  1. Tomasson seems like an intelligent chap, more so than his recent predecessors, and a trait of intelligent people is they can see when something isn't working and they change it. He must see now that his obsession with passing game ideology, especially away from home, doesn't work in the Championship because we don't have the players to do it and it's a tough league full of gritty, hard-working teams and managers who will soon find you out Starting with the next away game, I want to see a change of tactics, or at least a willingness to mix our game up more. We cannot carry on like this because it clearly isn't working. Over to you, Mr Manager
  2. You don't get it It's a Project It'll all be fine in 5 years Or maybe not
  3. It's been noted by another poster but one of the basic truths about this squad is that there is a basic lack of quality. Some of the players just aren't good enough; we have some decent Championship defenders but in midfield and up front we are sorely lacking. The manager's tactics and strange selections don't help but there's only 4 or 5 players that are up to the requisite standard. We're destined to be stuck in mid table as long as that is the case
  4. We weren't good enough to win it but we shouldn't have lost either. More fannying around in defence has cost us again. The manager is to blame because he wants us playing that way. Watching Rovers at present is as bad as anything under Mowbray. Tomasson smiles when we're losing though - which is very nice
  5. Hands up who's enjoying the Tomassson "project"?
  6. Can't see us turning this round. It's been tripe all night really. Wigan haven't won at home and there was only likely to be one outcome once BRFC turned up
  7. The Wigan curse continues. It's pathetic
  8. Tyler Morton rubbish rubbish rubbish
  9. And pass it 20 times instead of crossing it. We need a good old fashioned winger
  10. Brilliant ball by Pickering; rubbish by Brereton
  11. The players are doing what they're told to do by the manager
  12. Brittain, Dack, Gallagher (cough) on; Szmodics, Hirst, Hedges off
  13. He's given the ball away more often than not, first touch is very poor. Most of the rest of the team have been just as bad
  14. Hirst and Szmodics?? Is there some masterplan to end the 90 minutes with a stronger team on the field than the one that started?
  15. Take Szmodics off, gives it away most of the time
  16. TV commentators put the curse on Wharton there
  17. Goal coming. Wigan peerless at present
  18. Are you watching the match? He's done nothing wrong
  19. Wigan not won at home this season according to TV We know what's coming
  20. I wouldn't start with Szmodics and I don't know why the awful Hirst merits a start either. The best footballer in the club, Brittain, is on the bench again. If it works and we win that's fine. But it's odd
  21. Condescending. Probably written by a southerner I wouldn't cross the road to watch a Champions League match but a would for a Championship match - especially a Lancy derby We have to break the WL cycle sometime and we haven't won at Wigan in donkey's years - so against the odds and my glass half empty nature let's go for a Rovers win Wigan 1 Rovers 2
  22. England 2 West Germany 3, World Cup quarter-final 1970 Probably the most shattering defeat in my lifetime. England were 2-0 up and cruising, then Alf Ramsey took Bobby Charlton off and it all changed. England were a better team than they were in 1966, including the great Sir Keith, and it went horribly wrong. Horrendous to watch and it still hurts now
  23. 5-0 defeat at home to Manchester United in 1964-65. Charlton scored three, Law was brilliant. It was awful, it really upset me and as a youngster I couldn't handle it.
