We're a development club now and frustratingly, not just for our academy players.

I'm not saying there is a longer term plan, just that I could possibly understand the stance about not focusing on the play offs if there was but I think if you find yourself in a position where you have a good chance of making the play offs come the end of the season, you have to shift the thinking somewhat. It's a chance we might not get again for some time and the rewards are obvious. As I said above the clubs being relegated at the end of the season make promotion borderline impossible next season. But yeah your post, as usual, is spot on.

I can, kind of understand it IF there is a longer term plan at work here BUT it shouldn't be understated how good an opportunity we have this season to make the play offs and when these opportunities come around, you've surely got to make the most of it. In addition to that, you look at the bottom 8 clubs in the premier league at present: Forest, Leicester, Leeds, West Ham, Wolves, Bournemouth, Everton and Southampton, 3 of those coming down next season will all be going back up again, which makes an assault on promotion next season almost impossible.

Yep, injury is a good shout but then by that logic, he's hardly going to give 100% for the rest of the season.

Am guessing his main position is Attacking Mid, just behind the striker? A place which he has now lost, and would always lose, to a fit again Bradley Dack. As you say poor deal really. Seems like he was brought in to fit into a style of play, which we don't seem to play 🤷🏻‍♂️

It would be abysmal planning from GB and his team if they didn't have alternative targets lined up. As usual, all we can do is play the waiting game. Really hope we do get a striker in though.

Like JPVH, it feels like spending £2.5m would be fairly low risk and would likely yield a profit down the line.

Tbf, Sharpe could very well be wrong. Sometimes it feels like he's the clubs mouthpiece, could very well be playing it down in an effort to keep it under the radar. Who knows 🤷‍♂️

Good to see us moving for a striker. Don't know anything about him, his goal scoring record (purely looking at numbers) looks a tad underwhelming but hopefully he has more about him than Gallagher.

Yeah, I don't know why either. Surely the discussions about what players we are going to try and sign happened ages ago. JDT will have had his input and now it's up to GB and his team to deliver. The game shouldn't impact it too much. *From our point of view at least

A quick Google search suggests he is close to joining WBA according to multiple news sites.

Even if it's true, with Boro and WBA keen, it's unlikely we'll be signing him.
