Think more bullsh1t from a deluded and not up to scratch manager. His words are of no surprise to me. What a depressing start to the weekend.
-
McNamee was a leader and a no nonsense commanding presence. Everything we sadly lack at the moment. Sadly, John is now affected by Alzheimer's and you do wonder if it's a similar 'industrial illness' to what Jeff Astle suffered. Last I heard from someone who knew the family was that he was living in Cumbria.

Predictable stuff. In fact, I think it's Mowbray's usual bullsh1t. Depressing stuff this thread.
-
Downing signed. Bauer wanted but rejected us. Other speculations: Fielding, Hanley, O'Neill, Gallagher........... Feeling distinctly underwhelmed. Oh for a manager with a knowledge of the market and an ability to work it. Think Mowbray is one of the biggest bullsh1tting managers we've had in recent times. Told fans at Blues back in Feb what they wanted to hear and I think he's a million miles away from delivering that - IMO, a big, big let down.
-
Then why has Mowbray monitored and chased for nigh on two years!?! Our defence is appalling and it says everything about Mowbray when he is looking to sign squad players. I think the lad has made the right decision going to Preston. Neil will take him to another level and I think we will long rue Mowbray's inability to work the market. After Mowbray's comments at Blues about signing players who will come in and make a difference, it only confirms suspicions. I think Mowbray is full of bullsh1t and we are going nowhere with this man.

This has been discussed countless times on here with links to various articles on fee with some stating £7million+ add ons. My understanding is a very substantial non target fee with add ons - supposedly Forest couldn't believe their luck. That is the view of a colleague/friend who's a Forest fan and uses the hospitality facilities at City Ground. Mowbray knew he had to 'clear' this one up at Blues in Feb.. My recollection of what he said: signed Brereton on basis of his performance against Rovers at their place where we lost 2-1, we'd paid £6/7 million (no attempt to say part of this was with targets) and he thought he'd be a £15 to £20 million footballer in time to come. Anyone on this MB who was also at Blues will be able to confirm.

Well it does as it means the club miss out on a number of season tickets for personal and business use. That is replicated hundreds if not thousands of times over. IMO, V's ownership and the, in the main, direct football served up by Mowbray has cost our club dearly.
-
FFS, Mowbray committed the club to £7million+ on, IMO , a dud. That's approaching 70% of the club's annual turnover. If you don't think that's one big bullock dropped then go and squander 70% of your annual take home pay on birds, booze or whatever and see what your missus has to say!
-
and there are also 50+ older / experienced managers who have done or do jack shit. Think Mowbray at best is a 'has been', if he ever was anything! It's a pathetic and defeatist argument to say there is no one better out there. Loads of managers would snatch your arm off in the Championship if they were given £6million to find a 'quality' centre back and striker. Sadly, for Rovers, I think Mowbray spunked £10million away in last summer's window. The failure of the Brereton signing alone, IMO, merits his sacking.
-
A miracle !?!? By his own admission at Blues, he was brought in to keep us up. He failed - full stop. As far rebuilding!!! Think we are 6 quality players short of challenging for promotion. IMO, Mowbray is now washed-up and no better than a League One manager.
-
Gallagher is another I'd forget. Think it would be a few more £million down the drain. Think he's overrated and has not developed as he should. This 'young' lad of almost 24 years of age has, IMO, stalled badly as just 100 appearances testify. Don't think Mowbray and our recruitment team show any imagination. Just where the feck do they scout!?!?
-
Difficult to watch him when Mowbray rarely gave the lad a chance!

As far as I can recall, Mowbray told us back in Feb in Blues Bar that he knew a good number of our players weren't up to it at Championship level and they would fall off the train/wagon and be replaced by players who would make a real difference. Fast forward to June: “Some of those might be free transfers, some might be loans, and some players that we might look to buy, polish them up, and then sell on. “We might also have players in the building who can make an impact for us next season.” The writing, IMO, is indelibly written on the wall. IMO, the Downing signing is underwhelming. For Mowbray to harp on about his versatility and also laud Bennett in the same breath tells us everything we need to know about our manager. Some are saying he will help the 'youngsters' such as Chapman and Armstrong learn and aid their development; forgive me, but what the feck do Mowbray, Venus and Lowe do - is it not primarily their job to coach and develop players? We understand Rovers have been chasing Bauer for some time yet the 'mighty' Preston see us off!!! Perhaps Bauer was also far more impressed in the talents of Alex Neil than, IMO, the bumbling and bullsh1tt1ng Mowbray. I fear it will be a disappointing window and IMO, the £7m+ spunked away on Brereton last summer will come back to bite us on the bum. IMO, it will be another season, at best, of treading water whilst Mowbray adds to his financial security. We need a young, hungry, dynamic and tactically aware manager who knows the market and can work it.

Sure Boris will do a terrific job. Just what the country needs.
-
Me thinks he'll be the washed-up John Aston who replaced the mercurial Waggy.
-
It's all a far cry from what Mowbray had to say to the fans in 'Blues' back in Feb. Looking like the window will see fans' aspirations dropping like a stone.
-
It's nice well paid work if you can get it! I think Mowbray's mentality is if he can keep 'the ship steady' for another two or three years then he will have a nice healthy pension fund. To me, the guy is under no pressure from our owners and we are going nowhere with Mowbray. IMO, should have been sacked last season. If nothing changes, if we are lucky, we will be in the same place in 12 months' time with similar comments on this MB.
-
A staggering statement from you! Just checked the date and it's not April 1st. Come on, suspicions seem soon to be realised. Mowbray's LT article says it all. Think our budget for player trading is almost zilch.
-
Very much doubt Bauer is within our wages' structure / budget. The lad is on a free and his agent will want to max out on the deal. Think Downing and Morrison are uninspiring targets. IMO, boring and predictable Mowbray links.
-
Good shout. Moran and Short played as centre backs for Rovers until they were both 37/38 and they were pretty good! IMO, would be a terrific signing and offer far more to the team than Downing.
-
Pay the wages the likes of Downing will want and there'll be precious little left for fees! IMO, this would be another Danny Murphy and Etuhu scenario. Think it's a horrible proposal and a retrograde step. IMO, Mowbray can't work the market and his lack of imagination and nous shows.
-
Get your goalie and defence right and you have half a chance. Forest won two European Cup Finals by 1-0 with Peter Shilton in goal. Remember the old '1-0 to the Arsenal' song!?!? We conceded goals for fun last season and needing to score two and sometimes three goals to even draw a game is ridiculous. Do we not have the players or is it just the manager who can't organise a defence? Personally, I think it's a combination of both. Last season, right from the off, it was clear we needed better players defensively. Mowbray's response, squander (IMO) £7million+ on Brereton who contributed virtually nothing to the season. We are in the same boat now and it seems we are in for, IMO, an expensive and 'finished' Downing - not a priority. It's laughable. Last season, Mowbray thought we were okay defensively and then after a number of defeats, IMO, blames his defensive players and states we need new players - has he no organisational skills to get the best out of what we had? Constantly playing Bennett at right back offers Mowbray no defence from criticism. Let's see what he does - not holding my breath though.
-
Think Downing is finished. More Mowbray nonsense. You build from the back. Alisson showed just how important a good goalie is in Liverpool's CL triumph. Will Mowbray ever learn!?!? I very much doubt we have a pot to p1ss in. Think signing Downing would be a waste of pressure resource which could be much better used elsewhere.
-
Mowbray has set the scene with his words in the LT - 'cleverer and cuter'. My interpretation of that is he hasn't a pot to p1ss in. If we got say £10million for Dack, which is very unlikely to me, then I'd be surprised if Mowbray would even get half of that to reinvest. Lost count of the number of share issues our owners have made just to keep us afloat and I very much doubt it will continue. Mowbray threw £10million+ at it last summer and I think the Brereton signing might prove to be the straw that's broke the camel's back. My forecast on net player trading: at best, zero (a few small ins and outs), at worst, surplus of several £million with departing assets such as Lenihan and Dack.

A mistake waiting to happen in every match. Cost Derby in play off final two or three seasons ago. Seen him 'live' on numerous occasions. To me, has a strange body language and I think he's a sandwich short of a picnic.
