  1. No premier league club will be bidding on Dack. Who's going to spend 10m+ on a 24-year-old with a couple of good league one seasons and who only makes national headlines when he finds himself in the gossip section of the papers? Next summer he might go if he really does well this year, but there's no way bids are coming in for him from premier league clubs before the window closes.
  2. I don't get this panic. There are plenty of teams who are still waiting to do major business, we're not alone. We've got our key players to sign new deals and brought in a couple of players and I'm sure that by the end of the window we will have made our moves. Judge the window at the end, no point being worried now. It would have been great to have everything wrapped up by now and to have a squad together, but if we have to bring players in on deadline day we will still have a season ahead of us. I'd rather make the right move than the first move.
  3. I've seen mention of it on here, but is there an xbox app? Or an app for smart tvs?
  4. Happy we played a strong side. Happy we slightly changed our approach. Happy that we won. As others have mentioned, winning is a habit and to follow a relegation with two defeats to start the season could have potentially really hurt morale. Hopefully we can produce a similar performance this weekend, but Coventry aren't terribly far behind the standard of opposition that we will be facing this year and that was a good performance away from home. I'm also very pleased that we responded well to letting them get back into the game.
  5. Worked fine for me. Obviously not great when it's a single-camera affair, a bit dizzying at times, but it isn't bad. If that is the minimum standard I'll be happy with the service for 130 euros.
  6. Great to have the podcast back. Well done.
  7. I always quite liked Mowbray, I liked the way he tried to get teams to play and his honesty with how he responded to questions. Both of those traits have probably led to his undoing at some of his previous jobs, but I think they could be a breath of fresh air for us. I am not sure exactly who else we were expecting to take the job of fighting against relegation in the Championship, but he is at least experienced and respected. For the time being he is being honest and has handled the questions well, let us hope that this continues and that the wins and points follow.
  8. In the 'academy' products you can see Valdes (still three years with another academy), Pique (time spent with two other clubs during key years and was bought back for 5m), Alba (similar to Pique and bought back for 4m), Fabregas (similar to Pique, but in this case for 40m), The only true products of their academy that started that match are Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta and Messi and it is still a starting line up that cost nearly 200m euros to assemble. Hardly a victory for football.
  9. Six of one, half a dozen of the other. Big Team A 3-4 Big Team B Don't know why so many on here spend their time hating the likes of City and United but can then have a soft spot for teams like Real, Barcelona or Bayern. Local rivalries aside, big clubs are big clubs. Some will have a few more home grown players in them at any one time, but they are all spending obscene amounts of money and that makes them good. Don't know why people feel that it wasn't a red. Contact was minimal, but once he got goalside he had to avoid making any contact and it was a deserved red card. Real were the side that got the better decision when Real was clearly tripped outside of the box - something that was clear as day even at full speed.
  10. Want You Back - Take That
  11. Unfortunately not, I'm in France at the moment. It ends up coming through beinsport.
  12. I'm getting the occasional highlight through the tv coverage that I have, but I can't get rovers player to work, so I can't add to that full commentary. I'll see anything important within a minute or so of it happening, but a bit frustrating.
  13. Sad news, my condolences to his family.
  14. Those were really tough conditions to play in. It wasn't a pretty game, but it was an interesting one.
  15. Blister in the Sun - Violent Femmes
  16. The problem is that he said that there is no racism. I would say that racism is a relatively small problem in professional football and it is rarely an issue (although something that should always be taken seriously and punished severely), but the problem for Blatter is that this comes not long after his ridiculous comments about homosexuals attending the world cup in Qatar and on the back of several other comments that could be construed as bigoted or hateful at worst or careless and insensitive at best. They are probably closer to the latter, but well thought out public comments concerning sensitive issues rather comes with the job description of being the President of FIFA.
  17. That's a bit unfair. Shearer continued to be fantastic at Newcastle for years. It wasn't his fault that his time there was ruined by the incompetence of some of the managers that he had, the lack of quality in the rest of the squad and his own troubles with injuries. He is certainly in the discussion as the greatest all around forward of the modern era. It's not often that you see a forward who can truly do everything. On top of it, he didn't really 'bottle' it. Walker refused to let him go to United, so he instead chose to go to the club that he had always supported. I personally applaud him for that. I wish that more players would look to fulfill their boyhood dreams rather than simply chase trophies and money. He wouldn't have gone there unless he had been pushed a bit, but he still ended up at what I think was the right place for him. It's an insult to Shearer to even compare him to the likes of Neill, Sherwood or Warnock. Friedel is the only one who comes close as a player who really did reach the world class level.
  18. It's very sad to see. Such a wonderfully talented footballer when he can be bothered. He should have just come off representing South Africa in a World Cup on home soil and instead he will probably end his career sitting in the reserves and picking up his cheque each week.
  19. I really enjoyed it, thought it was very funny, but I can certainly understand why it wouldn't be to everyone's taste.
  20. Best thing I can say about True Grit is that it felt like you were watching a classic western. It isn't the greatest movie ever, but it was very good for that genre. Very enjoyable.
  21. Good day for our internationals. MGP's goal was very nice and Kalinic scored with a well placed header for Croatia.
  22. Or it could just be that our taste in movies differs. It was a nice concept, but it just didn't manage to seal the deal for me. I can imagine someone pitching the idea and it sounding fantastic, but then not having the talent to actually produce something amazing. Long parts of the movie seemed to be a bit lost and it ended up being rather trite in my opinion, which was a shame.
  23. Saw that for the first time last night and wow.... what rubbish.
  24. Although Duff's career went downhill as a result of injuries, I am pretty sure that he will have enjoyed winning several trophies.
