Shelvey, probably the best passer of the ball in the Premier League, is the standout omission for me. Would have taken him instead of Delph or Lingard. Cahill and Stones makes silly mistakes. Smalling is a much better player than both.

Question marks over both but it would help if they were played in their best positions. Armstrong is best down the middle and Payne is best with a free role in midfield. Payne gave us all sorts of problems in the match at Oxford and although I haven't seen him hit that form for us yet the potential is there.

I was replying to Chaddy (who else?) and pointing out that every penny counts to some people, to the extent they have to use food banks, and that a £50 season-ticket increase would probably stop them going to football.

Mowbray's quote was taken out of context but what he was saying is that Rovers will come under embargo if the club's revenues do not improve in the future. That's a pretty important story.

If the quote has been made up, and the story isn't true, the club should say so to stop rumours spreading.

Speculative stories don't need a response but there is a direct quote from Mowbray which gives a the story credence. Just because you don't like the journalist for some reason or the substance of the story doesn't mean it is not true or it can be ignored.

The club needs to put out a statement immediately confirming or denying this story. Have to say it is worrying there is a direct quote from Mowbray. Even the Sun wouldn't normally make those up

Neil Warnock, not considered good enough to manage Rovers by the Ewood hierarchy, today chalked up another promotion on his CV by leading Cardiff City into the Premier League. i don't know how Ribery does it. Not only is he often the best player on the pitch, he is also the fastest. He's giving more than 10 years to many of the defenders he's up against yet leaves them for dead with pace, as well as skill. Gordon Strachan, another winger, said he changed his game and his diet when he got older to compensate for the lack of spring in his legs but Ribery shows no sign of ageing. Many wingers move into midfield too when they get older because they can't get past defenders any more. Conway obviously loves his football and still has alot to offer in my opinion, but he needs to rethink how he plays the game.

You haven't been watching Franck Ribery playing for Bayern this season. He's 35 yet often looks the fittest and fastest (and best) player on the pitch - he gave the Real defence the runaround in the recent semi-final. Age isn't a factor as much as hunger and enthusiasm for the game and keeping oneself very fit. Conway looks as if he could lose a pound or two.

Older players are as much a gamble as young Under-23s - Tony Mowbray please note. Are they still hungry to play the game and for success or are they going through the motions for one last big payday ? We've had few of the former and plenty of the latter over the years. The manager needs to talk to these players thoroughly and make a judgment

Pretty much agree except for Antonsson (no thanks) and Nuttall (not certain he's good enough for the L1 never mind the Championship). Conway has to be a question mark too. He's 32/33 but plays much older. Whittingham is a puzzle - classy player and proven goalscorer in the Championship. Is he worth persevering with or is he too old and his desire gone ? . We need 5 at least Championship (or better) quality players in.

When are the Australian bowlers going to confess that they knew about the cheating plot too ? There's no way that a captain would make an arbitrary decision to rough up the ball without consulting his bowlers.

Smith's cheating, to plan and take sandpaper on to the field of play with the intent purpose of altering the surface of the ball, is an entirely different level to those two. And Atherton and Trescothick's is nothing compared to the systemic cheating in Asian cricket, which you've failed to mention. The whole truth has still not come out to my mind. There's no way the Australian bowlers would not have known about this. As a former bowler, I'd have been fuming if my team-makes had been tampering with the ball without my knowledge. The Australians have been known for their lack of sportsmanship for decades, which is why there's generally a feeling of schadenfreude around the world at this furore. Basically, the cheats have been found out and the low esteem in which they were held has sunk even lower..
