Another decent day out made worse by being coerced into attending the match. Dont feel I can really comment on the game having only endured 20 minutes of it. But for what that’s worth their no 7 dominated that. My level of interest is similar to the players level of interest. Ie minimal. I purely go for a day with the lads on the lash. In football the term big club is banded around by all sorts of minnows but with their history, fan base and honours I really do think of villa as a big club. That said villa park is the absolute pits. Anything but the home of a top club. Went down to the concourse after 35 mins. Hadn’t been served when the second got underway by which point they’d run out of all alcohol (a minimum for rovers). So after 25-30 mins of queuing at a woefully understaffed bar we buggered off to the pub where we should have stayed and saved £30.

European Championship Qualification.

To echo what others have said I do enjoy watching this group of young players. I always felt that in previous eras of “better” players they didn’t really give a toss about England and were all consumed by club rivalries. But whether it’s pride in playing for their country, playing for each other or not scarred by previous hideous failure this group seem to be different. That said I don’t expect us to win anything major it’s just nice watching a group of players who seem to have pride in the shirt. Far removed from toxic situation of Rooney swearing at fans at response to the fans getting on the players backs, etc. As a side note noticeable booing of the black players. Had England fans done that expect hefty fine and talk of expulsion from every tournament under the sun. But with the double standards uefa they will no doubt dismiss it as well it’s the Balkans/Eastern Europe what do you expect and move on. -

In European qualifiers lost 3-2 to Croatia in 2007. In World Cup qualifiers lost 1-0 to Ukraine in 2009. -

I’d be amazed if she gives rovers a seconds thought. Just something she bought once (probably wish she hadn’t) which requires a bit of cash every now and again. Everything about their tenure would suggest at best their apathy is such that success and failure are both met with a shrug of the shoulders and at worse their incompetence suggests deliberate sabotage. -
Don’t have much sympathy for the brum fan but if he’d have done it to me outside a pub and a policeman witnessed it he’d probably get arrested (unless the Bobby’s shift was coming to an end) but almost certainly wouldn’t be sent to prison. And had a Birmingham player punched Grealish in exactly the same way he’d be sent off banned by the fa but I’d be very very surprised if he was ever arrested let alone jailed.

I think a football banning order is a minimum of 3 years maximum of 5. But I’d be astonished if this bloke doesn’t go to prison. I would think he’ll be charged with common assault therefore maximum sentence is 6 months. If he pleads guilty (no other option) he’s entitled to 1/3 off his sentence so can only get a maximum 4 months. If he’s got no previous convictions they’ll take that into account but as it’s a very public crime they might look to make an example of him.

Very apt. Thinking about it if there was merit in talk we’d have had a decade of sustained success.

This is all going a bit Gary Bowyer. Harmless blokes at the helm taken the club as far as they could yet with the venkys no one has any faith in a competent decision. With Bowyer it dragged on and I started to really dislike him I hope this doesn’t drag on in the same vein.

Pathetic.

1 point from 21 possible. Had we gone gung ho in these games and to hell the consequences it wouldn’t have been worse but we set up negatively and do nothing anyway.
-
Kevin included.

Looking at 3 home games without a goal....

I like tony but this is beyond parody now and I’m starting to think he’s lost the players. Think the venkys will be making a managerial decision sooner rather than later. Time to unleash their blind dart throwing monkey.

Are we not also the only club to win a major trophy in 3 different centuries. I genuinely don’t think rovers are anywhere near a big club (I quite like the small club bloodying the nose of the big boys mantra) but having pne fans thinking they’re remotely similar or bigger is laughable
-
I’ll add the caveat I know lots of pne fan all of whom are realistic and have decent grasp on football realities. But reading the visitor here you’d think they were all drongos
-
Really. I’m curious what exactly defines pne as a big club in your eyes? Is it honours? 4 major trophies the last of which you would have to be of an age where you lived through World War Two to witness it. Is it fan base? Because lurching from 4,000-10,000 home gates pretty much throughout the clubs history doesn’t seem anything to shout about http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/pne.htm History perhaps? Founder members of the football league but still new comers by comparison. Or maybe we should define a big club to be a large one off away following for game 15 miles away in your best season for a generation.

I see that Ramprakash has been sacked as batting coach. Hard to argue that it’s the wrong decision. Our batting has terrible for years. So he is either partly responsible or unable to have a positive impact.

City or Liverpool to win the premier league

Not many teams I want to win the premier league less than Liverpool. Plus I find it funny they don’t have that particular trophy in their cabinet. -
Match Thread Rotherham away

He talks about our inability to head the ball away in the absence of lenihan but don’t we have one such implement in the form of Downing. I’m not saying he’s the answer to the defensive issues but he could do that job surely. -
Lancashire are playing a county championship home game vs Durham at Sedbergh school, Cumbria. Seems a strange one to me. Few thoughts 1 it’s not (nor ever has been) in Lancashire. 2 50-80 miles away from the bulk of towns/cities in Lancashire. 3 facilities/pitch will be debatable. 4 no transport links. 5 no accommodation. 6 minimal connections between the school and lccc. 7 a massive slap in the face to our traditional out grounds and those clubs like Preston cc even bloody Whalley cc who obviously never get a look in. 8 taking the piss out of the members expected to go up there. Classic Lancashire ccc thinking. This decision seems to be for no reason other than Paul Allott’s hubris in thinking after 155 years we can suddenly grow the game in Lancashire’s favour in deepest darkest Cumbria. They can forget branching out. They ought to try looking after the people in the exiting catchment area. 8,500 members down since turn of the century...

So true. I would also include slates, wooden boards and chips inside those miniature shopping trolleys. The mrs love all these type of places I haven’t plucked up the courage for fear of her wrath but I always want to ask the waiter if I can guarantee my food comes on a circular plate. These days restaurants go to great length to detail provenance of food to influence your choice. I’d like a brief description on what I’ll be eating it on and with what.

That’s a corker. 90s shite like the rest of us. I must admit in 1995 seeing uncle jack lifting the premier league trophy I thought to myself yep we’re just like that division 4 team 15 miles away. Even the first half of the 60s mid table top division side. 70s pretty shite decade hence will have played pne regularly. 80s Id be astonished if we were in the same division more than a couple of seasons. So basically in the 70s we were shite just like Preston.
