We are going down (the pessimism thread)
roverblue replied to simongarnerisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I’m still not convinced, the teams below and around us have all picked up points over the last 10 games and will continue to do so. Think we need another two wins at this point but maybe less as the games tick down. A positive under Eustace is we haven’t been thumped by anyone and rarely lost so might pick up enough just from draws. -

Without Wharton pulling the strings we have nobody to create any chances. Without his through balls you need players bursting down the wings, taking on a man, having a shot from range, powering onto crosses and smashing it in. We have no players who can do that. It’s a team of hard working lads who want to pass it 5 yards to the next one. The recruitment has been total shite for far too long and losing Wharton without replacing him is the final nail in the championship coffin. -
We miss him massively, he was the only creative player in a side of plodders. If we do end up going down this season I’d pin it largely on him leaving. The only way it should have happened in January was if we had 4-5 money signings through the door at the same time.

Sam Szmodics-Your thoughts?
roverblue replied to BRFC4EVA's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No surprise that he is struggling without Wharton picking his runs out or creating for others. We don’t even have a striker for him to play off when Gally is unfit (which is every other game). He must be miffed off with life at rovers and can see him moving early on in the summer window. -

I think we draw and lose our way to the end of the season and ultimately go down. Going for a 0-0 here. -

It feels like relegation is our destiny. Played well apart from the first 20mins. Ipswich started a lot more aggressive and were hungry for the points, no excuses for that John. Eustace and rovers really need a win. We have had an awful points return against some pretty poor sides in recent weeks. The squad is crying out for some wingers and a striker. Recruitment has been total shit for too long. -

You can’t mention that on here as apparently we were Barcelona esque up until December. -

Again not surprised the players weren't happy, especially the defensive ones which were hung out to dry by JDT suicide football. If I was left in regular 3 vs 1 scenarios or being given a hospital pass in their own area whilst being closed down by the opposition I would feel the same. Either way it didn't need to be said, just go out and win some matches. There is far too much talk from the players, manager, DOF at the moment without the results to go with them. -
Just listened through and the guy certainly talks a good game. The proof will be in the pudding this summer, less talk more signings. And good ones for decent money not some unknown b team players with potential. I won't be renewing my season ticket until there is some evidence of ambition this summer after the Waggot pre-season surrender last year.

He would need a top squad and a top budget to bring success with the way he plays. Unless he learns the defensive side of the game he wont go very far. -

How come it’s suddenly “technical and procedural” when the last two postponements have not involved any actual hearing it was just never started? Sounds like a load of bollocks to me and doesn’t address if any money has been sent or not at this point. -

They seem the sort of owners who will flog the silver before finally selling or us going into admin. The question is if they have enough working cash to get us through till the transfer window opens. In summer they can flog Sammy and a few other potentials for a few million. Then it would need to be the training ground like Readings owner is now doing. Then after that its administration I guess unless a buyer is found? -

Is there anyone who has a line into the club that can get us a thorough explanation of what is going on? This radio silence is worse than just being told the grim reality. Do the fans matter so little to the club that all we get is soundbites from the manager and players telling us to clap along and turn up? -

John Eustace - our head coach
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They are two separate things, JDT had to go due to results and the breakdown of his relationship with the club. We would be worse off if he was still here. Eustace is looking poor at the moment but its early days and with the club in a total mess I am willing to give him more time. They could have gone for an Alex Neil or someone with more pedigree but guessing that doesn't fit the DoF/Head Coach model they have stupidly put in. -

Feels like a miracle is needed to stay up. we needed 6 points from these two home games and only got 2. Very lucky today to get anything. Us and Rotherham are on a highway to league one with all the other teams at least putting up a fight. -

roverblue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We should have been beat by 5-6 goals today. Luckily Plymouth couldn’t finish their dinner. The formation was all wrong as they seemed to have the run of the flanks all game whilst we had 3 centre half’s marking a single striker. The 3 then kept arguing over who was supposed to be marking him and letting him run through. Total shambles we are going down and deserve it. -

Not great other than shoring up the back line it’s been more of the same in terms of effort and excuses. Its too early to tell what his style of play is. Tuesday was possession based boredom like JDT then Norwich more scrappy and direct. He needs to smash Plymouth after the disappointment on Tuesday to get some credit back in the bank. -

It would be worrying if they weren’t in profit after flogging a generational talent, hot prospect defender and 1st team goalkeeper (not to mention several million sell on fee for our old goalkeeper) for anything up to a combined £25-30m. Meanwhile they have reinvested about 50p and a bag of pork scratchings back into the playing squad. The question Waggot is how much are you going to reinvest that back into the squad? Or are you only bothered about making a profit? I imagine the answer is f all. The consequences will be seen on the terraces next season. -

For someone who is supposedly polar opposite that performance on Tuesday night was a carbon copy of the dross served up under JDT. -
John Eustace - our head coach
roverblue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s looking a grim task to pull us out the mire. He has shored up the back line but on the ball it’s as poor as it has been all season. I don’t think it’s Eustace fault by any means. Without Adam Wharton there is nobody capable of creating something. You look at the bench last night and nobody who can change the game or get us playing a different way. The squad is devoid of any pace, power or individuality. Just conveyer belt children that have been trained to pass it 6 yards to the next guy. Our only hope might be to bore teams to death and nick one from a set piece in these last 10 games.
