Who are "they?" And which projects have been curtailed? Im not sure that it is ripe for selling to be fair. Bar Armstrong who will benefit Newcastle almost as much as us, who else could we sell?

Totally disagree on Trybull, I think hes dreadful. Slow and ponderous, arguably the perfect example of what it has been like watching us play this season. Would be very annoyed if he came back. -

I doubt Dolan will play as I suppose the front 3 who got 5 between them will be played again. I think Davenport should start ahead of Evans, and ideally a young lad at left back. Bennett, Bell, Trybull, Johnson, Downing and Evans shouldnt make the squad. I think the main difference is that you think these 2 results make any difference to Mowbray pleading to the owners, my point is if its done on merit/results, then he goes regardless, 13th, 15th or 17th is splitting hairs, hes still got less points, finished lower down and miles away from target. Venkys probably wont even know the score. The disinterest side of it I do get. You do care slightly more than you are letting on, hence making this thread, you will check the score, you have suggested certain players to play etc. I do care, but as comparatively little as I remember, partly because of my feelings on the manager and the stagnation, partly because its behind closed doors and partly because the season as you touch on has no significance really. All considered, my perspective is that it has no bearing on his job security, and little significance overall, but I still want us win, even if failure to do so wont hinder my weekend in the same way as it may do in normal circumstances. Do you watch much of League 1 to be particularly interested about such a situation? -

Being in stadiums wouldnt have made a difference. Kean wasnt sacked even after relentless abuse in the stadiums because they dont care less. Do you intend on shouting abuse at the manager next season personally? -

I do sort of understand again that it is a symptom of the universal frustration regarding the manager staying in his position but it seems backwards that if we was to win, that the managers post match interview would be your first thought. If that is so key to your thought process, it is easier to avoid even than the result. It might be one of them things where if you saw the score (presuming you wont be watching) that if Rovers have won, you instinctly will be happy. Like I said, I totally get the disinterested/apathy aspect of it. Although you probably do a bit, hence creating a thread on the subject and you will check the score. I just dont get actively wanting a defeat baring in mind that Mowbray has already guaranteed objective regression and a massive failure to reach his objectives, therefore even if Venkys (for once) acted logically then his exit would already be sorted. If you genuinely believe the last 2 games and quite how far off expectations/even last season we finish could in any way make a difference for Mowbray to "spin" anything then I fear its beyond baseless hope. If the question was would we hope for a defeat if it meant that Mowbray will go, then of course, a different question. The Derby thing I do get a bit if you want a certain team relegated, personally I dont have any real opinion positive or negative on Derby or Rotherham. -

If they was to base it on league position, the fact that we aimed for 6th, finished last season in 11th and cant finish higher than 12th this season with at least 4 points left suggests that if it was based on league position, he would be out of a job by now. I get if you had said that you couldnt give a shit, less so that you actively want us to lose. Had there been a shred of evidence or a shred of a suggestion that losing these 2 games would make a slight difference, then id understand. Im not even sure if its about their lack of professionalism. There is a lack of ability on the pitch and we are solely lacking in the dugout, hence why in the equally meaningless game prior, we lost to second bottom. -

roversfan99 replied to Bigdoggsteel's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Bizarre. A noticeable regression across the season, finishing with less points and much further down the table than last season and miles away from the target wont make a difference to the security of our underperforming manager, due to the disinterest of our negligent owners. Finishing 14th, 16th or 18th wont make any difference at all to Mowbrays future. If it was based on logic, a regression would be impossible to avoid regardless of these 2 games so he would be going, as it is, they dont care so he will be staying regardless. I could understand if these last 2 ultimately unimportant games were make or break to Mowbrays future, or even if the attitude of people was disinterest, that I totally get, but I dont at all understand actively wanting us to lose in this situation when it wont change that either way. If you start thinking about "Mowbrays end of season gloss" then I think you are losing track of the purpose of our matches, unless there is a sense of delusion that these next 2 games could or will even make a slight difference to his future. -

Of course, wasnt the prognosis that he would miss the start of next season too? But even covering for that, I feel that it is critical that we sign at least one centre back, whether that is Harwood Bellis or someone more experienced, plus Ayala if he can pull himself off the treatment table, so Wharton would only be one of 4. Wharton has far from proven himself just yet but he obviously has a couple of very accomplished Championship performances under his belt to point to. League 1 performances or indeed ones in friendlies are incomparable. Obviously the ideal situation is loan to League 1, stand out and come back, but in this instance, I feel like it would make more sense because we already have a young CB ahead of him, as well as 2 senior ones, and are in requirement of further quality beyond that, that it would make sense for Carter to have a full season at League 1. It is particularly difficult with centre backs because you cant dip them in and out really. Who is 2nd choice in your scenario? Ayala who can't just be written off as a bad job? Wharton who has not yet recovered and indeed there would be a major chance that Wharton and Carter are needed together? Or a new signing? And if not the latter, surely we only become weaker if Harwood Bellis goes back and we dont replace him? -

Suppose the acid test is the difference between League 1 and the Championship which is a vast one, the standard of the Championship is far from brilliant but League 1 is really poor as we saw on a weekly basis a few years ago. Carter looked well out his depth at Championship level last season, now he has seemingly done everything he possibly could during his loan spell but that doesnt prove that he is ready yet necessarily. I still think that we need another centre back next season, and would personally suggest that we should loan out Carter again for one more year, perhaps again to Burton, because we already have Wharton who had a couple of impressive performances prior to his injury at Championship level, and it would be very difficult to give them both regular game time. If we didnt have Wharton, maybe there would be scope to have Carter around. The obvious one to bring in would be Harwood Bellis who has done well on loan, who is behind Dias, Laporte, Stones and Ake so nowhere near City's squad. Then again, we have still conceded plenty of goals with Lenihan and Harwood Bellis together, and I suspect that we are going to be in a scrap next season, so maybe not, im unsure. -

I dont think thats fair to correspond such a random aspect of the club to directly supporting the manager and CEO continuing in situ. Out of interest, would you buy a Rovers shirt anyway? Will you be doing so next season? Does it depend on if others agree to refrain out of protest? Same with attendance, are you going next season if Mowbray is manager Me personally, I will be going next season, I am not willing to cut off my nose to spite my face, I went with Kean as manager and with Coyle as manager, I participated in protests but I still went, so some may have felt (incorrectly) that my attendance was a sign of faith in those dismal managers. Since I was young, I have never seen the point in as a grown man, buying a Rovers shirt, so in theory I could be seen to be abstaining as a sign of dissent, but that isnt really the case. I dont want Mowbray or Waggott to remain, I havent for a while, but such forms of protests will never gain full cooperation so will be rendered futile. -

Your post implied that Mowbray was at work building a squad for next season. If that is the case and he is in charge, plus Armstrong goes, we will not be in for a good season unfortunately. Mowbray has a track record of fairly shoddy recruitment, I suspect that will continue. If Mowbray is at work signing players prior to being sacked, that is totally illogical. -

I dont think that it is fair that chaddy is made to feel guilty in any way for wanting to buy a season ticket, even if that implies a certain degree of support or indeed lack of opposition towards Mowbray being manager etc. As an aside, I would be totally against the idea of any red tape post June 21st. Assuming all goes to plan, we cant be expected to just live under such rules forever/indefinitely. Surely the purpose of the vaccines is to get back to normality. I appreciate that the risk of covid may never be totally eliminated but you have to be practical at the same time. -

Only watched up until the second goal but a very good result, no use seeing it as in any way negative because the twats in India wont even know what score it is, it is baseless to imply that one result will make or break Mowbray's future. Armstrong yet again proving how critical he is to us and we will struggle at the wrong end without his goals. Bell was appalling for their first goal, him and Douglas should not be at Rovers next year. -
Even if he was to be let go, it is still further incompetence and negligence on behalf of Venkys to allow Mowbray to start telling players that they are staying or going only for him to be removed. Obviously leaving him as manager would be even more senseless and sadly it seems inevitable.
-
Why would he be told the budget if he was going to be removed? Sadly, I think its false hope to think he will be removed.

Data can often be used to try and prove an opinion, so most of the time there is bias in its usage. Conversely, an argument can also be repeated purely to try and justify the data by those inclined to big it up in the first place, case in point below, our data seemingly is far better than our league position, whereby any of us who have watched each game will know that the data is a load of bollocks in this instance and we havent deserved to be any higher. -
Am I the only one that doesnt take todays LT article as proof that Mowbray will be here next season? It seems like the usual spiel to me, Mowbray has absolutely no clue what his budget will be next season never mind whether he will be here himself, our owners dont give a shit about us, and continue to let us down. Seems like a non story. For the record, I am sure he will be here sadly and I fear a severe threat of relegation.

Mowbrays Successor
roversfan99 replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Its a reminder of quite how bad Venkys have been to this club in every regard that Barnsley's manager would almost certainly hold no interest whatsoever in becoming our manager. -
I would go the opposite way, I have never really sensed any real danger at the bottom (not that its an achievement to clarify) so there should have been an element of forward planning long before last night, but especially now we are at 50 points. You look at the side last night, Harwood Bellis and Elliott will go back, Evans, Trybull, Bennett and Douglas have comfortably proven that they should be nowhere near this club next season, as have Johnson and Holtby who started on Friday, and Rothwell is very lucky to be given so many chances too. Gallagher is poor but especially so on the wing, Lenihan should be here next season as obviously should Kaminski but both have not long left on their contracts, and obviously I suspect that Armstrong will be off too. One or two of those we had little choice but to play (Harwood Bellis and Douglas) but otherwise, it made no sense either short term (lots of rubbish that wont and hasn been helping us get results) nor long term when most wont be here next season. I dont necessarily rate them quite as highly as others but the likes of Buckley, Davenport, Dolan, Brereton etc should all be allowed to try and prove that as squad players pushing for a first team place, that they can play their part next season, if not, then they should be loaned out. As it is, I suspect that they will all be here festering and achieving very little. As it is, there is a manager who should have been potted ages ago continuing with a very blinkered view desperate to probably try and finish one or two places higher for when he goes cup in hand to our disinterested owners to convince them for a few pennies in the summer.
