2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂

I have never said that anyone is not aligned. I have repeatedly said that we can not possibly know either way, especially so soon. So thats wrong. I have never once said that I dont want youth players to be given a chance. I do not want arbitary targets to be set or assumptions made that we can "rely" upon players that arent yet proven. So thats wrong. And why are my predictions (if I said that) relevant to how you judge the transfer window? 90% of business done 2 weeks ago was a target (2 in, one of whom is injured). Key contracts sorted should have long since been a target. Even Batth and Weimann have left unexpectedly. Yet you gloat that despite all that, at least we may have done slightly more than what people on here thought we would. Talk about low standards. -

Wanted to play for his former manager. Wanted to be closer to home. We presented them with fair offers. There was no way of getting them to stay. We spent £5m last season. We are trying our best to give them new contracts. Everyone is aligned. Dont forget, we have (insert graduate with no senior starts) and (insert sub par player) so its not a priority. The prices are good value compared to other teams. We didnt want the players that went to other teams. All the ones we got were first choices. We cant spend tens of millions. Literally everything that comes out of the club, swallowed. -

QPR fans seem to be under the impression that he has a year with an option left at Lommel and that they are asking for a big fee. -

When TV money keeps going up (with added disdain shown to the match going fan) yet losses and owner reliance keep going up and up, you really see how the pyramid is fucked. -

It feels like the Championship transfer window is starting to get quite active. On top of some of the deals recently completed, including Riis to Bristol City (a handy pick up rather than a gamechanger) it looks like Coventry will spend a decent fee on Kesler Hayden, Hull on Louie Barry, Oxford on the Heracles midfielder we wanted, Charlton on Kaminski and Derby on that MLS striker as well as the couple of freebies from us. The average number of signings is about 2 per team so far but thats not really reflective of how some teams (Boro/Leicester/Sheff United/Ipswich/Sheff Wednesday) have been inactive mainly down to manager changes, division changes or embargoes. Whereas some have really made a big start. QPR have made a couple of very strong signings and Swansea, Norwich and PNE have all started to overhaul their squad. For us, the amount of activity we have done isnt necessarily the issue although Ismael clearly will disagree. The whole situation is built on no foundation with our core of key players being allowed to run their deals down. So we are left in limbo. -

Kapuadi has come on for Legia in their game today. So that deal clearly hasnt escalated. -

Of course we will miss him. He is our best wide man and possibly our best attacking player, although that isnt saying much. Put it this way, if we signed a player of his level from another Championship club, our fans would be excited. Even if we signed a player showing similar numbers in an inferior foreign league but with an exotic name, they would. -

You are literally just an echo chamber for what comes out of the club without the ability to develop your own opinions on what is said. Suhail and Gestede both said £4-5m was spent so you are happy with that. Gestede literally used that 10s of millions line that you are now parroting. No one is asking for that, its an attempt by Gestede to make people seem unreasonable for expecting more reinvestment by gaslighting people into thinking theyve demanding a massive warchest. As has been said, the club is skint. Look whats gone out, look whats come in. And crucially, look at the core of proven Championship players we have. Brittain, Travis, Tronstad, Hyam all going into their last year. Dolan, Batth and Weimann all out the door. We clearly are not offering reasonable, competitive Championship wages. Your usual line is to say "well our wage bill hasnt gone down from 5 years ago." Purpoesefully or otherwise dismissing inflation, £1 today doesnt equate to £1 then. Our wage bill now will be higher than our title winning side in 1995, if we are just dismissing the time value of money. Its all well and good spending small fees on players from lesser leagues abroad because their wages wont be high. -

Perhaps the deal he was offered was not befitting of a player of his level. So many players here dont sign deals put in front of them (or the ones we even bother to do that) and his last contract was signed a good while ago when he has just broke through so it wouldnt be a surprise if it was a wage offered that was not reasonable and we havent bothered to offer one since. I still cant see him going to Derby personally. -

Kaminski made a couple of mistakes in those last games before the injury he had that was hindering him finally became impossible to play with. Prior to that, he had been excellent in that season. And had already got a previously earnt player of the season. Recency bias makes people talk about him as if he was constantly making mistakes. -
Im not overlooking it. Im well aware of it. I dont think we should be making stupid changes to our game to try and appease foreign viewers. Although I still dont see the benefit that people get from hearing what a substituted player has to say or getting a glimpse into the changing room. Eventually they will move our kick off times to suit foreign fans, I have no doubt.
-
We shouldnt be pandering to foreign coverage wants and needs. But either way, still to see why anyone would want to see these proposed changes. Gimmicky shite.

He is miles better than Pears and Toth hasnt proven to be better than him just yet, Kaminski is a very good Championship keeper. But it wasnt about Rovers anyway. -
Everton have Branthwaite and Tarkowski who are a solid and established pair for them, plus O'Brien who they spent big money on but couldnt dislodge them so played at right back. Forest have Milenkovic and Murillo who were right up there with the best pairings in the league. So yes. Obviously considerable drops of form and injuries are what causes back ups to come in.

https://weszlo.com/2025/06/29/kapuadi-otrzymal-od-legii-oferte-nowego-kontraktu-wszystko-jest-mozliwe/ Needs translating but appears that Kapuadi might renew his contract at Legia. -
Quansah has always looked jittery whenever I have seen him for Liverpool. Maybe the move is what he needs to push on. If Cresswell went to either Forest or Everton then he would be a back up.
-
I meant specifically because of the club world cup.
-
Wont he be too old, in which case he would be very lucky to get more caps. The purpose of this tournament is development though. The club world cup feels like overkill and unnecessary but understandable why players choose to play in that over under age football. Who is missing, Delap, Gittens and Bellingham or are there more?
-
I think it is partly due to the age cut out where you have 23 year olds playing, but its strange in that very few of those players I look at and expect many if any caps in the senior team. Our stand outs at those ages have already bypassed this age group. Livramento should get a decent amount of caps but even then, Trent is ahead. Elliott has a lot of competition and he is stand out for the under 21s. One or two others might such as Anderson, but equally the likes of Stansfield, Beadle and Cresswell would do well to get any caps.
