Can you share these tweets please. He is out of contract at the end of the season, so I very much doubt that there is more to read into it than that. I think (may be wrong) that the second tweet reads like Mercer which would remove any likelihood of it being correct.

Main achilles heel implies that he has other weaknesses. That being said, I do not see enough to suggest that a lack of effort or care from him is causing any of the issues we see. It is a shame that things are becoming somewhat toxic as he did a good job initially, he seems a decent guy and he is the best manager in the last 10 years, albeit that isn't an honour to be particularly proud of. I don't doubt that he thinks that he can turn it around and that he does care but this last 18 months have been going backwards and will continue to do so.

But there is no suggestion that Mowbray genuinely "doesn't give a shit." He spends numerous days living on his own away from his family, and there is no suggestion that he doesn't put in the hours. Ultimately he is a dour man anyway, add some awkward questions about his underperforming and he is never going to give off energy and charisma. His main achilles heel has been bizarre tactical decisions that stem from overthinking, it always has been. Strange tactical choices such as 3 at the back, Clarkson almost as a false 9 etc, they have similarities to playing Bell and Williams down the left hand side at home to Oldham, saying how much he respects the Bury right back etc. Going from extreme possession football to being bottom of the same table in the next season, from one extreme to another. He is always trying to get ahead but seldom do his crazy ideas work. That is an issue of competence, not effort, and that is what we need from our manager.

Not at all. If we go one or two down, there will be moans and groans, boos, maybe "Mowbray sort it out," it might lead to a few spiky answers in a press conference. I don't see any benefit though because it will not hasten his exit. Him "making a knob of himself getting all defensive" would not be of any consolation to me whatsoever. It wouldn't make a difference, Venkys would be oblivious even if you could get mass participation which wouldn't happen. Went on numerous protests against Kean, remember all of the different ways that the action group etc got publicity, it made no difference, so a comparatively much milder protest will not make a difference. -
The Ainsworth obsession on accounts of who he supports is a little strange. Him jumping around on the sidelines or who he supported as a child would be no consolation to me if we lost games under him. The decision should not factor in who people support or how they act on the touchline. As said previously, Allardyce used to spend half the game watching from above in the stand, Coyle spent the whole game animated in full kit, who would we prefer?

It is typical management spiel really, deflection, excuses, he does to be fair repeatedly acknowledge that management is about results. The results are the issue, not what he says about the results. He is also right that we would potentially have to punch above our weight to get into the play offs. The thing is, although difficult, it is possible, Barnsley did it last season, Coventry are in there this season, there will be plenty of other examples. Under Mowbray, that is not and has never been likely or close. We have never come close under Venkys "regime" due to their repeated negligence and inability to appoint a good manager, hence how Mowbray is actually the best that they have ever appointed, which tells you all that you need to know. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-mowbray-response-form-21936604 "the side frequently embarking on patches of scintillating form" More nonsense in the Lancs Live.

I am not sure that staying at a mid table (likely bottom half) Championship side would have been a wiser choice. The grass is greener at Southampton.

Chaddy has not proven anything regarding FFP. He posted 3 years of statements of profit and losses going up to June 2020 which are not fair barometers because included within those losses are expenses exempt from FFP calculations. There is also the huge question mark of if any additional grace will be given to clubs due to the pandemic. You also need to remember that the figures that chaddy showed are up to 2020 and this summers business is actually 2 years after that. We generated considerable income from Armstrong as well as huge wage savings which will show in this year. An expectation of reinvesting a small fraction of that is not unrealistic, unless we were 10m over FFP regulations prior to selling Armstrong of which there is no evidence. There is then the question of whether setting such a strict budget is beneficial for FFP. It isnt because it means that saleable assets leave on free transfers, that opportunity cost far outweighs giving them a few more thousand a week to begin with, which itself has been accomodating by mass releasing of senior players. So defending the owners based on FFP wouldnt make sense on contractual issues even if it was down to that. This FFP argument has come solely from our supporters for some reason. If it was the reason that we didn't spend more, surely at some point during a summer in which Mowbray was being asked regularly about transfers and why we hadnt done any, surely he would have used it as an excuse for working from such a strict budget? Even when Waggott has been interviewed, he has never mentioned it as an excuse. You have chosen to perceive my thoughts about a totally unrelated matter as some sort of defence about a man who I have repeatedly stated that I think should have been sacked long ago. Also, you say that we have a small chance of removing Mowbray. Do we? They never have listened to protests in the past, even if there was mass involvement which there wouldnt be because Mowbray isnt universally unpopular just the same as Venkys. I think with Mowbray, many put their head in the sands thinking and hoping blindly that once he is removed, which he should be may I reinstate, that most of the problems will go with him. They wont.

I am not absolving him of blame, you are just talking about something that I was not discussing. I want the manager out, last season showed massive regression. I also criticised him for his lack of ruthlessness upon promotion. My point was that Venkys do not run the club in a logical or constructive way. It is Venkys and Venkys alone who have set the budget so tight and with such a short term view that we are going to lose key players and sellable assets for free. That has nothing to do with how Mowbray has spent previous budgets (mixed, a major positive just made us 10m plus) and that is not a justification of what Venkys are doing this season. If they dont trust him, then sack him. Nor should contract offers be suddenly pulled away from people. Shit ownership as ever.

My point was not relevant or specific to Mowbray, solely to do with how badly our club has been and is continuing to be run. -

The owners are not a major problem, they are THE major problem. My post was not a defence of Mowbray, it was in fact nothing specifically to do with him. It is a reiteration that the wankers that own our club are continuing to and will continue to hinder this club as long as they own us. I keep repeatedly stating that I want a change of manager, but ultimately the aforementioned owners lack the active interest in the club once described as "their baby" to make such a decision. -

Not the point that I was making, which was that whilst Venkys are here, we will constantly be plagued by this sort of shit that has been here ever since they arrived. We can never thrive with them, as we will see at the end of the season when our best players leave. Downing was excellent in his first season, so his recommendation in this instance overall was a wise one. He was always playing catch up without a pre season especially at his age, and he was only signed due to unavailability issues according to Downing himself in the second year. It was budgetary issues, but Downing was under the impression that the rug had been pulled out from Mowbray after a contract had been agreed prior. Take a listen on spotify. Undr the Cosh, last 10 minutes of Part 2. -
Do people not rate him? I think it is a commonly held opinion that he is an important first team player who we will miss. Not sure where he will go and indeed whether it would be millions to replace him, he does have his limitations and is pretty poor going forward although he is a good one on one defender, although you know under Venkys that we will be going into next season with an inferior replacement, whether that is the cheapest possible replacement externally or the constantly injured, average winger that is Rankin Costello. But whilst I share your desire for a change of manager, not everything is Mowbrays fault. He doesn't negotiate contracts, and there are 2 sides to negotiations anyway so perhaps Nyambe was unwilling to commit for longer. But Mowbray has said numerous times that he would like the soon to be out of contract players to stay, but that the problems are financial because of the budget cuts from Venkys. If you want someone to blame for the farcical situation around player contracts, Venkys should be the go to.

Not sure where is best to put this, but Stewart Downing has a double part podcast with undr the cosh available on spotify. Only within the last 10 minutes in the second episode does it mention us really, going back to when a pre-agreed contract offer was pulled 10 days before the season was pulled by the owners due to budgetary issues, Mowbray was embarrassed and frustrated to make the call apparently. Our owners pulling the rug out from under people again. Badly advised? -

In terms of content, it is much better than usual although as I tend to find with all of his articles, it still borders on being unreadable with an overreliance on cliches and seemingly a desperation to use big words when they are unnecessary or even at times not befitting where they are placed. Ideally he should be putting this sort of questioning to the manager at press conferences but I suspect that he doesn't. -

Personal memories of a midweek match of Bristol City v Nottingham Forest, hardly one to show the grandkids! I just find it bizarre. You spend all that money, perhaps take 2 days off work to travel away in the cold to watch your team who get a late equaliser and winner (a rarity for any team) and rather than really enjoying it, you are watching it through a small screen. -

I do to an extent get extra protection towards "our own" but to be honest I think we should try to judge player performance fairly and neutrally. Both were equally poor. Buckley himself has not been overly influential this season, yet to score from attacking midfield and needs to do more in the final third, plus he was not great in the 2 losses and a draw picked up in the last 3 games. That being said, he is obviously better than Clarkson who seems an illogical loanee who is not only not good enough but not the type of player that a team actively encouraging a lack of possession does not suit. A signing out of pure desperation due to an uncompetitive budget by the owners.
-
The Hull game at home? He had an impact although I personally felt that Khadra was far more influential, and that Butterworth tired about 20 minutes after coming on. I just feel that in this case, Butterworth and Clarkson's performances are getting totally different responses based on previously held reputations when both were as bad and as lightweight as each other. Clarkson is one of the loanees, he is from Liverpool so there is an assumed favour towards them, whereas Butterworth is our own player, people have been calling for him to play as more as a common criticism to use against the manager, so when both perform poorly, one gets the brunt of the abuse and the other gets excuses and further defence.
-
I definitely think there is an element of confirmation bias towards Butterworth in that not only is he not a loan like Clarkson, but his lack of inclusion lately has been an easy stick to use against the manager. There have been desperate calls for him to start, when he does he is considered to be thrown under the bus. He looked lost last night, too slow on the ball and his lack of stamina is a major concern, he was as poor as Clarkson IMO. Both have barely played but one is prime target for criticism and one has been "thrown under the bus." We wasn't good, he was poor.
-
He is not getting sacked, anyone clinging onto forlorn hopes that he might are only torturing themselves again. Venkys probably wont even know what score it was last night.

Venkys would never know if anyone boycotted or protested as they dont give a shit about the club at all. Mowbray is just a manager doing a poor job, I have no doubts that he does care and he is trying his best yet ultimately the owners allow him to continue to underperform. -

Absolutely dismal tonight, reminded me of that infamous Spurs away game under Kean such was our lack of attempt to score a goal tonight. The first and I think only shot on target was a weak speculative long ranger from Rothwell with 5 minutes to go. The 3 at the back bollocks has to stop. Kaminski for an experienced player has no concept of game management, constantly rushing the ball out quickly when the game didnt call for it, there was once when he launched a rubbish kick towards Butterworth who could barely run, then a minute later he threw a quick ball out to Edun which again brough on pressure, his distribution is really poor too. Van Hecke is crap, his header attempt in the second half summed him up, he constantly pulls opponents shirts and they could have scored early in the second half due to a mis kick from him. Ayala was good, the ball seems to be drawn towards him in the air, Lenihan had a mixed night again playing a role that doesnt suot him. Nyambe was decent although lacks end product, but is a good one on one defender. Pickering looked off the pace and I have no idea what to make of Edun, defensively he is really poor and leaves so many gaps behind him, but he is decent on the ball and very positive so maybe he would be better further forward. Clarkson again looked totally lost, what we get relying on kids on loan due to budget restraints, plus he isnt helped being played so far forward. We need Travis back fit, Johnson like Pickering looked off the pace and Rothwell was no more than ok. There have been plenty of calls for Butterworth, but he gave his chances of another start anytime soon a hammer blow. He looks somewhat overawed by the speed of professional football and he was poor, plus his stamina is a real concern, hard to justify starting a player who tires so quickly. Brereton was anonymous too and his hectic schedule in South America seems to have worn him out. I said prior to the game that we would lack goal threat although I didnt expect it to be that bad. Mowbray out, definitely. His tactics are beyond strange although lets not kid ourselves, contrary to popular belief this is a crap squad of players and is soon to lose the half decent ones to be replaced by cheaper replacements. Most importantly, Venkys out. -

Strange team, 3 at the back not ideal, nor is a total lack of goal threat aside from Brereton.
