  1. We also know we wont bring in a midfielder. Elliott Jackson hedging his bets but we will have maxed out on loans so we wont pay a fee for anyone. Especially this late. Our strongest position is now our weakest.
  2. Im obviously gutted to see a massive talent leave but that isnt where my anger lies. Its such a big fee yet none of it will be reinvested bar maybe a loan fee. This window is the worst I can ever remember, one loanee sent back from Coventry along with their 37 year old CB, a young LB loanee from Villa, a young loanee CB from Liverpool who couldnt get a game at terrible levels and a young CB from Crewe. Then maybe after an embarassing 24 hours, a loan of a young MLS striker who is still in pre season. The massive hole Wharton leaves is compounded by a good Championship midfielder and our captain also leaving. We have one player in that position now who is good enough. Weve lost Hill aswell, Carter for the season, Pickering and Brittain for a while, we end this window so much weaker. And the frustration seems to have simmered because we are now getting a striker who is very much a long term project on a short term deal. And a token random young CB who Liverpool fans think is rubbish. And many of those angry arent angry at the source of this mess.
  3. Im not sure how you can apply for a work permit when you could only afford the loan fee after selling a player for 22m on the last day of the window. The bonus entitlement is just more ITK nonsense as far as I can see.
  4. I feel like amidst the hysteria of deadline day and of course what happened overnight, how bad this window is shaping up has been somewhat lost. I get the angle with people saying we can try before we buy with McGuire. Hes a 22 year old whose season hasnt started so hes hardly likely to hit the ground running to justify a huge fee inflated due to the fact we cant afford a buy anymore. Koumetio has had 2 loan spells at really poor levels and has barely played in either. It seems like we will be going permanently to a back 3 which considering we have 2 fit full/wing backs is a huge concern, before considering the gaping hole in midfield. Its obviously an issue of financing deals so it lands square at the feet of the owners. I dont think Broughton is a good DOF to be honest but its not down to him.
  5. Well regarded based on that first comment.
  6. There in lies the issue of low standards. The prospect of a humiliating mid flight end to the deal means that anyone questioning the likelihood of none of an 18m+ windfall will be reinvested this window is dismissed as moaning.
  7. So we are likely to spend not a penny of the Wharton money. People will say we are wise waiting until the summer and that money will never materialise.
  8. Quite possibly the usual supposed ITK scramble of rubbish on deadline day, especially as McGuire seemingly isnt there yet. Its deadline day, if you say players are at the training ground, if anyone signs, great, if not, they must have broken down/ran out of time.
  9. You have missed something. HITC reporting that we asked late on for Wharton back on loan. That Rak Sakyi is injured I think anyway. We are on plan A though. Sell Wharton, Venkys pocket the cash.
  10. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2024/02/01/sources-crystal-palace-turn-down-request-but-22m-deal-will-be-done-today/ The disagreement was due to us trying to loan Wharton back.
  11. Not that we will sign either, or likely anyone else. But I think McFadzean is permanent, albeit short term.
  12. Thats what I mean. To say deal off is beyond that there is a potential snag. It seems to have caused terminal damage to the deal.
  13. He has also listed a series of positions that we may or may not look to strengthen.
  14. The American sources wont be abrest of the Wharton situation. They wouldnt have known about a potential snag that has since been ironed out, so if that had fallen through, then that could in theory explain why we may have no longer been able to spend fees. But as others have touched on. Why would be specifically say deal off mid flight and be so definitive? That suggests maybe its not as simple as a snag that has been ironed out.
  15. Whilst you would think they should, they will be on decent contracts so its not as simple as that. They arent Rovers fans, and not choosing to becone unemployed with uncertain futures doesnt mean they have a guilty conscience.
  16. Broughton and Waggott got basically all of the blame for that. Rightly so. This idea that Venkys got it all is simply not true.
  17. The problem is, the protests will never be widespread and even if they are, sadly they are too detached to even seemingly notice. So nothing will happen anyway. We are just stuck. Itd quite incredible how anyone defends them, deflects blame from them or thinks that they are good for the club, but even if they didnt im not sure it would make a difference.
  18. I think the 2 cases may have been different, there was clearly some sort of collective cock up last year. But this one seems more cut and dry. Theres no logical reason to blame Broughton if the deal was agreed and then Venkys have vetoed the deal.
  19. The owners have blocked any fees being spent despite a club record sale and you still deflect?!
  20. @RevidgeBlue seems like this is on the owners.
  21. Why would that cause the deal to collapse?
  22. Not that it makes any difference to us but thats not a real account.
