[Archived] Come On In Number 5
Manchester Blue replied to CAPT KAYOS's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Liverpool v Arsenal is live on BBC1 at 17.15 on the Saturday. I would assume this means we have to play on the Sunday regardless of whether it is televised. -
Why not? According to the Uefa site we would be away first if we finished 1st or 2nd which we obviously wll.
-
There was a big article in the Times last week about the decline of Eastern European football and how they almost certainly won't have any teams in the next stage of Champions League. Aside from CSKA Moscow who have a wealthy backer the Russians have been awful even with home advantage. Spartak have an artificial pitch but it hasn't done them any favours. By and large they just have not challenged this year and even went out of the Uefa 1st round in large numbers. I don't think it would be easy but i'd fancy our chances ahead of those sides from the Uefa. All depends upon the draw though as either way it could be very tough or not bad at all.
-
In the champions league you are forgetting that results between the two sides takes priority over goal difference, hence Steau already 3rd and Copenhagen already out. Like i've said previously the Champions League potential opponents don't look any tougher than the 3rd place teams from the groups.
-
Well I think it's a disgrace and the game should be replayed, until we get a result more to our liking ;-)
-
Let's hope you get a goal back then ;-)
-
Is the game taking place again then?
-
I think he means in the next round but even so as you point out it was two group stage teams in the final and if you look at the Champions League groups there are fewer shocks than recent years so much weaker teams coming through. If anything there are some very strong teams in 3rd place like Ajax, Celta Vigo, Osasuns, Besiktas and Auxerre.
-
No way in a million years will Barca be in the Uefa. Have you seen them in recent weeks? Unstoppable in Camp Nou. Quite a few eastern European teams that i'd fancy us against.
-
Krakow have taken the lead so third is wide open. We don't need to win as 2nd would not be a disaster with some of the teams coming out of the Champions League.
-
They are battering Feyenoord at the moment. Can't believe the difference in Drenthe at the moment but I suppose he didn't have to cope with pace last week.
-
If we finish 2nd I can guarantee we couldn't play Newcastle or Spurs as the 2nd place teams play the Champions Lague teams ;-) Interestingly the draw for the next two rounds takes place on Dec 15th so we can a bit of forward planning and start working out our route to the quarters!!!

Real shame he didn't get in as we really thought he would, didn't seem much organisation at all so seemed quite likely. -

Did you find many places staying open past 01.00 or did you not last that long? -

Ok SG seeing as you are so embarrassed I did a quick bit of research. The figure on the left is 3 years ago and the one on the right is current. Man City 44,354 39178 Boro 30398 27647 Bolton 26795 23125 Rovers 24376 21369 They are the 4 most significant ones this year and I can't be bothered to them all. Some clubs have improved like Arse, Chelsea and Man U, the rest have remained about the same or dropped slightly. The point is though you can bang on all about how ashamed you are but open your eyes and you will see it affecting a lot more clubs than just us. -

Will he chuff as like. That's why I can't stand the bloke. When they choose to play football Chelsea can be great but why must they spoil it with their 'tactics' to disrupt Messi, & Ronaldinho. Mourinho's bleating is simply as embarrassing as the biaised commentary when you watch Drogba, Robben, Fat Frank & Carvalho to name the main culprits for play acting. When we played an 'in your face' style againt them a few years ago you never heard the end of it. John 'JT' Terry being the biggest cry baby of the lot. They can dish it out but they certainly cannot take it. -

Had to give up as never got near the front of the queue. Thankfully Stuwilky has very kindly offered to get my tickets as he's had to give up on the phone and go down. I reckon it's just so he can perv at this girl they all talk about. Cheers anyway Stu. -

Paul, It's not a case of people just wanting to slag the Ticket Office. It is genuinely a problem. I have tried for the last 2 days but I cannot sit on the phone especially to an 0870 number for 30 mins plus. I can understand why they are busy but it doesn't help me and if someone who considers themselves pretty loyal is getting extremely peeed off then imagine if I was just ringing on the off chance for tomorrow night. At a time when the club are trying every thing they can to shift more tickets, it's a little unfortunate to say the least. -

Incidentally does anyone know what is going on with the ticket office? Have they sacked all the staff? I tried three times yesterday on the phone and again today and have so far never got higher than 10th in the queue and cannot justify the wait whilst i;m at work so still have no Uefa tickets. It's bizarre as i've usually got through immediately unless a big game was ahead. No point the club emailing me with offers galore if I can't get through to take advantage is there? -

If you think Money has anything to do with it you're more stupid than we've given you credit for. -

Lee would you know if there would be any facility for people to drop off applications for Feyenoord or not? I don't fancy queueing for ages but understand if they want every window just doing tickets for the match? Will the TO be open after the match? cheers -

Chatting to a citeh mate at work today who confirmed they had sold less than 2k so far. Prices are an issue of that there is no doubt. However there is also a general apathy amongst many fans of clubs. People have gotten out of the habit of going the games and it will be tough to get them back. -

If you want a deifinite then the Sports Bar or Walkabout, both on Quay st just off Deansgate will show them. Just had a thought, O'Shea's on Whitworth st close to Oxford rd shows live sport as does Bankrupt(or the Overdraft as it's more commonly known ;-) next to 5th Ave.
