  1. He'd also require compo if we signed him, no idea on the level it would take but I think we can forget it.
  2. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25314186.blackburn-rovers-transfer-plan-callum-brittain-bids/ From the horses mouth, no less.
  3. Definitely a dangerous game they are playing. Shipping out plenty of championship experience in favour of unknown players from abroad, could end spectacularly badly this season.
  4. As per JDT's remit, VI will only have 2 jobs: 1. Develop players 2. Stay in the Championship Much less money to be made from players sales in League One. They don't want relegation but there is clearly no desire for promotion either.
  5. Yep, agreed. The manager has now admitted we are in a transitional phase, which we were not planning on being in. I think the indications from Brittain's, Tronstad's & Travis' camp have been, we are not signing new deals. So we're now looking to move all of them on and replace with cheaper, younger alternatives.
  6. Was just about to post the same thing. Interesting quotes from the article: So, we have already changed this summers plan and are now, apparently, in a transition period. We want to reduce the average age of the squad. Batth and Weimann were probably never really staying, especially as we re-signed Forshaw, if we are looking at younger players. Tronstad turns 30 next month, so I suspect there is little appetite from the club to sign him back up. As Brittain is on his way out (27) and replaced with a 23 year old, I suspect that the club are in no rush to sign Travis (27, 28 later this year) up either.
  7. Is that holding the club to ransom? I thought he was told he wouldn't get as much game time as he was hoping for, had an opportunity to go on loan and took it? Don't tell me that the club weren't happy to offload his wages for 6 months.
  8. When has Trav held the club to ransom?
  9. Sign Alebiosu on Thursday and on Friday Brittain has suddenly downed tools, as if Boro had just emerged out of no where. I suspect Boro have been in contact with Brittain for some time, hence why he was "close" to signing a new deal 3 weeks ago, which never happened. The club will have been after a right back anyway but i'm sure they were aware of Brittain's desire to leave, and so moved for Alebiosu as his replacement, once it was clear he wasn't staying. Let's not forget that the club instantly turned the whole situation back onto Brittain by saying he chose not to play. Now the majority of fans (on social media at least) aren't bothered about him going, calling him a snake etc. or "he's only had 1 good season". Job done from the clubs point of view. Might get a loan from the prem later in the window as cover but yeah, Alebiosu is CB's replacement, 100%. Edit: Also, how many times do we sign a player and in their interview they say they've known about our interest in them for a long time. These things don't just happen overnight.
  10. We were "in talks" with Ajax about Sivert Mannsverk about a week ago as well.
  11. Correct. We won't be bringing in anyone else to play RB. I don't see how we even could do, the budget is set, none of the money received for CB will be reinvested. We haven't budgeted for a new first choice RB. Suspect, Alebiosu, Duru and Mongomery will be our right backs for the season. Carter at a push to play there if needed/injuries etc. allow for it.
  12. Funny how these "club are keen to sort a new contract for Hyam" stories have suddenly appeared following the unwelcome news that Brittain is off. Interestingly, why weren't the club so keen to negotiate a new contract with Hyam when we activated his 1 year option? Why not just sit down and thrash out a new deal at that point?
  13. He’s already said previously that he wants to keep Brittain, Hyam, Travis, Tronstad, Hedges, Dolan, Weimann, Batth and Forshaw. how many of those is actually going to keep? Hyam, Forshaw and Hedges, probably. 3 have already gone, 1 more in the next couple of days and there are more rumours of Trav and Tronstad leaving than staying.
  14. Hyam set to sign like Brittain was?
  15. Yes. He won't sign a new deal here and the club "won't make the same mistake" (the irony) and will cash in on him instead.
  16. Even a reference to the guy we signed on Thursday being able to come in and play straight away from VI Not exactly a reassuring answer that they'll be bringing anyone else in, "no rush" New guy and Montgomery it is then.
  17. A trialist on the bench as well πŸ€”
  18. Jackson says no Brittain, Cantwell or Leonard.
  19. Ha, hadn't seen that reply. That's me hes shooting down πŸ˜‚
  20. No but the delusion that we will sell for Β£2.5m and spend all that on a replacement is definitely starting. Where the fuck have they been for the last 15 years? (In a coma it seems)
  21. Quite a few Rovers fans on X shifting the blame onto Brittain now it seems.
  22. Agreed. Also agreed. Now i reckon we'll lose 2 of the 3 this summer alone. And then, we're in deep shit.
