Says who? Why did they all say they hadnt yet started talks with the club in March/April? Why have no players (beside the weird Ribeiro situation) signed new deals in the last 2 years? Its not just general moaning, its a fundamental issue at this club that we cant get players to renew their contracts. Although to be quite honest, yes you should be starting talks with 2 years to go.

That Privy twitter account in the main has been accurate but he/she claims that all of the players were offered deals montbs ago. Why did at least 2 of these players (may have been all 3) come out close to the end of the season and say that they hadnt been offered anything yet? So you think that it is unfeasible that a player could take 12 whole days of pre season up deciding where he will commit himself to in what is possibly the most important contract of his career? If he ends up on a short term deal in League 1, like Nyambe, then I will hold my hands up. You just don't want to acknowledge the pattern, it isn't just Dolan that won't sign a new deal here. My prediction is that he will sign for either a Championship club or a club in another country, I don't think he will go to a club in a lower division which would perhaps justify these notions of poor advice, because all he has decided so far is not to renew his contract here. I am guessing that you think that is a mistake and won't acknowledge that there is a significant chance that any contract offers to him from us where not worthy of a player at his level.

Again, what are you on about? It is a huge decision in his future, neither of us have any idea how many contracts he has in front of him. He is probably deciding what to do next and which club to go to. It's only 11th July. I understand why he hasn't stayed here, he isn't the only one not to be satisfied by our clubs pitiful attempts to get players to renew contracts, I am not the one trying to imply that he has had terrible advice or has made a mistake not staying. If the season starts and he is still unemployed and then ends up signing for a League 1 club, different story.

How do you know that he hasn't been offered contracts? It's not even mid July, he is probably pondering his next move.

We don't want him to boost Charlton, we need them to be as crap as possible. We want as many teams as possible to be worse.

Its not that he doesnt want to renew. He seemingly was about to but because we left it far too late, his head will be turned by a much better offer.

No one should fall for the shite that will peddled about him being about to sign a new deal before we was blown out of the water. This should have been sorted months ago. We may well have got close to an agreement but in the summer with a year to go, always a risk of this. If he was about to sign a new deal, that makes it worse because had we offered it previously he would have signed without this risk.

I dont see the evidence that he has been sold a fairytale. All he has done so far is declined an old contract from us which is almost certainly nowhere near fair. We are 11 days post contract expiry, I think the month after expiry is also paid. So its not like we can conclude that no one has come in for him, still time to mull over his next very important move

Fees certainly arent "irrelevant." If you have more money, you are more likely to get better quality. Not guaranteed but more likely.
