  1. Their approach was to unveil a huge warchest to have a go but the manager declined and the money vanished. Apparently...
  2. Alan Nixon, the fountain of made up shite. Still waiting on the £50m warchest.
  3. The owners are and always have been the problem. It would be tackling the symptoms and not the disease. Not that we have any control sadly over any of them.
  4. Im guessing you like me went on all of the protests years ago. They made no difference then so I doubt they will now. They dont care about us. The Wrexham game will be a very low attendance, a cup game with little fanfare. It would create minimal publicity even if it was possible with significant numbers which it wont be. Not many people protested back in the Steve Kean days, some of those protestors will have lost interest and many especially of the new generation think we need Venkys. Are you attending and if so what would you be willing to/propose doing specifically? Or is it a case of can other people protest on your behalf? And what do you think it could lead to? Say a cup game is abandoned, do you think that after all these years is the straw that broke the camels back and they then look to sell?
  5. Venkys ruined themselves, as they always do, thus damaging us. They rejected a bid with 1 year left on his deal that would have brought in a small profit and a considerable fee.
  6. Ayari got injured? Did it look bad?
  7. I think Pickering is well down our list of problems. His obvious weakness is his lack of pace, he reads the game well and is good on the ball. Like Hyam, he doesnt seem like much of a leader though but he is definitely better than Brittain.
  8. Hes proven over a number of years to be an average Championship striker. Can be a useful part of a top half Championship side, has some good attributes, will never be prolific but will get 8-10 a season. Do you rate him lower than any of Leonard, Ennis or Telalovic? Surely not.
  9. Results seem to have got progressively worse over Tomasson's tenure as the new style has bedded in. To have the worst defensive record in the entire league is unacceptable, the defensive options are not brilliant but equally have proven peviously not to be anything close to the worst set of defenders in the league. For me, the tactics are making these defenders look worse than they actually are. I always think that set pieces reflect on what goes on in training, and ours are particularly bad. Going forward, they are usually short which I can understand due to our lack of height, but they dont appear well worked at all, off the cuff and rarely leading to chances. Against is just a total shit show. The squad is not equipped to be particularly competitive at this level. But there is no justification for the defensive and set piece records being quite so bad. He clearly isnt the primary problem at the club. The owners are and always have been. But he shouldnt be exempt from criticism. There has been a lot of focus on Broughton lately, has he improved recruitment from not having a director of football? No, obviously there is a huge asterix due to the owners having become as bad as ever in recent months. Having a director of football in general only strengthens this nonsensical attitude whereby results seem to carry less importance than ever before though.
  10. Without giving any context as to where it has come from.
  11. I take your criticism of the current defence, but I wouldnt get too doughy eyed over previous defenders that also werent capable of pushing us on. Those full backs in particular, Nyambe I know you clearly have a soft spot for, but he was not a man to be in the trenches with and was so limited. And Bell was a bomb scare, technically crap and a free pass to a winger getting crosses in. We miss Lenihan though. This set of defenders are limited, but they arent the worst set in the division or close to. The current manager deserves to be shielded by the fact that our budget has been pathetically slashed by our inept and disinterested owners. But the tactics need a change because defenders who with protection can be effective at this level are all over the shop. By the way, people on here talk about (made up) big money rumours for Carter. He is a bit of a lump.
  12. Who are "some fans?" Randomers at the game that you spoke to, randomers on twitter? These vague rumours dont help anything.
  13. The owners are clearly the ones who take the blame. This bunch of kids are not competitive enough at this level, leading to regular gutless, spineless performances like today. But Tomasson isnt blameless either and the change in style has led to hs having conceded the most in the entire league. Players like Leonard, Garrett and Moran have no place being fairly regularly on a Championship pitch. The keeper is as bad as I can ever remember.
  14. The state of that team. Obviously its on the owners how stretched we are. Only 8 subs including 2 who can only do 10 minutes each and one who will never come on. But weve just signed a left back and an attacking midfielder. When our first choices are ill, why not just bloody play them? Instead of playing 2 players out of position instead of Chrisene and Garrett as a number 10. West Brom look stretched too.
  15. Do you think Ennis, Telalovic and Leonard are better? Would you sell even if the money wasnt available to reinvest?
  16. Because amidst his limitations, he is am average Championship striker. Therefore a considerable improvement on any other striker we have.
  17. Business wise at a normal club, a fairly decent fee for a player with essentially 18 months left would make sense. Sell him on and replace. Here, people lose focus of the fact that firstly, Gallagher for all of his limitations is far better than any of our other "strikers" and that the money would vanish. So its a tough one.
  18. I didnt see such a post but if it did exist, I suspect it was as reputable as some of your pearlers. Nearly every prediction of yours is a thrashing either way.
  19. Jumping on a goalkeeper by saying hes crap on an internet messageboard he will have never heard of.
  20. When you are looking forward to the likes of Pears, Gallagher, Dolan and Hedges returning and need it as soon as possible, it perhaps shows the current state of the squad. They would all genuinely improve not only the squad but the team. Gallagher is a lot better than the other 3 strikers who all shouldn't be around the first team, Pears is a mistake waiting to happen yet somehow is less error prone than the current clown, Dolan often flatters to deceive and Hedges likewise but is a step up from the underwhelming Moran. The problem is that its unlikely that they will come back and we will avoid other injuries that will still leave us short.
  21. Are you sure it wasn't just that our managers kept declining transfer funds that the owners had put forward each winter? Awful is over the top. He was a bit underwhelming, was not the type of player we needed (we now under Venkys get who we can not what we need) and he was neat and tidy without being stand out. We did amazing to finish considering 3 regular starters that I can think of (Pickering, Gallagher, there may be more) were quite so awful!
  22. What is the Rovers way? If it involves trying to cobble together a team full of graduates and whatever loans we can cobble together, then yeah he certainly has got to grips with it.
  23. That very short memory is obviously of a string of errors and a total breakdown between keeper and defence. Its hardly a blip after an excellent start. 2 poor keepers, we need a new one. Worth reverting back to Pears in the meantime as surely even he couldnt do any worse than Wahlstedt has been doing.
  24. For anyone deluded enough to think the current squad has a chance of the play offs. 40 points from 20 games would see us to 72 points. So we are looking at automatic promotion form for a play off chance. Better get winning!
  25. I wonder why Chrisene isnt playing tonight. Is he fully fit?
