  1. Is it after this week when we fly away for a week to Spain? In which case, assuming we dont sign anyone this week, we probably wont when away so then you are in the territory of any signings not being up to speed in order to start the season. So a big week ahead. Notice how we still havent even organised a friendly for the week before the season.
  2. We supposedly needed a cover right back and this new lad was billed as that. Nominal fee, one to develop. So if we cant pay a fee for another one having sold Brittain then theres something up.
  3. Im not pinning it on Carter. I am saying that the opinion people hold of them isnt representative of their performances. Both are good Championship defenders on their day and did well together in the 2022/23 season when together. But in the last 2 seasons, Carter has had 0 good seasons, punctuated by injury, Hyam has had one. They were both poor in the season we nearly went down. Hyam doing well last season doesnt seem to have regained any confidence or favour in many fans eyes though and he hasnt had much credit for it. In fact, it seems to have strengthened the view that he is dispensable. Yes I agree he was poor that season. Everyone was bar Smzodics really. Hence why I said he was very good in 2 and poor in the middle one.
  4. Hes not inconsistent, he has had 2 full seasons of consistent performances. I dont get how when Carter comes in, who is hardly a youngster himself now, and performs poorly coinciding with an overall poorer defence, he gets no criticism and it all goes to Hyam for not leading him through it. He has done well with Batth, well with Ayala, well with Wharton, well in a back 4, well in a back 3, but has been worse when Carter who himself hasnt played well in the last 2 years has come in. Makes no sense to pin all that on Hyam.
  5. But hes played in a 4 for most of the time here. As I have said, he probably does benefit from a more experienced player. Im sure all centre backs would. Its just the narrative has escalated to the point where he is totally incompetent without one. He did well with Carter for half of that season in a back 4 when Carter was on form. His dips in form seem to have come since when next to Carter who has struggled both to stay fit and when he has played to perform for 2 years, but for some reason, no one questions Carter.
  6. Young player of the season is often a different ball game. Often given to someone who has just broken through and might have barely played.
  7. Aye, the player of the season wasnt very good. Clearly have an agenda. Batth was obviously really good last season but we wouldnt have done so well defensively based on one of the two centre backs carrying the other. We should have just put an academy graduate in if it was all down to Batth.
  8. Why was he so good in his first season then?
  9. Another of Broughton's signings you dont like. Was excellent last season.
  10. No. He is better with experience beside him but I think most would be. Hyam was good with Carter in his first year but when theyve played together since weve struggled and I have never understood why Carter's reputation has always remained intact and he hasnt been questioned and its all put on Hyam.
  11. He was excellent last season and player of the season in his first season. He is also reliable on the injury front and not made of glass.
  12. It wouldnt have to be him looking for big money. Even if he wants average, standard money he wont have been offered it here.
  13. How do you know that he was offered £8-10k? Youve just made that figure up and I would be very surprised if it was that high. Talk about "team structures" etc is naive. If hes being massively underpaid he wont sign, no one would. Its not like he is playing for a club with any ambition either. Him not having decided by now does not prove any bad advice. As I said, if he ends up downgrading and on a short term deal at a lower level, then I will accept that its similar to Nyambe. If he ends up at the level of team you mention, then he hasnt been given bad advice, hes made a move to a similar level of club but with more money and more ambition. Good to see you talking sense on the contracts after previously shutting me down for constantly banging on about it. Now you can see why it was so important as its taking over the summer.
  14. Seems like some of those "stories" are just filling lines to get something out for those loyal patreon subscribers. Legia Warsaw were playing the team who finished 3rd in Kazakhstan. Obviously they are expecting to go through. If thats not a deal thats happening, move on to someone else. Also with the midfielder who has failed a medical, why is that dragging on? Again, surely thats one that cant happen now It would be good if Hyam signed a new deal but im sick of hearing that we will offer x a new deal. Until its done its irrelevant. Tronstad and Travis are the elephants in the room. We need to get some new players in to fill those key positions ASAP.
  15. You really are fixated on how negative I am supposedly being today aren't you. Even in posts that don't pass judgement on the club whatsoever. Anything to add in terms of the post I made? Or just being on negativity patrol?
  16. It is worrying how we came into the window with our attack lacking in goals but our defence being solid, and now that is being pulled apart too. Brittain is such a big and avoidable loss, I wonder if Montgomery is considered a right back now or its again just a case of filling in. Ismael called right back "not a priority" post match when suggesting that Brittain is moving and us having signed someone the other day, but I really hope he meant an urgent priority. We need a first choice. Centre back is a huge issue too. Hyam is a good player at this level but Batth leaves a huge hole. Carter has fallen away and is made of glass (coming off again today) and Wharton is a huge question mark. I feel like in attack, Ohashi isn't a top Championship striker but he is a decent one, Gueye less so, but the big concern is how few goals are around that, especially with Dolan and Weimann gone. We badly need a right winger and a more central one who can get us some goals. Hedges will do well to get 2, De Neve has no history of scoring, Kargbo is a huge question mark and Cantwell got 1 from open play. Another issue is it seems like Gestede in particular doesn't appreciate the importance of experience. So much work to do, we need a centre back, right back and right winger all to come in our first 11 before even considering 2 potential midfielders. We also need a right winger, number 10 and another striker. I wonder how many corners they will try and cut.
  17. You've taken my comments, massively snowballed your own narrative and then fit it into your theory that everything that I post goes back to the idea that the club is fucked. My point was firstly that he isnt at the same level as Wharton. But that he has gone on to play 1 and a half seasons worth of regular football at Championship level, working up from Plymouth to Stoke and really impressing. I actually think he would have played less football here. I think so far, his move has been justified from a footballing and financial perspective. It was in no way a comment about the club, just about the decision Phillips made. Due to his age and ths rules, it was very difficult to stop him. You have just made it into that and created your own narrative to be able to say "typical RF99."
  18. That assumes that every player that stays like Wharton goes on to do what he does. Phillips is clearly not at the same level. Point being, Phillips has now played 18 months of consecutive regular Championship football. He probably wouldnt have here.
  19. If youve taken that conclusion from that post then the issue is your confirmation bias.
  20. Phillips has been playing regular Championship football for a season and a half. And he wasnt here. Linked with Sheff United.
  21. Phillips 2 years on now is massively in demand at this level due to performances so not sure how its curtailed.
  22. But even with special talents, lots arent ready to play lots of football at senior level so soon. And its not a case of, Tyjon is either special or useless. There is a middle ground where he might not be quite ready yet for much Championship football, but he is talented and might go on to be a good player at this level and beyond down the line. There shouldnt be this expectation on him so soon.
  23. So you've just named some of the greatest players of all time. And based on them being ready so young, if Tyjon is not yet ready, then what? Absolute nonsense. Even if he develops into a good Championship or even Premier League player, he has done well. You could name many other top historical players who also werent ready at this age.
  24. Brittain is one of the very best right backs in the league and under Eustace improved defensively so much. Astounded by anyone not rating him similar to RevidgeBlue and his weird Tronstad dislike.
