  1. According to you that's open to debate.......
  2. Is he allowed to make decisions? I'm told the only reason Coyle got the boot this week was because the Slumdog billionaires were in the UK and gave the consent for his sacking. Nothing happens apparently when they're at home in India and out of contact most of the time.
  3. Not my choice and he's lucky to get the chance to manage our great club considering his track record but if he gets us out of the mess created by Coyle he'll deserve alot of credit. Good luck Tony Mowbray.
  4. Alex Ferguson mode - "It's pathetic when teams always raise their game against us". Wales haven't played like that in years. Well done England though, they made one mistake near the end and we punished them.
  5. Classic relegation team to lose a game in the dying minutes. Seen it so many times in Rovers teams in the past. I'd be amazed if we survive this season; there's certainly some other very poor teams at the bottom but we're no better.
  6. Another day, another defeat. But there's light at the end of the tunnel because Mercerman promised Coyle would be sacked.
  7. Cardiff 2 up v Preston. Lambert's revival of Wolves continues 2 up at Barnsley
  8. Clough turned down Forest to stay at Burton according to the Beeb. Meanwhile, Wolves have smashed their transfer record by paying £13 million to secure permanent signing of winger Helder Costa from Benfica. No wonder Lambert left us.
  9. Unless they're outstanding it's asking alot sticking young kids into a relegation battle. People like Danny Graham are going to keep us in this division. Ideally we can survive this season and we can bring them through next year. Good to hear that the Under-23s is producing players who appear good enough for first team football though.
  10. Staggering really....rookie manager who'd done nothing to justify that sort of money. Staggering also that Venky's were so innocent as to sanction his wages, presumably at the recommendation of the dastardly agents. It is possible (briefly) to feel sorry for the Indians because of their naivety but their arrogance and incompetence over 6 years soon banishes those thoughts
  11. Never understood this - these people get paid good salaries so it's not unreasonable to expect them to move to the area they work in. Mourinho's the same. Ans it's not as if Birmingham is far from Manchester anyway - less than 2 hours door to door by car or train.
  12. Who was that big Spanish lump from the Souness era - Yordi ? And there was a Spanish left winger whose name escapes me. Orr wasn't a bad player but probably had the worst attitude of any player I've seen at Ewood. I'd have lumped him in training in my playing days.
  13. And MY opinion is you don't know your googlies from your Chinamen. Great performance by England today - far too many "foreign" players in the team obviously.
  14. Nonsense. There are lots of players with dual nationalities through their parents - Stokes, Strauss, Pietersen among many others. And why should the dad's nationality be more important than the mother's ? It's a global marketplace - people move around and settle in other countries. Your stance is straight from the myopic UKip England for the English policy manual.
  15. Jennings holds British citizenship through his mother, who was born in Sunderland. How that's for "plastic" ? Rubbish In that case Ted Dexter would have played for Italy and Colin Cowdrey for India.
  16. Yep, but perhaps Coyley can get Lowey and Co to break the mould. If not they'll revert to being Coyle and Lowe again.
  17. The advantage of that team is that Ali is better at No 7 and there is runs in it from 5 to 10. But it is still a very brittle top order; Duckett looks nervous at Test level while Billings is not a Test No 4 either. It's not difficult to see a 4-0 rout here unless England can make at least 400 in the first innings - which they have failed to do consistently for many years now.
  18. Important game this weekend, even more so than usual, because a good result would show that the the win at Newcastle was not a fluke, that the team may genuinely have turned the corner and that we have real hope we can stay up. Even a draw wouldn't be that bad. A defeat however would cancel out all the good feeling from the Newcastle match and revive all the old doubts. Come on Rovers!
  19. Ali gone cheaply again, now 47-2 after India made the sort of total England should have scored.
  20. Another below par total - England are about 100 short of where they should be. I'll say it again - Ali at No 4 is far too high and was never likely to be the solution to England's fragile top order.
  21. Ali is not a Test No 4. Seven should be his highest. And playing Buttler purely as a batsman is a huge risk too given his weakness against spin.
  22. Yeah, we get it. You don't like tennis. Alot of people consider golf boring too. Now why don't you go away and let us celebrate a world champion?
  23. Andy Murray wasn't a "rich kid" but he had very supportive parents (mother). The days when our backstreets produced top-class footballers and cricketers are long gone and the best players in most sports these days have usually had huge parental backing. This doesn't necessarily mean they have money but they certainly have in most cases made sacrifices so their offspring can prosper. Andy Murray reaching world No 1 in a sport where we have been traditionally no-hopers is a fantastic achievement and should be celebrated.
