  1. Not the only member of staff on his way.
  2. We do know that they weren’t deemed good enough by the players to sign.
  3. Seems the overwhelming response is positive, which should mean we sell a load. I’m not a big kit buyer, but for me Rovers colours should always be reversed on the back. That’s my gripe. I’d also be interested to see what the overall quality is like as my experiences with Macron in the past haven’t been good. I like the rose detail on the blue section though. Some nice touches, but a bit far away from tradition for my liking.
  4. Hate how the colours aren’t reversed on the back.
  5. A lot of those age old things we were taught growing up playing the game are in direct contrast with how it tends to be played now. Playing it across your own goal would’ve got you a rollicking in the not too distant past and it happens all the time now. And imagine a player saying he took the man and ball after a crunching tackle.
  6. We are well funded, but terribly run. The fact we are terribly run makes the funding necessary. That one is for you @Leonard Venkhater
  7. Speaking from experience, I can confirm this was the case for me. However, I completely understand that some people will have reached the end of their tether. When you consider that we’d still be making completely unsustainable losses even if we sold every seat at 400 quid a year, it just makes you realise the entire situation is futile.
  8. I think Jack coming along and doing what he did was more like winning the lottery. Where we are right now is like a lottery winner who has pissed away all their fortune, their house is in ruins and they’re back on the dole.
  9. Yeah, I think I’ve seen you mention it a time or two. And I do get it. Unfortunately the last decade has undoubtably turned a large number of fans off. Waggott continues to show he is not just out of touch, but completely incompetent with his approach to tickets. 5k is very poor, and I doubt we will shift that many.
  10. The same blind optimism that Waggott showed when he came up with that pathetic £10,000 raffle
  11. I’ve not got mine yet. Still planning on doing. Think 5k would be optimistic at this point though.
  12. Venky’s and all their waste of space appointments reaping what they sowed.
  13. Bringing in a head of recruitment and failing to recruit any players this window would be absolutely typical of the current incarnation of Blackburn Rovers.
  14. Some new merchandise (and new prices for some of the older stuff) at https://roversradio.co.uk/shop Competition on Twitter too
  15. A lot of centre halves!
  16. Of course we don’t need a third kit to prevent any clashes. However, I expect that having a third kit will be seen as an ideal opportunity to squeeze a few more quid out of our dwindling supporter base.
  17. Although we seem to be struggling to get one out, I bet we have a third kit this year.
  18. Clean lines and even stripes and that could’ve been good. Looks like they’ve gone for the confused barcode look though.
  19. What is the role of a director of football? I think it probably differs massively from club to club. When we tried it for 5 minutes with Kenny he did nothing but cast a shadow. Another notably terrible example is Dennis Wise at Newcastle. The set up will only work where clubs are really geared up for it. Historically and culturally in English Football teams employ managers to head up coaching and “football operations”. Whatever titles are bestowed on people, generally in English football the manager is ultimately responsible for all of it. I doubt very much that John Park will be a director. In fact I guarantee he won’t be. We already have a CEO who is a frustrated failed agent who is more bothered about getting involved in player (and property) deals than ensuring the efficient running of the club, and setting ticket prices isn’t even in his remit. It seems to me there is just a lot of obsessing over titles, and the DoF one seems to get people particularly excited. I can’t see many managers of English clubs being happy with players being brought in without them having the final word, let alone not having any day in the matter. That said, I’m sure our lot would put up with whatever the Rao’s decide. I suppose it’s just another way of people getting away with being slopey shouldered. How long before we hear the usual defenders spouting “It’s not Mowbray’s fault X player is crap, John Park signed him!”, when in reality his job is scouting.
  20. I know the idea of a director of football is in vogue at the minute, but nobody in England seems to know exactly what they are and what to do with them. Head of recruitment I think is just a fancy title, the 2021 version of chief scout.
  21. So the rumblings of disagreements on players between Mowbray and the the recruitment team should be a thing of the past… Less Harwood-Bellises and More Ayalas to look forward to.
  22. Sorry about this… Unsure if there were maybe some issues with the platform, but it seems to be working now. https://roversradio.airtime.pro/# Choose “Podcast” from the menu, you can either play directly from there (which can take a few seconds to kick in) or download.
  23. Sorry if you didn’t like it. Perhaps I got a bit carried away, but there is a serious point in there about how our convoluted decision making processes and unclear remits aren’t really conducive to effective transfer business. I think 168 pages with nothing more concrete than a couple of Nixon stories attests to this.
