  1. I get the sentiment of 'wait and see' or that 'the better deals normally turn up at the end of the window'. That would be a reasonable outlook from supporters of any normally ran club. That kind of expectation/hope reasonably applies to most normal clubs. We are anything but normal under this lot though. Apart from Eustace, I have zero confidence in any of Owen, Gestede or this fabled recruitment team to come up with what we need. It's becoming clearer to me that John Park was the man we needed to be there to find us those bargains. His departure is a blow and speaks volumes about the joke setup. I am already at the point of 'let Eustace decide who he wants, stfu Pasha/Swag/Gestede/Owen, sit down, and let the manager bring his targets in'. Eustace is the only one I trust in this setup. Adam Owen, what effing pedigree does he have to be picking out players for Blackburn Rovers? He's lucky to be in this position, IMO. Same goes for Gestede, who is wet behind the ears and learning on the job. Then you have the absurd situation where Pasha is giving thumbs up or down on important footballing matters. He knows nothing about football so who is he getting his advice from? We're expecting this lot to come up with the goods? Really? It's not a surprise our windows have generally been a joke for ages. All of us fans, the club, the town, we all deserve better than this shit. Think back over the past two years on this forum...the very same points stated in my opening paragraph were being made by posters towards me and others here I.e 'just wait until the end of the window, be patient, the best deals are at the end of the window, we will bring in quality, I trust Broughton'. Chaddy was one of those people and he is saying the exact same again this afternoon and evening. Positivity? Delusion? Wishful thinking? Call it whatever you want, but some people never learn. The 'quality' that we were told to wait for contained the likes of Mola, Ennis, Telalovic, Hirst, Fleck, Wahlstedt. There were a couple of good 'uns in Hyam, Brittain fair enough, but we almost always end up with disappointment late on under this regime. Surely, people can understand why there is some anger/unrest about our current lack of transfer activity? We've seen this play out so many times before. The same set of chancers are still sat at the top. If this post is made to look stupid come the end of the window and they bring in some proper signings, I'll happily own up to that and give them credit. It's looking like more of the same now though, unless Eustace can keep the pressure on and get what he wants. He is the only professional in that upper corridor that I trust. The man wants to win, we are seeing it on the pitch and I seriously like that.
  2. I like the look of Asante and think he could be the next 'main man' for us in the way that Armstrong and Sammie became. His numbers might not look impressive or his time at Coventry, but the eye test suggests to me that Asante is a player. He has looked dangerous whenever I have seen him, he's quick and he scored a cracker against us. Would bring something totally different to our frontline. I get the 'why is x club getting rid of him if he's that good' argument, but every club has those cases in their history, where they don't see what they have. Extreme examples, as Asante isn't anywhere near their levels, but Chelsea let Salah and De Bruyne leave once upon a time. Pep let Cole Palmer leave just recently. I just think Asante has that explosive look about his game based on watching him and it could click in a Rovers shirt. I'm not against it, but a side issue is that he is another former target which again questions what the recruitment team is doing.
  3. On the Mowbray topic, Firstly, it's good to see him back in the game and hopefully well enough to take on another managerial role. I don't wish ill on the guy. However, let's not forget the role Mowbray played in further lowering expectations at this club in order to save his own back. "The owners wanted a double promotion. I had to calm them down and I told them we need to build gradually". Why? I also think some of his comments have had a profound impact on large parts of our fanbase. The effects of which are still being felt/heard today. Talk about going for promotion under JDT and even today, and you are met with "be realistic, ffp, parachute clubs" etc by a lot of our fans. Some of it based on reason, but a lot of it IMO, due to Mowbray saying "you need £100m in order to go up", him talking about "doing it the right way" and labelling Luton and such similar promotions as 'miracles'. Our fanbase has lapped this up in the main and has taken to blaming other Rovers fans for "being negative" and "spoilt" for not accepting any of the above. Then we have another scenario whereby, any fan/poster who calls out this hierarchy and its lack of ambition is met with "you're stuck in the 90s, we don't have Shearer and Sutton anymore" yada yada. This is happening across social media (not so much on here) and in the real world. Somebody please point me towards one Rovers fan that is unhappy with Venky's because they are not seeing a repeat of 1995. It's nothing but a false, cheap shot, IMO, fuelled by Mowbray's "it's not 1995 anymore" comment. A comment that was made to save his own skin. Did anybody hear barbs about 1995 from some of our own fans towards unhappy fans under Bowyer, Lambert, Coyle? I don't remember hearing such back then. This 1995 nonsense has taken hold since Mowbray said it, IMO. Let's not even get on to him likening Rovers to a small car and Sunderland a huge tanker as he was departing. Good that he is back in the game and ok health wise, but I would never want him back at Rovers.
  4. Couldn't have put it any better, especially the bit in bold. 15 years of Venky abuse has led to many in our fanbase forgetting who they support. Phrases like "I'm a realist" and "this is our natural level" are nothing but coping mechanisms. We will be back as a club once all the poison has been flushed out.
  5. Still hurts seeing it now. We had a quality Chelsea side on the ropes that day:
  6. Looking at the names being linked, I can't help but wonder what the point is of the recruitment team that the club made a song and dance about putting together not so long back. It's looking like a bit of a facade to me and it seems like John Park might have had a similar feeling too. Jed Wallace. A player that Mowbray is said to have lined up to sign with the Rothwell sale money (neither ended up happening). If true, that's another former target we are revisiting. Where's the imagination? Where's the recruitment team? Brereton Diaz. Wasn't all that the first time round IMO, though better than what we have now. Fell off badly when we needed him most. Would be a lazy move by the club to just try for somebody they know as a former player. Again, where is the imagination? What is the point of the recruitment team? Brereton being better than what we currently have is true, but it feels to me like some are eager to rush him back as the alternative signings could be total shit. In that case, again, what is the point of the recruitment team? Also, the argument from some that Brereton would be better than signing an unknown pacey player suggests a lack of faith in recruitment to find what we need. Bamford. Another ageing, former Boro player. Hmm. Hello? Recruitment team? Anybody home?
  7. Gestede has openly stated his pride at us being a "development club". Waggott has openly said in interviews with Andy Bayes/Neil Yardley that he doesn't want to "put the club at risk" by trying to spend big. That LT poster is no Blackburn Rovers fan.
  8. For those who haven't seen it, here is the episode where the bastard discusses Rovers with Myles. Spoiler: contains tearjerking stories about what a difficult time it was for him and his family, Myles having mental health issues due to what the fans were saying etc. I don't have an issue with Myles. He seems an alright guy and it wasn't his fault he was signed up. That tosser though...
  9. Baker leaves, so we need an experienced replacement. What do you know? Here comes Adam Forshaw. Former Boro. Wake up, folks (those that are still sleeping). Nothing has changed. Pasha knows eff all about players. He couldn't tell you who is and who isn't a good player in a month of Sundays. There are people that will happily advise him though. Get the lot of these pricks out. Promotion has never been on the agenda here. Forshaw? F")£ off.
  10. Forget the tippy tappy stuff, get it out wide and crossed in: (The player Cole beats to the header? Sean Dyche 😀)
  11. Top class from Andy Cole:
  12. The only positive memory of Grabbi in a Rovers shirt:
  13. I really hope there is something in this rumour as that is an exciting link. I wouldn't want Brereton back, but Sulemana is rapid and would add a real threat for us on the break. I'm sure he holds a record for being the fastest player in the Prem, or something along those lines. It was suggested on another thread that Brighton might recall Cozier-Duberry in Jan. Ideally, I'd like us to keep him and bring in Sulemana too so that we have two pacey options. However, if it's a case of the former leaving to be replaced by the latter, I'd take that.
  14. Superb. Absolutely superb. This is Blackburn Rovers! Capable of special results and performances. No fear of any so called big names. This is starting to remind me a bit of the Hughes' days. Of course, we aren't near those highs yet nor do we have that kind of quality in our side, but I the recent resilience displayed is taking me back to that time. Our successful teams have always been built on being solid at the back. Tippy tappy and playing like Pep has never been our thing. Mixing it up and being resolute is our way. Eustace has got us organised and tough to break down. I have to give him huge credit for that. I thought Dolan was brilliant today, he never gave them a moment's rest. Tronstad was my MOTM though, swept everything up and made crucial blocks. Travis wasn't far behind either. Another so called big gun silenced at Ewood Park. We've always had it in us. A message for the hierarchy: back Eustace or piss off. This club is wasted on you. We want Rovers back in the Premier League. There is no reason why we can't do it. If you (the hierarchy) are scared of that prospect, again, piss off. What a week though. COYB.
  15. I heard one of the Rovers commentary team tonight mention that Hyam said Batth is often giving him direction/advice on the pitch and that having this type of experience alongside him has been a big help for him. It's why I always want us to go for experience ahead of hoping to rely on kids to fill in. Batth or Ash Phillips? It's Batth every time for me and that's not said with hindsight. If any of those kids are good enough, they will naturally break through as is the case at most clubs. I thought Hyam was finished last season, but he is slowly getting back to how he looked when he first arrived.
  16. Get in! A fantastic, composed performance and what a move to win it. Superb football to cut them up. I had a feeling we'd shut them out and take it 1-0. It's all well and good scoring five and six against Luton and Oxford, but this is Blackburn Rovers you're up against! A different proposition altogether. There's still life in this Football Club yet and every now and then we see signs of it. Imagine what our club can achieve without the bastards that are currently holding us back. An enjoyable evening. Shout out for the lads at the back who were excellent, throwing themselves in the way of everything and fair play to Hyam for being the match winner. COYB. Venky's Out. Waggott Out.
  17. I think tonight's the night Boro's run of goals dries up. They aren't all that, despite recent goals scored making them seem scary. It's not a true reflection of that Boro team, imo. We've got a good record there and I think we might come away with another win. 0-1. Ahead of the game, a blast from the past. Yordi 😊.
  18. I was just about to make a similar point. How many did we see called off due to heavy rain before 2010 and how many have we seen since? Wimbledon is the only one that I can think of pre this lot turning up. I remember there was a game against United in 2008 where it was absolutely bucketing down beforehand, worse than this, and the game still went ahead. There were many other times where we coped just fine with the rain. There was a game called off against Sunderland in 2005 but that was due to ice/snow on the pitch and outside the stadium making it unsafe for all. My point is, there is an element of truth to the River explanation but it is, imo, too easily covering up the lack of care and attention to pitch maintenance (amongst many other things) shown by these owners since they arrived. It's embarrassing that we are the only game called off today in the top two Divisions. It looks tin pot and that's exactly what these owners and their stooges running the place are and it's what they are turning the club into. The huge irony being that they view themselves as some sort of royalty that are doing us a favour. Piss off.
  19. Spot on. It's the now that matters. It always has. Winning is the name of the game, but not at Venky's polluted Rovers it isn't. No, demanding to win at this club under this regime is akin to bullying, being entitled and being spoilt, apparently. Remember Mowbray's "do they want a bully who just wants to win all the time, or somebody that can nurture and develop these players?" when talking about his successor. Then there was Broughton saying "do we adopt a win at all costs mentality, even at the cost of people's mental and physical health and wellbeing, or do we take a balanced approach, we need to be careful". I mean, wtf. Cut the bullshit and show us actual intent to win. We've got a Premier League to get back to. It's only been 12 years with the tossers being just the £200m+ down. It's the mentality from the top that filters down to all of these people when they come here and pollutes the atmosphere. No pressure, just keep us up, we can build towards promotion. Fans need to be patient. Fans don't understand. Only, no building ever takes place and every season ends up going the same way. Then every year or two down the line we have a new yes man in place telling us we need to be patient as it takes time. They have no intention or desire to go up. That's how I see it.
  20. Wasn't sure which thread to put this in, but came across this on YouTube. Not seen it mentioned elsewhere on the forum, so thought it's worth sharing. It looks likes Myles has set up his own podcast channel and has had his dad make a few appearances on there over the past couple of months. In this video they talk about Rovers for a bit and the 'hostility' they faced back then, in particular, the difficult time Myles experienced during that period. Something that pricked my ears was between 8:40 - 9:05 when the agent mentions the good relationship he had 'with the THEN owners'. It could just be an innocent choice of wording on his part, and I'm reading too much into it, but it caught my attention as the owners back then are still the same ones today i.e Venky's are still here. For what it's worth, I think Myles is a decent lad. He comes across as somebody who was just trying to make it as a footballer, but got caught up in the crossfire at the time.
  21. Another suspected power struggle? Who would have thought it? It's not like these power struggles have been going on since the rat and his instructor polluted the air. That's just me with my conspiracy hat on, though. Shebby v Shagnew. Shelfy and the Berg situation. Warnock or Coyle as the new manager in 2016. JDT/GB v the car salesman and his shadow buddy. "Sustainable Premier League Club" v "Erm, Just stay up mate and develop the kids". This morning Gestede states how we are going to look to loan young Premier League players again as we are good for player development. This evening, we hear Park has gone. Park or Gestede? Which one of those is likely to find promotion aiding/winning signings based on their knowledge and experience of recruiting players? The one who is championing signing young players on loan and repeating the party line to the LT about patience, amongst other things, is still here. That says enough for me. We've been waiting 12 years, Rudy. You aren't the problem here, but you are pushing their narrative. Those of us who still have a pulse and see through the bullshit, have a major issue with these owners and will continue to do so until they sell up. These owners have made no attempt in 12 years to restore the club to where they found us. We have seen them twice ignore us being in the top 6 for two consecutive January's, we have seen them piss JDT off and so much more over the 14 years of garbage, yet they think we can be fobbed off with empty words about patience every year? Bollocks. None of this comes as a surprise to us here, as Park has something about him and isn't going to put up with the likely shitshow that is coming in January. The important thing, imo, is finding out who the parties are to these seemingly recurring power struggles. Some suggest it is Mr and Mrs D v the blinged idiot and pals. It could be, it could be something else too. Whatever it is, the message remains the same: Venky's Out!
