  1. Very true. Just why the feck did Mowbray sign him. Beyond comprehension.
  2. I would never have appointed Mowbray in the first place. Since his appointment, I have consistently flagged my concerns about his abilities. I cannot see a single strength in his management. Mowbray, Venus, Lowe and Benson all, IMO, need clearing out. IMO, we owe Mowbray nothing - we rescued him from football's scrap heap and no doubt he has been handsomely rewarded and probably set up financially for life. I think Huddersfield have made a great appointment in Danny Cowley and he has started to turn them around. Hungry, talented young managers are out there and we need to find one.
  3. A club's identity extends beyond its playing style. It's the heartbeat of a club. It's how fans connect to a club. What does it stand for, what is its purpose, what is its direction, what is its overarching football philosophy. I doubt if anyone could answer those questions in relation to Rovers. Formations are tactics. Football identity is clear. For example, is a team about pass and move, possession play, counter-press and counter attack, old-school long ball etc. After almost three years of Mowbray, I don't know what our football philosophy is. IMO, for three years it's mainly been old-school long ball. Sadly, as a club, I think we are culturally bereft from top to bottom with no identity, playing or otherwise, and we are drifting along in the seas of mediocrity.
  4. It is. A remark that stood out for me "Mark has gone in there and given them an identity". Well Mowbray's been here almost three years and I haven't a clue what our identity is!!! Think QPR are still a flaky, soft touch and with the players at our disposal, we should be going there and winning comfortably and I am very confident we will despite, IMO, our dinosaur of a manager. At 11/5 for a Rovers' win, it's time to fill your boots.
  5. Football is a funny old game. Surprisingly, you can get Forest at what I think is a generous 3/1 with Rovers only just better than evens on the exchanges. We are so unpredictable. My punt is on an unexpected Rovers' win tonight with a fiver on 3-2 at 30/1. Certainly think goals will be plentiful tonight.
  6. A football club needs a first rate CEO and a first rate manager. They will pay for themselves many times over. Sadly, IMO, Waggott and Mowbray are way off the mark. What a half decent manager would have done with the £15million+ I think Waggott and Mowbray have wasted on Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher.
  7. Think Mowbray has spunked £15million+ away on Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher. I would have sacked him after the Brereton debacle.
  8. Try Adu, Bendtner, Bentley, Christanval etc who all shone brightly for a while before fading into obscurity in their late twenties.
  9. Any signing that adds a touch of quality to our squad is welcome. The lad seems to have a bit of pedigree and potential but can the potential be realised or will he turn out to be another Armstrong, Brereton, Gallagher, Chapman etc. It's also time Mowbray showed a touch of ruthlessness and carried out a 'cull' - it's not as though there are insufficient candidates! Big questions are can Mowbray establish a stable formation, a pattern of play and settle on his best starting eleven without having umpteen square pegs hammered into round holes. Mowbray has been backed heavily in the transfer market. There can be no excuses from him
  10. Rovers' win by two goal margin. What's the doubt? We are playing a team in 17th place, 3 points behind us and who've lost their last two games. Keep saying it but reading posts on here would make you think we are playing Barca, City and Liverpool rolled into one! For fecks sake, if we can't go to Reading with confidence and come away with something then it's time a supermarket was built on Ewood.
  11. I think, in the main, our football under Mowbray has been awful. I read and hear, in my opinion, far too much contradictory stuff from both Mowbray and Waggott. Personally, I do not trust them. In my opinion, they do not 'bleed blue'. To me, it's similar to a restaurant, if you don't like, or trust, the owner(s) / management then you vote with your feet / wallet. As for promotion to the PL, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell of that happening under Mowbray / Waggott. If we do get promoted, I would only get back to buying season tickets if I thought we had a progressive management who, in my opinion, had the best interests of the the club at heart and the product on the field of play was good. IMO, @Tyrone Shoelaces is spot on, many, many 'diehards' have been sickened and I think there will need to be seismic changes in management and attitudes at Ewood to entice them back.
  12. If you no longer enjoying doing something, you stop doing it! I go to only to a fraction of games I previously attended. Too many times, I've sat there during a match thinking what the feck am I doing here and that includes when we are winning! I want to be entertained and watch attractive and in the main winning football. Under Mowbray's tenure, in the main, I've found our football to be awful and some on here had the temerity to attack Big Sam who changed us from relegation certainties to a comfortable top half Premier League team. I also think Mowbray and Waggott are both incapable of getting us back to the PL and also insincere. I take anything they say with a pinch of salt. In my opinion, Mowbray lost huge credibility after what he said in Blues back in February and what has since happened.
  13. We are not playing Liverpool, City, Barca or Real but feckin Millwall at our place and they are a mere 2 points in front us. Result shouldn't be in doubt and in my mind it's a banker home win with a 2 goal margin. If we can't see off Millwall having splashed almost £15million+ on Brereton, Gallagher and Armstrong then we have problems.
  14. If Mike had had Fergie's heart and mental toughness then you could have said £135million!!! Almost a latter day Ronaldo - very similar in terms of build, pace and attributes. Best penalty taker I've ever seen as well.
  15. One of my all time favourites. Tremendously skilled and on his day, a top class act. A player with an edge and an aggression - could, and frequently did, mix it with anyone. Just loved his directness and the way he attacked the defender(s) with the ball. Thanks for the memories Fergie and R.I.P.
  16. Over at least the last 15 years, I think Thwaites mismanged their core beer business so badly that is has now virtually disappeared - it is a crying shame .
  17. Know full well what succession planning is! Surely, the club knew two months ago whether Barr and Sheron were ready to step up. If they were confident the pair were ready to step up then it should have been done and dusted in days. I have never been involved in any organisation (excluding public sector organisations such as schools where vacancies have to also be advertised externally) where personnel has been earmarked as ready/capable for/of promotion only for the job to be advertised outside and then given to the internals some significant time down the line! IMO, it's just farcical.
  18. Two clean sheets and wins on the bounce should have provided an enormous shot of confidence. A stuttering start for Cardiff, Has age finally doused Warnock's drive, hunger and passion. Maybe, it only works for so long with the players and it gets too familar and boring. It's a home banker for me and I'm going to bang last night's win winnings on Rovers at 11/8. I'd go: Walton, Nyambe, Lenihan, Williams, Hart, Travis, Johnson, Downing, Dack, Rothwell, Graham: Nyambe for Bennett - IMO, Bennett will never be an effective right back. For my liking, time and time again, he is beaten too easily and if Mowbray perseveres with him then I think there will be more roastings to come for our hapless skipper It would be folly to break up Lenihan and Williams as the two centre backs and surely Hart is better defensively than Bell Rothwell for Armstrong - IMO, Armstrong offers virtually nothing other than his pace (don't think the lad has it and certainly hasn't a football brain) Graham for Gallagher - not impressed with Gallagher when he was here before and, IMO, will never be the player Graham has been and still is. An incredible Sky statistic that our £5million man hadn't netted in his previous 20 league games (now 21 games after Hull). I think Mowbray has wasted the best part of £14million on Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher and for that reason alone, should no longer be our manager. Is Brereton injured or is Mowbray's £7million+ man so ineffective that he can't even make the bench now!?
  19. Two clean sheets and league wins on the bounce is a start but Mowbray still has a long way to go to convince. Let's keep some perspective - we've defeated two very ordinary teams in M'boro and Hull. I also think Mowbray has spunked £14million up the wall on Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher - couldn't believe the stat that Gallagher has now gone some 21 league games without a goal!
  20. Very good performance and deserved win. Confidence and momentum all important in this league. IMO, Bennett still a big liability, Gallagher a big waste of money and Armstrong showed again, no football brain and very limited skill. Big plusses tonight, Williams and Downing whilst Cunningham a big upgrade on Bell. Now for a glass or two or three to celebrate.
  21. Should be winning this game - chances missed. Doubt Hull will be as ineffective in 2nd half. A couple of ours already blowing hard. £5million for Gallagher - what really is the point!?
  22. Don't start nicking my forecasts!
  23. Feckin hell - two months to decide that! Good and well managed organisations have something known as 'succession planning' - it isn't rocket science. Seems like we've gone for the cheapest options with little or no creative thinking shown. An input of new blood and 'fresh eyes' works wonders in most organisations.
  24. Agree. Start with the strongest eleven irrespective of 2 games in 4 days. Goodness me, these are professional athletes. Compare to a top tennis player (eg Federer 38 years old, Nadal 33 years old) who might spend a minimum of 18 hours on court over a fortnight (equivalent to 12 games of football!!!). Can't see anything to fear here. Get on the front foot and be feckin positive. 3-1 to Rovers.
  25. Came across Sodexho and Compass a good number of years ago in a work capacity and I wasn't overly impressed with their approach. Have also experienced their event catering etc on numerous occasions and although I recognise event catering at big events isn't easy, generally unimpressed with both their product and service. At the end of the day, the buck stops with Waggott on this one as presumably he signed off on the deal with Sodexho and a key part of the deal should be to provide a quality product and service at a reasonable price for the supporters. Supporters can and should vote with their wallets and support the many local businesses in the area that can provide good quality and value in their pre match refreshments whether it be a bag of chips, a pie, a sandwich, a lunch, a pint or even a nice glass of red!
