan of one of the Boro forums and, despite the depression of how bad they are, they were all in agreement that we were, by far, the better side and should have won by several. Almost all admitted that Dieng was their best player. Quite a few admiring glances in Szmodics' direction also.
  22. Very, very good for most of that match. But we sat far too back and were too slack once they got one (illegitimate) back. But we hung on and just about got over the line. Thank fuck for Szmodics, eh? Thought the new lad up top looked ok. Some good, some average. Definitely wasn’t out of his depth, which is a good sign on his debut.
  23. Good first half, but we should be 3 or 4 up. Dolan’s chance was harder to miss - Gallagher’s not far behind. Thought Brittain was excellent, I’ve been a big fan since he joined. Pears deserves credit as well, he’s been good so far. Just feels like we’re carrying players, like Dolan, Gallagher and Hedges. If we want to be in the top 6, these guys just aren’t good enough. Hopefully a good second half and 3 points.
  24. Considering he moved his family over here, has settled in the Whalley area and has even got local school places for his boys, it’s hard to imagine that he’s battering the door down to leave. He will go if/when he receives a much better offer - no difference to any of us in our own careers. But I can’t see him leaving any time in the immediate future.
  25. Last summer, 100%. Halfway through the previous season (when he'd hit 20 by January), absolutely not. At that time, he was central to what we thought was going to be a promotion push - and it would have been madness to sell him (unless he was actively pushing for a move).
