He never said or insinuated that he felt that Mowbray was a liar. In fact he made specific reference to who he would blame if we dont get what we need in the market, ie the owners. Even if Mowbray feels he has the money, the owners have the final say, until the ink is dry on the new signings contract any promises from them mean nothing, considering what theyve done in the past. We will be able to judge the window in 24 hours, both in terms of what is spent and what has been done with the money. But please stop spreading things like people think Mowbray is a liar, no one said that.

Our cheesy social media which isnt for me at all has been outshined by Burnleys announcement of Mee signing an extended deal: That said, the fact that we have yet to announce more than one at once is not indicative of anything!

Kasey Palmer has far more of an attacking threat and I have picked an attacking team. We are at home against a well drilled team. Did you watch the Ipswich game? Evans was far better than Smallwood, so surely his place would be more likely to be under threat.
-
In terms of names, if we are intent on improving central midfield, which shouldnt be a priority, but anyway, rather than trying to sign MLS players, Oliver Norwood is a very good midfielder at this level and is available from Brighton. Sheyi Ojo, Nikola Vlasic, Josh Sims and Brahim Diaz are all players that maybe we could sign on loan as natural wingers? Chris Martin would be a very shrewd addition, him or Nelson Oliviera. Maybe Nedum Onouha on a cheap deal would be a clever move to save money for more pressing positions, if he is fit enough. Bakary Sako is still without a club, again no idea on wage demands.

Don't get why Evans is hardly in any teams considering I felt he was one of our better performers last week, finished the last season very well, yet his place is far more vulnerable than Smallwood or indeed anyone in the team. Raya Nyambe Lenihan Mulgrew Bell Evans Smallwood Armstrong Dack Palmer Graham Subs: Leutwiler, Williams, Davenport, Bennett, Rothwell, Samuel, Conway As we all know, things could change hopefully, with a new striker, winger and centre back in the squad instead of Samuel, Conway and Rothwell. Bennett unlucky to miss out but feel that front 4 would potentially cause havoc in a game that is winnable, albeit not easy.

I think it depends on how reliant Mowbray feels he can be on the emergency loan market which will probably be driven by how much is left in the kitty. For me we should only be willing to get 1 more loan, 2 max, and even then I'm not comfortable with waiting for them until the end of the month when we are 5 games in. I get that we shouldnt panic and bring in someone of inferior quality, but Id like to think Mowbray has all of his targets lined up by now and hes not waiting for something unexpected. The key deal at the moment is a target man/focal point and I would be dissapointed if that wasnt done by the weekend. I do feel people expecting 3 or 4 signings by tomorrow may be disapointed, thats my gut feeling. As we are like any team under a budget, I feel like striker, winger and centre back are the main 3 we need, goalkeeper and central midfield less so.

An Assessment of Player Performance v Ipswich

Misses out Rayas horrendous kick and rush of blood in the first half. Made 2 big mistakes that we were lucky to get away with. -

Yeah but it was after a relegation he failed to prevent. It wasnt after 10 games as his first 10 games were very good. Why have you removed my question about people suggesting sacking Moore from your quote? -

He was a very underwhelming appointment based on previous failures but hes done very well. Not interested really in comments. Judge on results. And he got 96 points and promotion so big tick there. But your memory is playing tricks on you, no one wanted him out after 10 games. Maybe after 10 games into last season but that was following relegation (albeit under mitigating circumstances) and then a really poor start with 4 losses early on. At that point people were right to demand more. What he did after was very impressive. Please can you show me where people suggested that Moore should be sacked after 2 games. -

Can you please show me who has said that Moore should be sacked before you continue with this? With quotes. Can only presume you was referring to @DE. who clearly was saying that he didnt agree with the appointment in the first place, not that he should be sacked. This isnt aimed specifically at you chaddy so apologies but its getting boring people not reading other peoples views and then shooting down points that didnt exist in the first place. 2 posters claimed that people were moaning about Armstrong before hed played a game, I asked them for proof and neither gave it to me. You felt that after 10 games that Coyle deserved more time so no need for the smugness either. (Although I think thats another myth youve made up as we did really well in Mowbrays first 10 games if I recall) -

Obviously hes not going to get sacked. People are well within their rights to judge everything on its own merits. A loss to Bolton and the performance and lack of game plan tonight deserve criticism, albeit is obviously far too early to sack him. Some people were of the opinion that a more experienced manager was needed for such a task, and signs like that will only strengthen that. But only 2 games in. -
Dont think Myers is in the know, left Rovers a while ago and just regurgitating stories.

Not sure what to make of Forest and West Brom so far. Like the look of Dias and Carvalho for Forest, think the fans there will be entertained by them. On paper thats not even close to a promotion defence however. Think they will entertain but I imagine Karanka will need a change of tact from his pragmatic style. West Brom have no cutting edge although to be fair Gayle is on the bench. Livermore isnt even good enough at Championship level. Dont get why Burke doesnt start. -
Not necessarily, but Mowbray was insistent that he wasnt being considered to start games. You mention the injury but even this summer (may be mistaken on this, apologies if so) when asked again he reiterated that he still sees him as an impact sub. I could see him personally starting much more than he did here in League 1, as he deserved to, but dont think that Mowbray would trust him based on previous experience, therefore he may as well stay in a similar role at his local team, one much more likely to challenge for Promotion. Not saying he wouldnt want to come back, clearly has some fondness, just playing devils advocate really. To be honest I'd be surprised if him or Gallagher return.
-
My point was not regarding any subliminal messages being left by Mowbray. More that hes done everything he could in terms of creating a product on the pitch, and that I feel decisions made by those above him, most pertinently Waggott regarding pricing may stunt any potential major boosts in crowds that on pitch success may theoretically warrant.
-
Why would he want to play for a manager who has said numerous times that he only sees him as a sub, and clearly doesnt trust him, hence 1 start last season?

https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/august/lets-pack-ewood-on-a-regular-basis-says-tony/ The boss is aiming to bring on back the good times but admits what happens on the pitch will determine the numbers backing the lads from the stands on occasions. “There has been some negativity around the club for a long time now, but I would like to see a packed Ewood week in, week out. Some will come back and support the team, some won’t," Mowbray said to iFollow Rovers “The results will dictate what happens in the stands. The team have to make the people proud when they pull on the shirt. They need to work hard, fight for every ball, tackle, score goals and play with their heart and emotions. Found these comments a bit strange on the website today. Everyone will testify that the fans can all see that the team were giving their all last season, crowds went up, especially away support which was phenomenal. Plenty of goals and success. I hope he isnt naive enough to expect massive crowds, nor think that he and the teams efforts are under appreciated. The core number of supporters isnt that big, and I suspect that reason that the crowds might not increase by as much as Mowbray may like is due to the price increases.

Central midfield, especially one whose a ball winner, seems an unnecessary utilisation of our remaining budget. Can't see us signing someone from the MLS anyway, seems a bit of a random deal to try and squeeze through in the next 48 hours. Someone like McGinn i'd understand more, as he would offer more of an attacking threat alongside a more conservative Smallwood/Evans/Davenport.
-
Would like to see us go for Jordan Jones. Fast winger at Kilmarnock who I think is in the last year of his contract.
-
I'm not convinced that we will sign a winger sadly. Not sure Mowbray is a fan of wingers, had Chapman but didnt know how to use him. Prefers "wide forwards" and "defensive wingers" but I do prefer to have wingers, even though I appreciate that Armstrong is better wide than central. Nmecha was telling mates he was going to Swansea at the end of last week and was coming here at the beginning of it. Nixon's Nmecha lottery. Link him with every team in the League and he will go somewhere!

Wheres this from? Not what we need to be honest.

Get the feeling that you may be aiming a little high there! Chris Martin would be a very good addition, wages and fitness the potential issues. Jerome not for me, couple of years too old and reliant on pace which will now be on the wane, never rated him. Central midfield, Butterfield not the best and really strongly disliked at Sheffield Wednesday by their fans last year, Thorne a tidy play but injury prone. Not convinced we will sign anyone in that position unless its someone who we cant turn down, in that we are well stocked in there. Strikers the key position, needs to be someone who can hold the play up. Would love Maddison but for me considering his price, he may be unobtainable. Chris Martin and Bauer permanently and a pacy winger on loan would be very good. Feel like the same names are cropping up, mainly ex players, Chapman and Gallagher the main 2, only Baeur im convinced we have a strong interest in, I would be surprised if anyone who we do sign is a name not yet mentioned.
-
No need to be quite so uptight, not all opinions need to be "positive", we need healthy debate. Not seen anyone suggest we should release Smallwood on a free. Nor even sell him from what I've seen. So now youre "misleading." He wasnt discarded as you say so you are right in correcting Scotland1 but I feel like what you go on to say is unfair. Hes still a popular and useful player, I personally am fine with him in the team but understand the scrutiny in that his performance levels did dip below those of Evans towards the end of the season. No one is beyond criticism if its deserved. Downing was never more than a stop gap whilst Lenihan was out. He had age and mobility on his side over Ward so was a big upgrade but his performances did deteriorate after a couple of months and I wouldnt be confident with him as a Championship defender over a prolonged period. The reason no one talks about Gladwin and Whittingham is because neither play.

I watch the majority of televised Championship games and I think the quality of it is overestimated. Entertaining? Yes. Competitive? Yes. Wide open? Yes. Nothing much to fear though. Just watching Hull Villa and Todd Kane is on the wing, hes been ok to be fair but its quite incredible. -
Surely well down his priority list with Bobby Reid signed.
