  1. They were in the Premier League. But also practically 20 years ago. Reported as a fee of below £500k without add ons, that is a nominal fee for a Championship club. Its not a comment on the player.
  2. At least the sub right back for a nominal fee got done.
  3. We know what happens here. The deal just fizzles away and hes back in Switzerland early next week.
  4. Elliott Jackson reporting that the Baradji deal has stalled.
  5. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25304176.ryan-alebiosu-transfer-verdict-blackburn-rovers-move/ Some opinion from those that have seen him. Common consensus is uncertainty as to whether hes up to standard at this level or worth £500k. (Although as mentioned yesterday, the actual fee is much less up front) The Scottish journalist/expert suggested that he didnt stand out, however the opinions of the 4 or 5 St Mirren fans that I posted yesterday suggested otherwise.
  6. Kapuadi and Al Sahafi would both require ESC slots. Seems uncertain if we have 1 left but certainly not 2.
  7. He reads the game well and anticipates danger well. He is slow but he often positions himself to avoid being exploited.
  8. As an 11 or 7. Modern day football eh. So as a winger. Hopefully he will be given freedom to really exploit transitions with a solid double pivot behind him and help to get our xg up.
  9. I would be very surprised to see Pickering go and I find him to be a steady Championship full back. I think assuming the 4231, De Neve will be behind Kargbo.
  10. If we have so much experience, then why did we need him back in the first place? Just saying "Ismael wanted him" and "championship experience" doesnt make it right. I dont think he is good enough and I dont think he was needed personally. Im guessing from you, there are no question marks at all so far? Not about the individuals necessarily but about the way we have done things. It doesnt have to be a criticism. One of my points, if we go and pay fees on a striker and right winger, then great. If we dont, then I dont get why we have spent on 2 midfielders. So it isnt a criticism yet, just a question. I also dont get why we have so many midfielders. If say Tronstad signs a new deal, we have to sell Travis (or vice versa) and then we can shift Buckley and Garrett, then buying 2 midfielders makes sense.
  11. To be fair, I think without names its unremarkable. The Brittain one would be the scoop to be able to stop living off the Rhodes one he apparently came up with. Getting a bit old that. I really hope its true.
  12. Ohashi, Gueye, Kargbo and Cantwell between them got was it 18 goals between them last season, thats chucking in 2 penalties. I would be massively dissapointed if that group didnt get comfortably more than that between them, that is for sure. I also dont anticipate our defensive record being as strong so they will need to get more and we will need some new additions to also get some.
  13. I addressed that. Just saying Championship experience doesnt nullify that question. Jason Lowe and Corry Evans have that, lets get them back. I literally said, if the only reason we signed him was for Championship experience, surely it would have been wiser to sign an experienced head in a position where we have less depth. Rather than a position where we had plans to sign 2, already have 2 key players there, and also have 3 other players in that position? But again, you are keen dismiss healthy, constructive questions such as the make up of the squad, the balance of the squad, the utilisation of resources etc. If you do merely try and debate these, you are being negative and glass half empty in your eyes. Would more goals in those games not have solved that?
  14. But even then if you think about it, how many attackers in each of the last 5 seasons or whatever have previously had below 10 goals in the prior year, and then havent boomed into prolific goalscorers. Theres hope that the players I mentioned could improve how many goals they got, but it would be a welcome massive shock and exception if they started scoring at that level.
  15. Absolutely dreadful. Going to be hounded out before he kicks a ball.
  16. Doesnt seem balanced at all when you put it like that.
  17. The Szmodics example is often used but that is a very big exception to the rule though. I do hope that some of our attackers do improve, they need to. Cantwell is a big one, he only scored 1 from open play and was disappointing in general but he didnt have a pre season and we know he has ability even if hes never been and almost certainly never will be a prolific goalscorer, but he needs to do more. Hard to know what to expect from Kargbo, he seemed very raw when he did play. Ohashi should benefit from a rest (international duty was not ideal, for us anyway) so hopefully he can avoid injury and improve now hes settled. Not as hopeful on Gueye. The right wing was and still is our weakest position. I fear that Hedges will just remain there indefinitely even on the assumption that we sign someone. Hopefully they can come in soon and have a pre season.
  18. It was directly under Elliott Jackson's tweet about it. I then deleted it upon realising it was a Burnley fan. I also referenced that St Mirren seemed to like him yesterday but that doesnt fit your narrative. Why would it benefit me if we signed a shit player? (And I am not saying that about this player)
  19. Legia Warsaw are selling another of their key players and Kapuadi starts in a European qualifier tonight. Seems that one has gone very cold.
  20. I agree that things can change but would you not agree that coming into the summer, that our attack was the weakest part of our team?
  21. Of course, its not 100% linear, but I dont think anyone would argue that our attack is the weakest part of our team. So if we have more money to strengthen it, great. If not, surely you would question where we have spent it to date. We have lost our second and third top scorer. Beck ceetainly wasnt as integral as Batth and crucially Eustace. I agree.
