When?

I dont think anyone said that he was the worst striker to ever play for us. Up there with the worst finishers at a time when everytime he had chance to shoot with his feet, he either spooned it miles away, tripped over the ball or telegraphed a shot essentially straight at the keeper. Tonight his finishes and also him hitting the bar showed technique with his feet that he has never shown before. Hes always had signs of hold up play (although flashes, it has now become a much more consistent staple of his game) and obviously an aeriel threat which had started to lead to goals even before tonight. You look at some of the worst strikers at least in my life time and Chris Brown would be up there. He was obviously worse than Gueye but his knees were so shot, he seldom ever had a shot he was that far off the pace.

Its senseless rubbish. If they got promoted Waggott would get and Mowbray would have got significant financial rewards. And even if they had come back down, they would have gained so much kudos for doing so. Your dislike of both causes you to come to illogical conclusions. -

Fantastic, unexpected result and away performance. Considering the circumstances, certainly our most impressive performance of the season and great character from the players. Gueye was obviously the star of the show. In the first half at times he wasnt particularly good, he felt a card in waiting, it often wasnt sticking and he was pretending to be injured a lot. In the second half he was incredible, and a very popular matchwinner. Im sure people will say I told you so but this sort of performance was not even in flashes prior to a month or so ago, especially in front of goal in the past. With his feet, up to now he has been a non entity in front of goal, hes been wayward and/or meek and predictable. His first goal got help from poor keeping but was great improvisation, and his shot off the bar and also his second goal were two different techniques but both text book. In his own box he was also superb heading balls away. Hyam was brilliant at the back and has had an excellent season that hasnt got the credit he deserves. Led by @RoversClitheroe who for some reason despises him, hes not been the most popular since last season but hes gone even beyond the form of his first season here. Batth has looked a yard off it recently due to playing so much and no surprise to see him break down. Sanderson has been rash in his cameos to date but came in tonight and was very solid. Ribeiro tired towards the end as youd expect and got caught out once or twice but overall was very steady similar to Pickering. Carry on like this and the customary short term deal will have to be extended, or would be if we were capable of extending contracts. Brittain as youd expect now was solid and Pears had little to do but did it well. Travis still looks a bit rusty but really grew into the game with a leaders performance. Buckley was decent enough next to him too although gives away silly fouls too often. The 3 behind the striker is the biggest issue. Weimann had another invisible game aside from stabbing it back for the second. Dolan was the best out of 3, Hedges again a bystander. I also felt that the subs didnt really aid us, you might want one or two of those stodgy and hard working starters off the bench in such a situation. Cantwell worked hard and blocked well oncd or twice but was loose at times too and Cozier Duberry is a liability in terms of losing the ball. Kargbo lacked the maturity to run to the corner at one stage too. The key is to find a way to get at least one or two of the likes of Dennis, Cantwell, Ohashi and Kargbo in the team behind Gueye from the start, but fitness and form is not helping that. -

He really isnt. -
Well, he isnt.

Most could play quality football with the likes of Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon against under 21 sides.

For some reason, even though I regularly call them both things like snakes, lapdogs, cretins etc, you seem to think I am Waggott in particulars biggest fan. The main issues in this situation again fall on the owners. Lack of investment predominantly. But obviously stuff like this while immaterial in the grand scheme of things considering what has gone on falls on those 2 dickheads. -

Couldnt you say that about every element of the club? The only people that need to know are internal. There surely is a duty to communicate such matters. We have fans travelling down without officially knowing who is in charge. -

It is absolutely crazy that with just over 4 hours to kick off they havent bothered to say who is taking the match. -
I have said that not one name is anything other than a serious downgrade on the head coach weve just driven out. I said of the names mentioned, Rob Edwards would be my pick, forget shortlists, but even then, would prefer Eustace to stay. We just have to accept that the club is a dysfunctional mess and not change it but just hope a manager is desperate enough to work amidst it. No money, anyone of worth sold, no contracts given to add security, arse licking and incompetent board members and people like Rudy below willing to recommend shite to be added on the playing side. If whoever comes in has any ability and credibility, he will soon leave as we have seen. Just seems futile. Would any of those 4 being appointed cause you to be angry/annoyed/dissapointed/resigned to the fact that the play offs arent happening under him?
-
Hes managing in Ireland and almost certainly wont get any other job at this level, never mind at a former club. Of course he would take it. But he shouldnt be in consideration.
-
Duff wouldnt be mentioned if he didnt use to play with us. Although Karanka would be shockingly bad.
-
Youve been critical yourself of the fact that Eustace feels that working here is impossible and he would rather go to a relegation scrap. Of course its dire. And embarassing. Your post on those options goes into detail about structures and if they would be interested. Im just after a yes or no if you would be happy rather than avoidance of the question.
-
Its not a criticism of you though. "Slammed the shortlist." The situation is dire, the likely candidates are all considerable downgrades on Eustace. Which if any of Karanka, O'Neil, Carvalhal and Wicky would you see as good appointments and as appointments that give us a chance of a top 6 place? Ill give you my answer. Of the 3 I know, I wouldnt want any with Karanka the worst and none would get us into the play offs.
-
Do you think that any of those WITHOUT the striker you called for and allowing for the disruption in between that can get us in the play offs? Thats a lie on Eustace. I considered him to be a sensible appointment and more befitting of the circumstances than Tomasson. But again the bigger picture was a mess. Carsley again a big risk as hes a manager of kids. Its more frustration at the situation though. Maybe there isnt anyone who could be on par with Eustace. Even the better options such as Edwards have a feel of the least bad.
-
As I have said, its all very depressing. All of the names are a downgrade on Eustace so its not something to be excited about. Maybe Edwards is the least bad option. I get that to be fair, you have been critical of the club. But I just dont get how you can be like, oh well, lets decide between these no marks and get into the play offs as if nothing has happened. Karanka in particular would be a terrible appointment. I have said in a different context before about O'Neil, you have seen Wolves go from ill disciplined mess conceding goal after goal from set pieces to much improved since he left. Carvalhal isnt going to leave Braga. No idea about Wicky but doesnt sound like he left his last club in good shape.
-
So you would be happy with that list? Maybe we have different standards. I expect from this club run by Venkys the very worst and they still manage to surprise me. Karanka would be particularly bad.
-
Itll be Karanka. Terrible choice but like Forshaw a pal of Rudy presumably.
-
What a terrible, terrible list. Mid table this season, relegation next.

The public statement yesterday was a stroke of genius to be fair. The last 24 hours have seen a lot more anti Eustace stuff off the back of it. I certainly dont wish him any success but equally I totally understand why he is going. He shouldnt be a focus of the attention. -
Ive no idea who I would go for. Lets be honest, its all a bit depressing. All the names mentioned are downgrades and especially considering the upheavel, we wont be getting into the play offs and the club is in a mess. You said we needed a goalscorer to get into the play offs and that was working on the assumption that Eustace stayed. Now we have neither. Its going to be understandably toxic at Ewood on Saturday.
-
Im in no doubt that he wont come, thats not my question. Unless im mistaken, he was on your shortlist only yesterday. What has changed from thinking of him as a candidate to telling people he is unrealistic? I know Elliott Jackson said he isnt realistic so wondering if it was that.
