  1. They ran an article on interest in Lindsay last week.
  2. With personal terms not agreed, there is probably a big chance of him being taken by a bigger club and/or one who can offer bigger wages. That being said, I dont think he is a Premier League player. Nixon is probably just chancing his arm through as we know how much shite he talks. We have presumably spent our budget on Joe Hart, McLaughlin, Iversen, Muric and Hofmann...
  3. Dont think him and Lenihan will lead to playing it out from the back so that might need a compromise.
  4. Mowbrays advertised mould doesnt keep the goals out. Seems like Kipre would be as good as we could possibly get on limited funds. Good age too.
  5. Wouldnt get carried away just yet mind you: "However, while an agreement that works for both clubs is close, there is still work to be done on personal terms. And that could well stand in the way of any possible transfer as Rovers look to make their second summer signing." And working on an alternative. So whilst Wigan seem desperate to sell I think there could be a decent change someone else will take him. Have to keep fingers crossed.
  6. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18679910.rovers-make-move-wigan-defender-cedric-kipre/ What a pleasant surprise this could be!
  7. He is right sided predominantly and we could do with a natural left sider. I remember when we had Chimbonda at left back always cutting inside. Not ideal having someone on the wrong side. If we are signing someone we may aswell get someone natural for the position.
  8. Signing Steven Sessegnon makes no sense. We need a left back, not a right back.
  9. It will be tough on some people but I suppose there is no way of avoiding such a scenario assuming that as you say the limited capacity is smaller than the ST base. For Rovers surely this wont be a problem. I think the way that Stanley have done it is as fair as possible and I also like the clarity regarding bubbles, regarding streams and with specific dates.
  10. Finances are tight across the Championship however, and Mowbray admitted: “It’s really difficult. I’m not sure I’ve ever been anywhere where money is no object and you just go and get the best players and you have the best team in the league." Mowbray made this comment on the back of the other days assertion that we cant afford 7 figure fees. Evem if Kipre and Whiteman are players Mowbray has identified, i just dont see them being realistic at all. Too expensive. Ultimately Venkys will not sign off all cheques and we have to work within the parameters of a difficult financial time. “It looks like it’s coming to a culmination over the next week or two. If it is then it’ll be good for Derrick, good for the football club because it might give us some income to move things around." Also seems like theres a bit of a reliance on getting Williams gone to give us some more money which means getting him gone asap is key for us.
  11. I cant see it happening although id love to be proved wrong. Dealing with 6 figure fees so even with Wigan in administration his fee wont drop that much and if he does bigger teams will surely circle. If indeed he is a genuine target as it seems to have stemmed from a randomer on twitter. Its definitely evident that we need to get all of the pieces to fit and also we need to be better up better as a team. Full backs more conservative etc. Even if Kipre signed, is he an upgrade on Adarabioyo? Almost certainly not. Chuck in a good left back to replace the inept Bell, and hope the keeper is a success and maybe its a different and much rosier story.
  12. Yeah he did but it was Coyle who signed him so he played, albeit with a few injuried scattered amongst it, in the relegation season. Not always at centre back either. Not that your point is any less valid and ultimately it is our own fault that we are now lumbered with him.
  13. He wasnt untested as he played a season in this division for us and got both winners v Newcastle. That being said, its more his age that made it a stupid decision. We gave loads of needless contracts out after promotion.
  14. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/18669991.rovers-transfer-news-latest-budget-defender-search/ "Cedric Kipre, of cash-strapped Wigan Athletic, has been on the club’s radar, but while the budget will allow for cash signings, those are unlikely to stretch to seven-figure fees. That could well rule out a move for the 23-year-old, should the Latics hold firm on their demands for in excess of £1m." Raya was the kind of goalkeeper who sometimes won points with great saves as well as lost them with mistakes. Walton certainly lost plenty but very seldom made anything other than ordinary saves. Just nothing about him. Sounds like Kaminski is more from the Raya school of goalkeeping. Worry would be that his weakness may be even more prevalent in English football. Lets hope not.
  15. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p08n7qhb From 20 minutes, the interview with Kaminski as per the official site. From 26 minutes, a short interview with a journalist from Belgium. Obviously of no use to those who arent interested in a players previous career. To summarise, has made a few errors and got a lot of bad press and lost some confidence. Reputation lower than before he joined Gent. Good reflexes and distribution. Massive weakness claiming his box which is not ideal coming to England. Not one of the best keepers in Belgium but a good one. Bit of surprise about the low fee. Regarding the centre back we are apparently after, I am curious as to who we can get domestically for less than a million domestically unless its one of the freebies that I have mentioned. You look at the going rate of domestic centre backs. Swansea have been scared off from Williams because hes too dear with 1m+ asking price. Stoke want their 2m fee back for Souttar despite a terrible season. We cant afford a defender from a relegated club in administration. Its either going to be a bog standard player or a real find by Mowbray. Fingers crossed for the latter.
  16. He has only ever played 19 senior appearances and is neither the "man next to Lenihan" that Mowbray described nor likely to be available permanently. Surely doesnt fit the bill.
  17. Fisher, Rankin Costello, Lenihan, Wharton, Bell, Evans, Travis, Holtby, Brereton, Armstrong, Chapman How many subs are allowed?
  18. Seems like the Swansea interest has gone as quickly as it came. Plus if Mulgrew goes it will have to be heavily subsidised. Seems that Kipre is unattainable. That last sentence is very true. We wont be dominant like Gent were. I also think the standard of the Championship is overrated due to the entertainment it often provides. The goalkeping standard is very low too. @Amo made a fair assumption that with all of these errors, he doesnt seem to be the type of keeper who is a steady eddie which a shame as I felt that would have been perfect. That being said, you can have goalkeepers who win you games with saves and also lose you games with regular mistakes. Raya could do both. Walton could only do the latter. Lets hope that Kaminski is capable of winning us points.
  19. Its a bit of a strawman argument this as no one has suggested that twitter opinions will take priority over their own opinions, or that the player wont be judged from his first fixture here. It was merely a point of adding further information and opinions to the signing of someone that prior to a couple of weeks ago, no one had ever heard of. So it adds a bit of discussion to those who would like to discuss how he did at previous clubs and the opinions that their fans held. I made it clear when sending them screenshots that I will judge him in a Rovers shirt, as I do with every single player that signs. Ultimately, if it was strictly "no opinions can be shared until the player plays for us" then this thread is obsolete.
  20. I am not suggesting signing a squad player, ideally I would want a player very much pushing to play every week. We have enough bodies for any position if you just reel off every single youngster at the club! My point is in terms of players that we know can contribute, we have 2 and 1 is injured! Even if you factored in Gallagher and Brereton, that is for. Signing one more wide player would not totally eradicate any possibility of the other players breaking through, but equally at the moment I do not feel that we have enough players within that forward line to feel confident about, especially with the aim of going for the top 6. Assuming that we started Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher on the opening day, say we need a goal. Do I think for a top 6 side, that Mowbray turning to his bench and seeing Rankin Costello (if hes not needed elsewhere) Rothwell (has done very little and seems to be playing in the midfield 3 anyway) Chapman (has started 1 League game ever for Mowbray, plus big question marks) or the rest of the kids, Vale, Butterworth, Dolan etc (about 40 minutes of senior experience between them) can think "right I can be confident that we have some game changers here?" Definitely not. Chuck one more senior winger into the mix and I'd feel much more confident. And to imply that a solitary signing slams a door shut on any scope for kids to break through? Bollocks.
  21. I always say that I am aware of examples of players being better at certain clubs than other clubs and I will judge in a Rovers shirt but I personally (as are others) am interested to know more about players we sign especially when I had never heard of them prior. You cant comprehend that I can take these opinions on board yet still seperate them from my own judgement which I obviously havent made yet. Just please scroll past. I am unconvinced that Chapman is the answer. The reason that I kept asking him to play is because we had Gallagher and Brereton clearly incapable of playing wide bumbling up and down, we had Rothwell flattering to deceive, we had Holtby not suited there, and a natural winger gathering dust. I have repeatedly asked for a wide player and ultimately if Chapman impressed then there is no reason why he could work in harmony with a new wide men but I feel that we are really lacking in senior attacking threats and I would like one more going into a season in which we want the top 6. If a Dolan or a Vale comes through aswell, perfect, if they arent ready, not a problem. As Tom says you seem to know someone who supports every club in the football league so its only when it suits.
  22. Happy for Williams to go regardless because even at the moment I would play Wharton over him but obviously we are assuming that we can get a couple in which selling Williams may help to facilitate.
  23. Quite a few comments. Posted a couple of more positive ones too. Just to clarify in case me sharing these comments underneath is twisted into me being negative, wanting him to fail etc. I am desperate for him to be a success, I know that there are various reasons why players have different experiences at different clubs and I will judge him as a Rovers player.
  24. Who moans about that? The thing with the 4 players that you mention, is that the first has played about 10 League games for the club, predominantly at full back. Chapman has massive question marks and has made one League start for us 3 years ago, the other 2 have 20 minutes of senior football between them. We have Dack (who may struggle playing in a front 3, and a player you keep saying might not be the same player) and Armstrong who we know can score goals. Gallagher and Brereton too who are senior options but despite the giddiness over the latter getting a couple of (nicely taken) goals against Blackpools second string, have previously not shown that they are up to it. But even if we count all 4 of them as senior options who we are happy with, one of whom starts the season injured, beyond that its all question marks or totally untested kids. For some reason, you dont seem to realise that we could add a player to potentially play in the wide areas, maybe even a loan, someone who has shown competence at senior level, without totally blocking the pathway to the kids, but equally without being reliant on them coming through otherwise if they arent ready then we are looking incredibly light. We are supposedly going for promotion. If the front 3 v Bournemouth is Armstrong, Gallagher and Brereton and we need a goal later on, who is beyond that who we can bank on? As it is, if we did sign an attacking player, you would be right behind the signing regardless so little point in continuing. Of course. Its not a pure indicator, plus for a start, Gent regularly dominate so might be more scope to lose concentration. I will judge on his displays in a Rovers shirt like anyone else, always have done, but just trying to add a bit of meat to the bones regarding a totally unknown player. Scroll past and dont comment chaddy if you have no interest.
  25. Plenty of comments like this from Gent fans which is a little worrying. I am pleasantly surprised to see that his English is so good. That is key. Also, hope Swansea take Williams as soon as possible. Strange from them, if we can get a fee and his wages off the books we can hopefully bring in 2 CBs there and improve.
