  1. Im not sure the O'Brien deal is as objective as that. But either way, hard luck stories aside, he had a task to get a striker and he didnt get a striker. It is as simple as that.
  2. Dean Smith isnt a particularly good manager and wouldnt be a good appointment. They dont need stability on what has taken them down, they need a reboot.
  3. Even amidst a relegation decider 😂
  4. Broughton didn't ruin anything by nearly signing players? Aye, ok then.
  5. Lampard will be hoping to improve on his hilariously bad record of 4 points from 8 games today against a Newcastle side that I suspect will be on the beach with players carrying knocks potentially given a day off. If Pochettino comes in, he could potentially come into some answers to their problems already at his disposal. Nkunku missed 3 months of the season and still finished as Bundesliga top scorer even though he isn't necessarily always an out and out striker and it will be interesting to see if he keeps Lukaku. He has been in and out at Inter due to Martinez and Dzeko but has still had a decent season and is still a huge upgrade on what they have. Also Levi Colwill comes back in defence after an excellent season at Brighton with Badiashille injured likely into next season. I don't think necessarily that a lot of the unnecessary players (Loftus Cheek, Pulisic, Ziyech, Mount, Aubameyang, maybe Gallagher) will be that difficult to shift necessarily.
  6. Can't see past Everton getting a win in a fixture which they would have struggled to hand pick better.
  7. Didnt get too much stick because his performances in a Rovers shirt were consistently awful. Whether he has improved or not since is irrelevant.
  8. It was! I certainly don't think they are anything but terrible owners.
  9. And normal time ended with a terrible Amarii Bell cross. Dont change. A few comments about Venkys and our comparative trajectorys post Venkys. A lot of ungratefulness towards owners who are in the top 10% of owners because they havent got us any points deductions.
  10. Bizarre videos are just the norm nowadays for player announcements. Think the very young aspect of the fanbases lap it up across the board.
  11. I think on quiet news days, they must be under instructions to say something totally random to try and coax people to ring in. Mind you, with bright sparks like Agbonlahor and O'Hara on the show, I suppose you expect such shite.
  12. I think they still have them on Talksport when literally their bunch of know nothing "pundits" say purposely provocative shite to try and get as many lunatic callers as possible!
  13. Again, a huge oversimplification to put it down to success from attacking football and failure from defensive. Conte did get them 4th last season too, Mourinho got them to a cup final but was sacked before he could take it in favour of a novice. Their criteria should be results if they have any sense, not pretty football. Task 1, get some new defenders and get them solid.
  14. Do Tottenham "need" to play pretty attacking football? Im sure a manager who got them back in the top 4 and won a trophy would "excite" their fans more. In fact, any manager who did come in would start by gutting the defence and getting shut of the likes of Dier and Sanchez.
  15. Has anyone ever said that they would prefer Wigan's owners? Simply paying the players doesn't put Venkys in the top 10% of owners in the country/league which was the sort of ridiculous claim that @philipl made.
  16. Because he isn't a very good manager IMO. A club that regularly challenge for the top 4 need better than a manager primarily responsible for taking a team down.
  17. Set pieces have definitely been an area in which I have been disappointed in a lack of progress under Tomasson in. We don't have much in the way of good delivery but even when Thomas came in we didn't improve, lots of off the cuff short corners that clearly weren't rehearsed. We don't have the biggest team but our centre backs didnt get enough goals either. If we need someone else to come in to help things, so be it.
  18. Rodgers would be a horrendous appointment. Ivan Toney is so lucky not to be banned for so much longer. Betting against his old teams.
  19. It was specifically said that Venkys having initially promised to redo the pitch changed their mind for financial reasons. Simple as that. He certainly wont be let go by the owners as they dont show enough of an interest in the club to sack underperformers.
  20. Totally agree, if he comes in, no way he stays. My worry is how much sentimentality there is in football. What is Dutch for "he knows the club?"
  21. Very left field. Rumoured to be about to join Brighton.
  22. No way will he turn down the champions of Holland who will be in the Champions League, he is a legend there, big pay rise no doubt, more money to spend, family ties, for any challenge here. If they come for him he is gone.
  23. The second paragraph assumptions implies that Venkys are logical people. We are clearly planning on making sales to generate funds, Broughton said as much. And I dont personally really see anyone else in the squad likely to generate much of a fee.
