  1. IMO, all rather convenient given Sylvester must be 60+. In any normal organisation, if a senior manager made a hash of a significant business transaction he would almost certainly be dismissed quickly. Seemingly, Sylvester's department fouled-up twice last Jan. window and also this Jan. window. IMO, Sylvester should have been fired in February last year. One wonders what really happened over the last two Jan transfer windows!?!? Sylvester, IMO, made to look the scapegoat and perhaps toddles off into the sunset with a nice retirement package. I have been around business for a very long time and, IMO, none of this 'smells right'.
  2. Saw Moyes in a Lytham restaurant last year and from what I could gather he 'lives locally on the coast'. Used to live in a huge countryside residence located between Haighton Green and Grimsargh. Wouldn't want him at Rovers as I think he's too negative (criticisms levelled at him where he's managed previously) and there are, IMO, 'hungrier' managers out there.
  3. The lad's certainly attracting the attention of many including MOD and Sky pundits. To me, he's a class above Mainoo. Wharton seemingly strolls through games and always seem to have so much time - hallmarks of really special players. I was wowed by Duff when he broke through at Rovers but, to me, and I know they play different positions, I think Wharton is going to be an even bigger and better player.
  4. I think a bad injury did for Hughes otherwise he would have been some player.
  5. Watched Palace v United. No surprises for me. Adam strolled it. Wee Dougie is one smart cookie. Dougie v Broughton / Waggott - little wonder Palace had our pants down. Wharton is a future England captain and will be world class within 3 years. Posted several times since he broke on the scene that he was special and one day would run England's midfield. Broughton / Waggott, hang your heads in shame and feck off - you gave him away.
  6. If we even spend £2million on transfer fees then I will be amazed. Feel sure the Raos will see the monies from the Wharton sale, the Raya clause and the almost certain sale of Sammie as an opportunity to claw back some of their £200million and to save on further funding. I also think it's pretty certain the Indian court case will sabotage the dreams of some of our lofty dreamers on this MB. Despite the noise from Waggott and Broughton, which I think is bullsh1t, I think this pending court case is going to be a high hurdle to clear and will hit hard any player trading plans Broughton thinks he might have. As for Sammie's fee - the lad will be going on 29 when the new season kicks off and has never played in the PL and I think £15million is as much as we can expect and it does sound as though some of that will end up with Posh. Like Armstrong, Sammie scores goals for fun in the Championship but as Armstrong found out, the PL is a totally different level. Like many on here think, until we have both new owners and a new CEO then Championship survival is I think the best we can hope for and my goodness, even that will be one helluva challenge next season.
  7. Suspect you wont be far wrong. Fadz - worth a 12 month contract Gally - huge wages for a waste of space, get him out the door Dolan - get shut, we can do better
  8. We should not be paying fees for players like O'Riordan and then loaning out. Players we pay fees for have to improve our first team.
  9. I'd take either of those two in a heart beat over Eustace. They both come across well, talk a lot of common sense and are very positive.
  10. Think Tony Mowbray will call it a day at Brum now. Given his recent health scare and Brum being 180 miles or so from his beloved Teeside, I don't think he will have the stomach to endure a League One campaign with Brum. IMO, Brum's owners got it sadly, for them, wrong, not necessarily sacking Eustace but appointing Rooney and then due to Mowbray's illness, allowing Venus to run with the ball for so long when it was clear he was floundering.
  11. Absolutely delighted we are safe, at least for another season. Thank you Sammie - you deserve far better than, IMO, our shambolic club. Good luck next season. The optimism in me says this close run debacle will serve as a platform/catalyst to better things, the realism tells me we are in a one way lift going downwards. Will enjoy some wonderful food and drink for the rest of the day in celebration.
  12. Even if Rovers lose, it would be some feat if Plymouth and Brum both won and Owls avoided defeat especially as these are teams currently below us in the league in 20th, 21st and 22nd positions. I can't see it happening. However, football does spring surprises and never more so in the desperation stakes of the last game of the season. I have harboured a nightmarish thought for some time that we would find ourselves in the bottom three for the first time on the last day of the season and get relegated, again, on goal difference. To make matters worse, my missus who has something of a sixth sense has got something special in for tomorrow night's dinner including a fine red and uncannily this seems to happen when she senses my spirits need a lift! As the great Dave Allen used to say when signing off "may your God go with you."
  13. Think it just underlines the lack of nous and commercial/business awareness at Ewood. If we had been trying to prise a manager away from another club then obviously a contract of some length would have been necessary, however, Eustace had been out of work for 4 months or so and did not seem to have suitors knocking down his door. I would have given him a contract to the end of season with a season end review based upon performance results wise and also the other boxes a competent manager/coach needs to tick. Does anyone seriously think Eustace would have turned that down? Notwithstanding all that, I wouldn't have appointed Eustace in the first place - IMO, he had little managerial 'pedigree' to replace JDT and any benefit of the doubt about his suitability would have quickly been negated by a face to face interview which would have quickly revealed his limitations.
  14. Would we have seen him if we had been losing!? I very much doubt it.
  15. Agree with all the stuff about Eustace - IMO, way out of his depth, unintelligent and just a cliche / platitude ridden bullsh1tter. Worse Rovers managers who readily come to my mind include Iley, Ince, Kean, Berg and Coyle and Eustace, IMO, is as bad as any of them, if not worse. No matter what league we are in next season, I think it will be a disaster if he remains in charge. Never mind all the crap about giving him opportunity to shape the squad, he's already shown his limitations and I think his record is absolute dire with Rovers and speaks for itself. When he became our manager we were in 17th place, 7 points above 22nd place, now we are 19th and just 3 points above 22nd place and in danger of falling through the trap door tomorrow. Eustace has 2 wins to his name and hasn't even averaged 1 point per game - it's totally indefensible.
  16. FFS, stop trying to grasp at straws - think everyone but you, INCLUDING ROVERS, recognises Eusless WAS NOT in charge for the Stoke game. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/09/eustace-appointed-rovers-head-coach/ Rovers’ first team coaches David Lowe and Damien Johnson will take charge of tomorrow’s home game against Stoke City, with new Head Coach John Eustace in close attendance. He has won 2 league games - simple as, full stop.
  17. I think Travis would be very disillusioned if he comes back. Useless to Rovers like that so think it would be a case of getting best price they can for him. A decent Championship player who knows his way around - there will be takers.
  18. Delighted for Ipswich. McKenna has done a fantastic job. Talks commonsense and is so calm and collected even in 'the heat of battle'. IMO, a stark, stark contrast to Eusless in every facet of football coaching and management. They are so positive and go for it until the very last second May well struggle next season but would rather be in their shoes than ours. Shows what good owners, good senior management and good football managers can achieve. Sadly for Travis, I don’t think there will be a place at Ipswich for him next season and very much doubt he'll want to stay at IMO, the chaotic and shambolic Rovers after seeing what a good Championship club is all about.
  19. I've asked @chaddyroverstwice if he was a billionaire and he bought Rovers would he keep Waggott, Broughton and Eustace in post. As he hasn't responded, which is quite unusual, I can only assume he would. Scary!
  20. @chaddyrovers you are never backward about coming forward with suggestions about new signings. I asked you a simple question and still awaiting your thoughts.
  21. If only we could be in top 6 following a home draw!!! Think I'd be opening a nice red.
  22. Question for @chaddyrovers. If you were a billionaire and bought the Rovers, would you keep Waggott, Broughton and Eustace in post?
  23. IMO, piss poor and clueless management on Wharton and BBD.
  24. IMO, there is no one at Rovers with a feckin clue about valuations or how to manage these situations. Wharton out the door for an absurdly relatively low price. Feck me, Bristol City got £25million for Alex Scott who will never ever be the player Wharton is now or will become. It was clear from a very early stage (remember the game at Blackpool) that Wharton was a very special talent. Folk running Rovers are the same who fecked up badly on Lenihan, Rothwell and BBD who went for the square root of feck all. It all makes my blood boil. Think it's certain Sammie will leave irrespective of any posturing from Rovers or fanciful Nixon numbers. If he wants out then he will go - he's now at his peak footballing wise and earnings' potential wise and I think it would be madness for him to stay here. Wake up Chaddy and smell the coffee because I think recent history has shown the summer window will be as shambolic, or even more shambolic, than recent windows. Reading your 'wish list' for signings is like reading my grandchildren's letters to Father Christmas. Get real.
  25. Think it's so galling when you look at the players we have recently lost for either nothing or for not their true worth. All gone for nowt BBD, Rothwell and Lenihan - close on £20million with 'clued-up' management. Palace really pulled our pants down over Wharton. Months and months ago, I posted we should get at least what Brum got from Dortmund for Bellingham (£25million plus add ons) and that was 4 years ago. Also, still far from convinced we managed Phillips' contractual situation optimally. As for Broughton's signings, think only Sammie has hit the mark. Disasters include Mola, Hirst (at least for us), Wahlstedt, Ennis, Telalovic and Fleck. Those who have made little or no impact Morton, Thomas, Moran, Ayari, Koumetio and O'Riordan (we have the 3rd worse defensive record in the league having conceded 74 goals and the lad can't even get a look in - wtf is that about?!) Average signings Hyam and Brittain (think both have shown their true colours this season and in my book not the characters you want to build your team around), Sigurdsson (flatters to deceive), Tronstad (a steady Eddie but better than Travis?) and McFadzean (the barrel was empty). Whether we have money to spend in the summer or not, I really worry about the capabilities of Broughton and our recruitment team - IMO, their record is pretty dismal.
