  1. I like the shade of blue and the Rovers FC print. Not a fan of the collar. The shirt would be alright with a better sponsor and logo. Hate seeing that on our shirt.
  2. I had forgotten about the Wigan own goal. That only reinforces my opinion that he was trying his best to force his way out. We've seen unhappy players force moves at other clubs before, so most of us know what that can look like. I've not seen something like that, though. This is what I mean by it wouldn't happen under a real manager and a real setup. We had neither. Our setup at the time was, imo, ridiculous. Weak, no accountability, distant owners who were hesitant in making decisions. Players knew it. Agents knew it. Duffy probably knew it too. That kind of brass neck only appears in that kind of environment, imo. Coyle in the dugout. How seriously are the players taking a guy intent on 5 a side games in training, rewarding them with doughnuts, and telling them he's the best striker at the club? (even if jokingly) A couple of our former players were laughing their backsides off at Coyle and his methods on Under The Cosh not so long ago, which points towards the respect he was held in. We also had Cheston, a numbers man, being tasked with allsorts above the manager. He was even being wheeled out at meetings with the fans. To be fair to him, he had a brilliant manager lined up for us, but his pick was seemingly bypassed for Coyle to come in instead. How likely was it for Cheston to take Duffy to task, if, hypothetically, it was a deliberate chain of events? The prick got his move to Brighton a week later and it was all seemingly forgotten about. Not all of us have forgot about it though. He is in the Orr, Best and Stokes bracket for me.
  3. I agree with that. However, I wasn't looking at the Duffy situation from a betting angle. I don't know if anything like that was at play, or even if anything came out later on about him in that regard. I'm looking at it and wondering whether it was a case of 'let me leave or else I'll be a prick' about that night. That's based on how his performance looked, the fact that he wanted out and that he rejected a new deal only a day before the game. It didn't look or feel right and still doesn't.
  4. I don't think he would be able to kick a ball again. These pricks wouldn't dare do that under a real setup and manager. They only took the piss here due to absent leadership and the easy street culture. On the football side of things, that appears to be changing now, thankfully.
  5. It was. He rejected a new deal a day before the Cardiff game, according to the link below, and signed for Brighton a week later. Another tosser in a long line of them to have turned up here under this regime. https://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/shane-duffy-has-completed-a-transfer-away-from-blackburn-rovers-92936
  6. No, not that I'm aware of. I think the poster was referring to that Cardiff game and how it looks.
  7. Scored two own goals and got sent off in the same game for Rovers away at Cardiff in 2016. We lost 2-1. Make your own mind up after seeing it:
  8. What a delivery from Pedersen. Love the whip he gets on that. He used to get wicked pace on them too. Excellent header from Dickov for the goal, made it look easy when it isn't in reality.
  9. Most of these videos have been shared on here in various threads such as the Nostalgia one and the relevant player threads such as the Andy Cole, Brereton, Armstrong etc ones. However, they may have got lost amongst new posts and subsequently been missed by visitors and members of the forum, new and longstanding alike. Therefore, I've decided to create a specific thread for these compilation videos, where they can be easily found in one place and viewed by all Rovers fans on here. Any other compilations in the future will be added to this thread to make for easier viewing. What memories and what brilliant times (in the main, before the takeover). If any of the Rovers hierarchy are looking on at this thread, I have three words for you. STANDARDS. RAISE. THEM. There are nine videos in total (for now): 1. Andy Cole 2. Dwight Yorke 3. Jon Stead 4. Paul Dickov 5. Craig Bellamy 6. Bradley Dack 7. Ben Brereton Diaz 8. Adam Armstrong 9. Brad Friedel (Legend. Not a goal comp, but Brad has to be included)
  10. Yeah, the fact he brazenly admits to that shows what he thinks about our club and his lack of respect. Not forgetting the final insult he still had to get in there, by likening Sunderland to a huge tanker and us to a little car. Some might say he was frustrated over how he left us and that's why he said it. I don't buy that. Venky's could not care less if somebody suggested that we were a little car. It means nothing to them. It would piss off a number of Rovers fans though. A man who couldn't bear the fact that we dared to criticise and question him. It was never his fault, no matter how poor results or performances became.
  11. He disrespected the club and the fans, that's why. He talked the club down and acted as though he was doing us a favour by being here. He gave it the "this is Blackburn Rovers, this club should be in the Premier League" line when we went down to L1 to play to the gallery. Mere lip service to keep the flak for relegation away from himself. His true colours were revealed when the pressure was on and he was getting stick for our poor run of form. "I don't need this", is what he said in one interview, when he was being questioned. I've not heard that from any manager of ours during the last 30 years. Then add in the 1995 comment, the shoulder shrugging and the not arsed demeanor seen many times on the touchline and in various post match interviews. Spirals in form are one thing, adding insult to injury are another. Why would you turn down a chance of instant promotion to the Prem, if, as he said, the owners were excited and wanted a double promotion? No serious manager in that situation would tell such an owner, to wait, calm down and that we need to build slowly instead. He's second only to Kean, and not by much, in terms of the total knobs to have managed this football club, in my view. JDT is much more respectful, has real pedigree in the game and comes across as a nice guy. Most importantly, he is serious about winning and sets high standards. A good fit for Rovers and hopefully he is backed with the players he wants to bring in, as I believe he could be the one to finally take us back up.
  12. The flying Finn. That celebration must have hurt, surely? Shefki was a decent backup to have around. Offered us something different:
  13. A random game which brings back memories for me: I remember being at a packed snooker club, during this game, watching United v Spurs, the one where Cole lobs the keeper and they win the title. Anyway, goal flash appears on the screen during the first half: "Newcastle 0-1 Blackburn. Jason Wilcox". Cue a big cheer, the only cheer, in the whole room from a young me and everybody breaking out in laughter. I hope the Glazers make a u-turn and call off this proposed sale. The bastards. Them and the Glazers.
  14. How is it possible to have a striker who scores 28 league goals for us one season, yet we manage to finish 15th that very season? (No answer required) Having said that, 64 goals in three and a half seasons is good going. Fair play to him.
  15. The ease with which you seem to get put on ignore these days, Matty. Without there even being anything to get upset about. It's a talent 😁.
  16. As Martin Tyler was being discussed a few pages back, I'll put this here. What a moment. What a time. "Let me say it once again".
  17. Sky suddenly remembering we existed and going all out in putting us on was head scratching at the time. I don't think they would do it to make us look crap though. Personally, I think JDT being our manager has a lot to do with it. He has a good reputation in the game from his playing days and is a relatively big name as a former AC Milan player and Danish international. A trophy winner as a manager too, before joining us. I think there's intrigue and interest there to see how he does. Not on the exact scale as Bielsa and Leeds, but similar in some ways. Plus, we are a big fish in this Division, no matter who tries to suggest otherwise. Throw in us being virtually top 6 all season and the JDT factor and we get what we saw with Sky. They sensed something was happening and didn't want to miss it. I think that's likely to continue next season too, even with Leeds and Leicester down. Leeds will surely be the number 1 pick most weeks. But Leicester? With Maddison, Barnes, Tielemans, Ndidi and more likely to leave, I'm not so sure there will be much interest in their games. I could be wrong on that one though.
  18. Why is that something to be commended? It is their duty as owners to cover the losses, losses which they are massively responsible for, or they face the consequences. It is not a grand noble gesture. Instead of pointing towards Wigan, why don't you and others who say the same, ever point towards Brighton and Brentford's owners instead? I thought you all want to be positive and think positively? Is it not positive to want to be where Brentford and Brighton are today? Would you not rather we had their owners instead? It's a defeatist, shoulder shrugging "oh well, move on", from the "they pay the bills" brigade using Wigan as some sort of weird comfort. All this under the guise of positivity. A false positivity that does nothing for the wellbeing of Blackburn Rovers, but one which emboldens the chancers within it.
  19. I wouldn't say it's that. Why were crowds still healthy in 99/00 and 00/01 if fans only want Premier League football? It's more to do with how recklessly and stupidly our solid position has been dismantled and thrown away by morons who know nothing about football. Morons who have, and who continue to, take the piss out of fans since their arrival in 2010. They do not respect the club or the fans, therefore thousands have told them to piss off in the best way they can think of. Despite all of the above, there is still a load of the fan base that speaks of their generosity, how good it is that they are still funding us and how we could be like Wigan or Bury without them. Am I missing something here? It is their duty to pay the bills as owners. This is not some noble gesture. They've turned us from a solid Premier League outfit to a Championship creche, scratching around for frees and loans, with PR making out players like Ennis are top signings. Yet we're expected to be grateful to them and "be careful what you wish for". Baffling. Absolutely baffling. What you fail to acknowledge and understand is that what these owners have done to the club is unbearable for many. There are fans who refuse to give them a penny, fans who won't set foot in the place until they are gone. That's their way of dealing with it. I don't say there's thousands waiting to make a return, many are likely gone for good, but to make out Venky's are just being used as an excuse is majorly insulting. Topping it off with Shearer and 'no Premier League' jibes, well, what can be said about that, without getting banned on here? The situation at the club is a joke. Only, no one's laughing. Standards are being lowered further and further by the year, with berks like Swag front and centre, but instead of any complaints, it's all being embraced with toxic positivity. Ensuring the club stays head down, under water. Anybody who speaks out against this or makes a stand is deemed "negative" and a "shit fan". Make it make sense. Those "negative" fans fiercely want the club to improve, that's why they call it out! Some of the excuses being made for these owners and their lapdogs are, honestly, unbelievable.
  20. No wonder Arsene Wenger didn't like us. Loved this side and that season.
  21. Yeah. He always came across as a good poster to me, humorous at times. Not sure what happened with the fitness arguments. Maybe the talk of John Bulls and Mrs T's Chippy caused the red mist to descend 😁.
  22. The game was a lot closer than people were expecting and I suspect Inter will be kicking themselves for not going at them more than they did. City weren't at their best, but did enough to get over the line. I thought Inter pressed and defended quite well for large parts of that game. They looked the more comfortable side in the first half and had City on edge at times. Ederson didn't look his usual self to me, had a couple of shaky moments, misplaced passes etc, but then produced a couple of key saves later on. The pressure of the game was evident on the City players, I thought. Fair play for winning it though. It's odd seeing them win it and personally feeling nothing much about it. Would I want Klopp to be there instead, celebrating a trophy win tonight? Certainly not. Ten Hag? No chance. With City though it's a case of 'Oh. Nice. Have we signed anybody yet?'.
  23. Cracking player for us. He added to what was an already exciting side containing the likes of Tugay, Dunn, Duff, Gillespie, when he arrived. He did well after a few of those had left the club too. His longe range pearler away at Charlton in the League Cup in 2005 is something that always comes to mind when he is mentioned. Oh, and the story about how Lucas Neill was saved from a potential beating as Thommo was alongside him, when out shopping at the Trafford Centre. Carragher has told the story himself. A couple of his mates saw Neill shortly after he had broken Carra's leg with a bad challenge at Ewood. They wanted to exact revenge and rang Carragher looking for the go ahead. However, as soon as they saw Thommo with Neill, they called it off.
  24. Yeah, there are so many ideas for t-shirts. Based on, both, current players and on our history. It just needs a bit of imagination. There are currently a few generic 'Rovers' and 'BRFC' printed designs in store for around £15-£20.
