  1. I think the bastards will do ok against the lesser sides this season. City were always going to wipe the floor with them, but in small patches last night, they looked like they could play a bit. Koleosho and Amdouni looked alright, I thought. I think they have more about them than Luton and Sheff United, sadly, but let's see what those two actually serve up this weekend.
  2. It was fantastic. Rovers shirts popping up everywhere. Big interest in the club. If something crazy was to happen and we started seeing tourists and day trippers turning up at Ewood, would it bother me? Not one bit, but that's just me. I get the 'this lot weren't here during the tough times' argument, but from a club point of view, it would mean we were going places. Would love for it to be tested out, of course.
  3. A Shearer masterclass. The chip over the keeper. What a goal.
  4. Haha. I actually bumped into a Spurs fan randomly in Birmingham recently. He spotted my Rovers t-shirt and was saying how Cardiff 2002 still hurts him to this day. Good! 😁. He did express sympathy at what Venky's have done to the club though, so fair play. They can have Ash Phillips. That's small fry compared to how we have hurt them in the past. Shearer, Duffer, Cole. They saw the real deal.
  5. Great draw. Just what we needed, another good chance to progress. Surely, this has a chance of being televised? Salford v Leeds will be guaranteed as one. There's Tranmere v Leicester and Chelsea v AFC Wimbledon in the running too, I'd expect.
  6. An Alan Shearer hat-trick at White Hart Lane. Beating them in injury time too. Oh yes 😊.
  7. Roque's debut and a belting winner from Derbyshire:
  8. Looking forward to it as the manager is taking it seriously, and he's giving players a chance to impress him. JDT is very much like Hughes, imo, in terms of mindset. I doubt there will be any complacency. Seeing us lose against the likes of Morecambe, Shrewsbury, Scunthorpe in the recent past was bad enough. What made it worse was the 'oh well' kind of vibe afterwards. JDT doesn't seem to have that mentality and won't stand for it. Hopefully, a win tomorrow and another favourable draw in the next round.
  9. Huge tanker (rhyming slang?) 1-2 Tractor. Meanwhile, the little car revs up in the background, unnoticed.
  10. Hopefully, just in time for you to see our new man, Sigurdsson. I'm looking forward to seeing him myself. Anybody who can score at The Bernabeu in the Champions League is certainly worthy of playing for this club of ours 😊.
  11. Great start. When our passing game fully clicks, we're going to be a real handful. I can seen us dominating a few teams at Ewood this season. There were some excellent passages of play today, passing with purpose, forward and quick. JDT's work with the squad on that front, evident. We haven't played this kind of football for a long time. It isn't fully there yet, but I like what I have seen of it today. We just need that cutting edge in the final third. We played neat and tidy up until it got to the wings where it often broke down, or we failed to get shots away. Travis was superb and was involved in everything. He looks much improved. Tronstad made a few wayward passes, but improved as the game went on. My initial thought is that he is a better version of Corry Evans. Impressive display from Leonard, unlucky not to come away with a hat-trick. The promise is there, not everybody has the instinct to get into those positions. There's more to come from him. Composed performances from Carter and Hyam at the back too. Finally, that fist pump from JDT at the end. Yes, Jon! it's you, the players and us fans who are in this together.
  12. What an evening this was. Ripley and Wilcox unplayable, as was Sutton:
  13. True, it was an idiotic thing to do. It did cost us in the end, as they scored a late equaliser.
  14. We had a big problem last season where if we went a goal down, it meant game over for us, most of the time. That was despite having BBD in the side and Dack in reserve. I worry that problem is going to get a whole lot worse this coming season. I just can't see where the goals are going to come from. As it stands, we're hoping somebody like a Markanday or Leonard surprises us in a major way, due to a lack of new additions. They might do, but it's a big ask. Rovers 0-1 West Brom.
  15. If GB wasn't sat where he is now, I'm convinced it would be an ex Hibs or ex Boro manager, or somebody who has been linked to either job in recent years. Nothing to do with the clubs themselves, but an agent related pattern. Garry Monk Woodgate Cocu. I'm expecting to see them linked by the press. Monk probably the favourite, imo, to be next in as Rovers manager. We'll see what, or if anything, has changed should JDT walk.
  16. World Cup winner? That doesn't impress Andy Todd 😁.
  17. They most likely have shrunk, though I can't say for definite. I haven't had Monster Munch in years, but the crisp packets that I do open are half air, half product. Remember when crisp packets used to be almost full? Even the big sharing packs are it these days. Starting at a touch over half full.
  18. Agree with all of this, especially the bit in bold. There are so many club shops, not only at Premier League level, but at Championship and below, that put ours to shame. This isn't having a go for the sake of it, or trying to pin everything on the owners. However, as a regular club shop visitor, I have seen the decline over the years, and it all started when these owners came in. It wasn't like this before. The lack of interest and the low standards from the top have filtered down throughout the entire club. It's disappointing as I want to buy things from there, but imo, there isn't much worth buying.
  19. Oh, that is a good question. I loved jammy dodgers back when I was a kid, and generally like jam based bakery products. I think I would have them just outside of my top 5 though. Maybe in 6th or 7th.
  20. Yeah, think I've been a bit harsh on the chocolate digestive there. I think of the Viennese Whirl as a biscuit too, though there has been a bit of a 'debate' about it being a cake. Substitution: Off - Bourbon Creams On - Viennese Whirls He's going straight up top! 😁.
  21. Quality, quality goal. The passing, the movement and a clinical finish.
  22. Posted this on the other thread last night, but it's more at home here: Anybody for a biscuit top 5? Are Viennese Whirls a cake or a biscuit? If it's the latter, then they are high on this list. 1. Crunch Creams 2. All Butter Shortbread Petticoat Tails 3. Maryland Choc Chip Cookies 4. Bourbon Creams 5. McVitie's Chocolate Digestives
