Think his pension fund will be growing nicely though! Nice work if you can get it.

You get my drift!!!

Feckin ridiculous. I remember the famous Boxing Day fixture where we did Burnley 3-2 at The Turf and a certain Keith Fear notched on his debut for us - if I recall correctly, none of the fans there realised we'd even signed him!!! Suspect he might have met his new colleagues in the dressing room pre match!!!
-
Totally ridiculous. You simply don't go 'window shopping' at Harrods with a Home Bargains' budget.
-
So, that's Williams and Davenport crocked whilst according to the LT, Chapman's 'fitness is being monitored having featured in just one behind closed doors game so far'. Davenport and Chapman all reminiscent of Vince Grella whilst when did Gladwin last kick a ball for us? We need robust individuals who we can rely upon being fit for 90% of games. We should not be signing accidents waiting to happen!

I am not going to try and defend Coyle's Rovers' tenure as manager. For Coyle, I think his managerial career nosedived after his first eighteen months at Bolton. The point I was trying to make, however, was that eight of last season's 'mainstays' were here under Coyle and he signed three of them for Rovers on permanent deals (Mulgrew, Graham and Williams). Who knows where we would have been without Graham and to a lesser extent Mulgrew - even Williams has had his moments with us (player of the season in 2016/17 and a strong end to last season at centre back). Add to those three the loan signing of Sam Gallagher (questionable Mowbray would have even heard of the lad if he hadn't have been here on loan firstly under Coyle) who Mowbray has seemingly just blown our transfer budget on and sold Raya to help finance. So you could argue that Mowbray has been largely reliant upon a good part of Coyle's team and signings. As for Mowbray, apart from Dack and possibly Rothwell, it is difficult to argue that his player trading is anything better than average at best.
-
Look, Coyle didn't deliver at Rovers but by and large, much of last season's team and promising Academy youngsters were all here when Mowbray arrived. Mowbray has given us Dack with Rothwell also showing much promise. Other than that, his player trading, IMO, is p1ss poor - £7+million spunked away on Brereton, Raya sold only to see Walton and possibly Eastwood to come in to replace, add an array of over 30's in Downing, Johnson and possibly Adam and it's stuff that doesn't get my pulse racing.
-
Last season, there were eight players from the Coyle era who started at least 23 league games (half a season) or more: Raya, Nyambe, Mulgrew, Lenihan, Williams, Bennett, Evans and Graham (Mulgrew, Williams & Graham being Coyle permanant signings). Add to that list Gallagher who Coyle brought in on loan and who now Mowbray has just splashed £5million. I would also point out that the plethora of Aacademy talent eg Travis, Butterwoth, Buckley, Magloire etc etc was all here when Mowbray arrived and has been developed by Johnno. Perhaps Coyle wasn't quite the 'donut' you think.
-
Nail on head IMO> Also, can you see the likes of Hart, Carson and Ruddy wanting to come to Rovers with the kid Benson as goalkeeper coach! Think it's laughable.
-
Mowbray's brief was to keep us that season. He told us that at Blues back in Feb. He failed - full stop.
-
No, it's spot on. Facts don't lie. By the way, would suggest you don't use words you are unable to even spell correctly.
-
Coyle brought in Mulgrew and Graham. Without those two players, I think Mowbray would have been well and truly stuffed. The only signing Mowbray has made which comes close to the success of Mulgrew and Graham is Dack.
-
I think he dropped a huge b0ll0ck with Brereton at £7+million with commensurate wages. We are scraping around in the dregs of the market, IMO. Yet Mowbray is still here. IMO, he doesn't know the market and he can't work the market. I think it's plain to see.
-
In 2015/16 - the season before Mowbray arrived, we finished 15th in the Championship. In 2018/19, after two and a half seasons with Mowbray in charge, we finished 15th in the Championship. We are NOT progressing! When will the penny drop? If Mowbray gets us any higher than 15th this coming season, I would be extremely surprised. We've lost a goalie with far more potential than wither Walton or Eastwood and signed Gallagher for £5million because I think Mowbray spunked £7+million away on Brereton. For me, an underwhelming window so far and that's being generous.

Corrected it for you!

Unsurprisingly, I think you will find there is very little interest in those we are deemed to be trying to unload - gallingly, includes some given improved and extended contracts within the last 15 months. I think there is now a budget 'gap'. The Raya sale helped with the Gallagher deal but I think if Mowbray wants to complete the deals he has in mind, there will have to be a 'major' sale. Think next week is going to be very interesting.
-
I think you guys do a bloody good job. I personally know from voluntary stuff I've been involved in that it can be a thankless task and you just hope you can add a little bit of value and make a little bit of difference.
-
Think it's extremely likely there will be a 'major' departure next week in order for the 'pipeline' stuff referred to by BBRovers2288 to come through.
-
Depressing, another day but same old story. Think Mowbray making it up as he stumbles along.
-
You mean Jack Hixon. Sadly, Jack died about 10 years ago. Also, credited for taking Shearer to Southampton. Think he worked for NUFC in his latter years but too late for them. Got friends who knew him and spoke very highly of him as a person.
-
Think Bruce is a poor man's Big Sam. When Sam leaves a club, sadly they mainly go one way (Bolton from Europe downwards and now in administration), Newcastle relegated (Ashley should have showed balls and stuck with Sam), Rovers..........from top 10 PL to almost oblivion, need we say any more, Sunderland....well. Good and effective managers are hard to find and worth their weight in gold.
-
To some on here, including yourself, think clearly Brereton is the elephant in the room. If you repeatedly went to see the doctor with a cough and he repeatedly told you to stop smoking, what would you do, turn round to him and say you've told me that 25 times already!
-
Depressing read this morning. IMO, it's simple - we have a manager who doesn't know the market and hasn't a clue how to work it. As others have posted, Mowbray has made a rod for his own back. IMO, spunked away £7million+ and wages on Brereton, handed out new contracts to deadwood we are now trying to shift and seemingly is now frustrated as 'agents and players and agents are too greedy' (a bit rich as I think he's helped fuel it with his own actions). He has a budget - at least we are told that so for feck sake, get on and manage it. Start with priorities (GOALKEEPER(s) & DEFENDERS) and forget both the Gallagher nonsense (IMO a 3 out of 10 striker to replace a 1 out of 10 striker who has seemingly financially hamstrung us) and a desire to collect ageing and not inexpensive midfielders. I think the chickens are coming are to roost and Mowbray's ineffectual management and trading of playing resources is costing us badly.
-
For now.............

Think we need to forget Gallagher. IMO, would be silly money (fee and wages) for a lad who clubs don't seem to be in a rush tof sign. Tells its own story.
