  1. VAR gives that penalty decision every time, however I thought the ref got it right in real time. The dramatic dive to the floor, after the minimal contact, is why it wasn't given - their lad can only blame himself. And as for Wharton's, the linesman was directly in line with the players and he didn't feel it was offside. I've not seen it from his direct view, but I suspect the 2-man wall was just playing Wharton on. Who cares, decisions were made and we got the win; onto Saturday we move.
  2. Delighted for him, but Morton or BBD deserve it. Very nice debut though, thought he did well.
  3. Agreed on this. Seems a strange one - he's not been consistently outstanding, but he's been a good squad addition and gives us something different. I think he'll play his part over the course of this season.
  4. BBD moves so quickly and strongly with the ball. Should have used his head for that Sam S cross though!
  5. Comfortable - and better than Ash Phillips did at the weekend, to be fair.
  6. I think you can possibly thrown Hyam into that - and Hedges isn't far off either.
  7. Turned £5 into £115 with that Wharton goal 😄 Morton being on a yellow makes me nervous - I'd switch him for A.Wharton.
  8. JDT has played at levels way above what TM managed - he knows that, even at the top level, if young lads are good enough, they swim when they're thrown in. Adam Wharton being the perfect example.
  9. Just seen the bit of BBD's celebration - giving the Sunderland fans the 'shhh' and laughing at them. Good lad.
  10. I thought he'd done quite well, some tidy touches and hasn't done anything wrong. The wingback switch has worked really well first half, all credit when it's due. I think Carter looks more ready than Phillips at the moment (unsurprisingly, considering their ages).
  11. Maybe let's see how it goes first, eh? Edit to add: Brittain has looked pretty good in the first 10 minutes, at LWB.
  12. As much as I like Dack, couldn't agree more. Team always comes before the individual. Though JDT could probably help the situation by giving an honest reason as to why he's not starting games.
  13. Fair point, and I did - he's had plenty of criticism, but he's been pretty consistently good for a number of weeks now. Does look like it's Hedges tonight, so if he has that 'free' role again, it could be an extra body in attack.
  14. Really? Second half of Boro aside, he's been one of our best players over the last couple of months. Seems to have got up to speed and he's been playing well.
  15. Pleased to see Garrett get his chance. Hedges at LWB is interesting, but happy to see it in action before I pass any judgement.
  16. I actually remember that - I was only a kid, but remember offering Tim Flowers a bit of my Yorkie in the warm up. Declined, for some reason. Sure we got beat 0-2 at their place in the cup, around the same time as well.
  17. This. I can't make Tuesday due to work commitments, but he'd get a brief applause pre-game from me, in recognition of the good things he did for us (and there were some big ones). However, hopefully he'll be serenaded with a 'Tony, what's the score' by the end of the 90 minutes. We're a point off top and playing a newly promoted side; it's a game we must win.
  18. I've said all along, if you put him in the right positions and supply him, he will score goals. He's far removed from the Chris Browns and Ashley Wards, however limited he is in certain areas. I like Sam; he's honest and hardworking, a nice lad and will end the season on 10-15 goals - to say he's playing mainly as a 'wide forward', that's not bad at all.
  19. He really is, I've been very impressed with him.
  20. Fulham at home last season was the first time I'd encountered anything like that as a Rovers supporter, in my lifetime. Seen us dish out plenty of thrashings, but it was a new event to see it happen to us - one I have no desire to see anytime soon again.
  21. Excellent point. The world was imploding at one point, if you listened to the noises from some quarters - even after we'd done our business. But on these two in particular, they are both clear upgrades. And, for what it's worth, I'd rather have A.Wharton over Rothwell every day of the week.
  22. First half he was very good - and he's been very solid for a number of weeks now. Introduction of Jones down their right in the second half, Pickering struggled for sure.
  23. If it wasn't for that defensive lapse at the end of the first half (or if SG buries that header for 3-0), that second half would have been a lot more comfortable. But we hung on - 3 points. We'd have all taken that today. Icing on the cake being a Lenihan OG.
