  1. Benni....Welcome to Ewood Park.....may you bring pace, skill, flair and 25 goals !!! I totally agree. We will no doubt miss Bellamy but Dickov was starting to get right on my t*ts last season....his constant diving and subsequent moaning while play was going on around him Benni + Roberts is a good start and with the addition of Jeffers and another forward and/or attacking midfielder we will be in good shape
  2. Duff signing for £5 million = crazy I read that there could be other payments in the future but how can he be worth just £5 million ? To me this just proves that Roman Abramovich has so much money that he does not even care how much it will take for Chelski to become the biggest and best team in the world. It is obvious that Mr Abramovich is not happy unless his beloved team wins the Champions League. Therefore, one can only presume that Mr Mourinho has been told to get rid of the surplus, free up the wage bill and sign better players (Ballack, Shevchenko etc). But what does this do to the transfer market ? It makes the £6 million we got for Bellamy look like a decent figure, but we all know he was worth much more How bizarre !
  3. Sorry if this question has already been answered..... but....now that Rovers have secured 6th place, what is it's value in terms of prize money from the Premier League....searched the internet with little success Thanks in advance
  4. Good win last night but not sure about the performance...the guys looked very tired and so I hope they make the most of their break. MGP did not look 100% and I think Hughes could have given Peter the full 90 mins...his cross for the 2nd goal was pure class.....a real star for the future ! West Brom and Everton were disappointing and had we got 6 points from those 2 games we would have seen us in 4th...hopefully reaching the magic 40 points will spur the lads on to bigger and better things
  5. In my opinion........... Another great performance last night v Man Ure was overshadowed by the obvious fact that Kuqi once again showed he is not good enough to play premiership football at the top level. OK, he has scored goals and played well against the some of the lower teams and I would never ever doubt his commitment and passion and yes, he did setup the goal with his backward header..... BUT, for a big guy, he was second best to Ferdinand all night and his touch, crosses and shooting were not good enough. You could clearly see the frustration on Bellamy's face time after time and it will not be long before he loses patience with Kuqi on the pitch. I still think that Bellamy needs someone big, strong and with an aerial presence beside him to compliment his pace and agility....I just don't think that someone is Kuqi
  6. Oh dear....not a good start 1st it's a drop in season ticket sales and then I find out Nelsen is injured....I thought it could not get any worse....how wrong could I be !!! I thought we made too many mistakes (even though it was the 1st game) and in this league mistakes tend not to go unpunished. The defence looked shakey without Nelsen and the usual man sat just in front. Midfield seemed overrun at times during the second half and I also think that buying 2 strikers will not end the goal drought if there is no one to feed them the crosses/passes they need to get into the danger areas to score. On that basis, I think we could still struggle this season but I am going to remain optimistic for as long as possible Role on Saturday !!!!
  7. saves me writing anything....I think you said it all !!!
  8. A poor game but this reflects on Hughesy's tactics.....don't get me wrong cos I ain't complaining....they worked a treat and yet another solid performance/clean sheet will have done wonders for confidence and our premiership survival....here's hoping for more of the same on Saturday
  9. Not read through all 26 pages but I have just sent this to the F.A.... F.A Feedback "I write to complain about the kick-off time of the Arsenal/Blackburn FA Cup semi-final. As a Blackburn fan who holds a home season ticket, as well as travelling to many away games, I am used to being a mug at the expense of the FA and SKY TV with regards to the constant changing of fixtures and kick off times to suit TV and NOT the supporters. It is an absolute disgrace that you think it is OK to have an FA Cup semi-final kicking off at 12.15pm when both sets of supporters have to travel over 150 miles. It is bad enough that fans have to do this for a league game (e.g. Southampton v Blackburn earlier this season - a 12.15 kick-off and a journey of over 250 miles) but for such an important game like this is a real kick in the teeth for the loyal fans of both clubs. I know exactly how you will respond....by telling me that it is in my own interests and for my own safety that the game will kick off at this time and that it is the Police who have the final say......rubbish !!! SKY TV rule football.....NOT the FA. You are their puppets and do exactly what you are told. OK....I accept that there would be no Premier League if it was not for SKY's financial support but, for once, why don't you put the fans first and not your pockets !!!! " Write to them and tell them what you think....it probably won't do any good but it feels great to get it off your chest...set of money grabbing t*ssers !!!
  10. Great result !!! Don't remember going that mental celebrating a goal.......errrrrr except maybe when MGP scored the winner last Tuesday !!! When done to Jon Stead....the relief was soooooo evident. Big credit to Toddy and Nelsen....superb yet again. Nissa looks better and even Lucas' form seems to have picked up.......a settled defence was always going to be the key and I think Hughes has now found it....plus Brad seems happier now he has the same 4 infront of him !! Thommo also played better....the wing suits him better than centre-mid, and the Axe had a solid game and made some good tackles as did Flitty and MGP who both worked hard and ran their socks off But I must give the final honour to Steven Reid....one of his best performances in the blue n white shirt. Well done to Rovers, Hughes and his team....a crucial result that will go a long way to help securing Premiership football for another season
  11. He has great energy and has improved dramatically since his arrival. Credit to Hughes for waiting for the right time to play him and credit to MGP for another superb goal last night.....one which will live long in the hearts of the Rovers' fans as the goal that beat the Dingles......again !!!
  12. Nelsen had yet another great game last night....a good solid performance to say he had to babysit Mokoena all night. I have been impressed with him from day 1 as he had a great debut game away at Pompey and he has carried that form through to being automatic choice next to Toddy..... Todd and Nelsen have been a revelation at centre half and long may it continue !!!
  13. Admittedly, he said this prior to Euro 96 and I understand that he had a great tournament and it was his home town club that came in for him....... ........but, In my opinion it was the old chestnut........ "I'm not going anywhere" which he said at the end of season 1995/1996 that left most Rovers fans pretty pi$$ed off
  14. Oh dear....this is a tricky one to decide....should I go with my heart or my head ? The heart says Garner and Jansen.....both loved/love playing for the club and are loved by the fans. Unfortunately, the head rules and so I just have to pick Shearer as one of my front 2......although the manner of his departure from the club almost knocked him down my list, he is/and probably always will be the greatest goalscorer our club will ever have Although Shearer preferred Mike Newell as his strike partner, I am going to pick Speedie as my second choice.....he was amazing for us back in 1991/1992 and his Play-Off performances v Derby and Leicester will be ones I will never forget. Therefore: Number 9: Shearer Number 10: Speedie
  15. Gold has said that Savage moving to a "smaller" club ? Who do they think they are ? What the **** have they ever won ?
  16. Todd....or Savage (if he ever arrives?) If pushed....and with no disrespect towards Todd......i'd go for Savage due to experience....Todd has enough to do sorting out the defense without having to worry about what's happening further up the pitch
  17. Savage ???? ......one thing for sure is that he will give Hughes 110%.....still think he's a bit of a prat tho !! Although better than some of the other players mentioned as possible replacements for BF Dyer ? god help us !!
  18. 1st post in a long time...... I am not suprised by this news and BF's agent seems to have done his job well....I think it is so wrong that John Viola has been able to orchestrate BF's possible move back to Scotland by telling Rangers that he and his family have still not settled in England and that he would welcome a move back to Rangers...now BF is unsettled and he is starting to believe that a move back home is what he really wants...nothing would have come of this 10 years ago and so it just goes to prove that agents have taken over and are ruining the game...... ......and even though he might be coming to Rovers, I believe this to be the case with Savage too....Hughes comes to Rovers, Savage loves Hughes and so he gets his agent to do a deal. As said in one of the previous posts....where is the loyalty to thier contracts ? I think that if he does go then this will be a massive step back for BF as he will have only 4 competitive games a season (plus any cup matches where Rangers are paired with the old enemy) and so I feel he is showing a total lack of ambition. If it were Man Ure, Arse or Chelski then it would be a different matter, but I don't think he has shown enough while playing for Rovers to get a move to one of the big 3....so it's back to the highlands and the easy life. It will be sad to see him go because he has shown glimpses of the player he was said to be, but injury and playing in a poor team (under Souness) has not brought the best out of him.....I would like to say that one day he will prove to everybody that he is a top class player, but at 27 (and another 3-4 years at Rangers) will leave him with no where to go to prove it....such a waste Anyway....if he does go then I hope that the money is spent on a striker as I would hope that the Savage transfer money is a separate issue.
  19. Very happy with Hughes' appointment.....role on Saturday. It might even make a few of the glory hunters come back down to Ewood and watch ? Having read through most of the posts on this thread, I am not alone in thinking that he will give it 110% and that his inexperience in managing a premier league team will not hinder him in any way, as managers such as Coleman and Curbishley have already proved. Have to also agree that people like Hoddle, Graham and Venables are out of work for a reason....Give Hughesy a chance !!! I don't want to repeat what others have already said, but he has worked with top class managers all his life and will have taken all the positives from that. Giggs to me sums up the whole Wales thing...he never wanted to play for Wales until Hughesy took over. Hughesy has made him want to play and, most importantly, to believe...plus he also got Giggs' respect ! Good luck Hughesy and welcome back to Ewood Park. I wish you all the best and will be 110% behind you to succeed and get Rovers back on track.
  20. I thought we were very poor on the day and it could easily have been 5 or 6 (maybe the penalty curse goes with Souness and not the Rovers....I hope so !!). I don't deny the efforts made by some of the players, but I feel that our new manager has a big job on his hands. Regarding Saturday's team: Friedel - I don't like to criticise Brad as he has been one of Souey's best buys, but he should have dealt with the corner that lead to the 1st goal Neill - cracking tackle on Bellamy, but at fault for letting the little welsh t**t cross the ball for their 2nd Short - as per Neill...some good tackles but at fault for the 2nd goal Matteo - looks lost sometimes - lack of understanding with his fellow teammates ? Gray - booed all game but gave 100% Flitcroft, Ferguson, Pedersen - I list all 3 together as they played a similar game - invisible !! Dickov, Stead - both never really stopped running but had very little service Douglas, Bothroyd - both made very little impact on a game that was already lost These are obviously my opinions and will probably be shot down....but that is how I saw the game (from a seat that felt like I was a mile from the pitch !!!) And before anyone mentions that I have missed one player out of my list......the less said about that daft Aussie ****** the better. It will only be a matter of time before he takes over from Wilcox as the "Riverside boo boy". I keep reading that he is this great talent but he is playing without confidence.....I just don't see it.....he's ******* crap.........sorry
  21. So you believe that basically we have £330 million available? I really cannot see this being correct. I think that when a new manager comes in he will surely be given a decent sum to spend I was told that £330 million was in the JW trust fund.....how much of that money is for Rovers I couldn't say..as I understand it, this money is for the various different interests that our sadly missed leader had while he was alive....and so even if only £30million of that was for the Rovers, then it must be made available before it is too late !!!
  22. I have been told (from a very reliable source who will remain anonymous) that the JW trust fund is now worth a staggering £330 million.....that's a lot of "safeguarding" !!!!! I know that this money is our for the club's future and that it will stop us from suffering the same fate as Leeds, but what f**king good is that money if we get relegated ?!? Williams and the trust fund board MUST give the new manager money to spend...Saturday's performance only emphasised this !!!!!
  23. Dear Mr Souness, Thank you very much for all that you have done for Blackburn Rovers FC these past few years. I will be forever grateful to you for returning us to the Premier League and for that magical day in Cardiff.....which will live with me forever. It is such a shame that you have felt it time to leave.....although I have to say that I am not too bothered, due to the fact that you suddenly seem to have developed terrible brain damage in the tactical region? Anyway.....Good luck in your new job at Newcastle and I hope you will enjoy managing your team in the old first division Best Wishes BigDom PS....how good is Saturday going to be...I can't wait to be sat in St James taking the michael.....the Geordies are fooking livid !!! LOL x 10000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
  24. Bring back King Kenny.....with Shearer as his number 2 !!!
