  1. Like the look of Rothwell. To me, the lad has an obvious spark. He and Brereton MUST start at PNE but with this manager there's no chance of that happening.
  2. All reminiscent of the season we went down. IMV, too negative - his changes rarely effect games positively for Rovers.
  3. Nope. You get feelings about games. If I have a hunch, I run with it.
  4. He spent £7million doing that - time he played the feckin lad from the start.
  5. Shambolic result. All bets on Rovers are down but not bothered. Serious question marks against Mowbray. Our £7million striker sat rooted to the bench until last 15 minutes or so. IMV, a steady Eddie but not a manager to take us to the promised land. Glad I'm going out tonight!
  6. Not in doubt. Go grab a beer / wine, relax and enjoy.
  7. I'll stick with 2-1. Cometh the hour, cometh the man - come on Big Ben!
  8. Come on Mowbray - get the £7million striker on - we need a feckin goal!
  9. Just got in - surprised to see match isn't out of sight. Still confident - stuck a bit more on Rovers' win - now at 7/5 also stuck a fiver on 2-1 at 25/1. Sons who are at match said we are cr@p but I'm still confident we'll pull it out the hat.
  10. Think he must also have advised Rovers on the Brereton fee!
  11. Enough for the winnings to buy a few nice reds ! Stuck a fiver on 4-1 at 33/1.
  12. A huge home banker this. Expect Rotherham to be mullered. Rovers even at 8/11 is a licence to print money. 'Fun' bet on this is Rovers to win 4-1 at 33/1. Hope Brereton plays centre forward and notches a hat-trick.
  13. I am talking about being at the ground watching the match. It is only there where you can see a player's full contribution including movement (running the channels, dragging defenders out of position, tracking back), positions taken-up and general reading of the game etc etc - you don't see such aspects watching on a screen.
  14. Over a third of the season gone, a £7million deal and no league starts. Says it all. Madness. Dack cost £750,000 not £7,000,000 - bit of a difference!
  15. 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' ! What did Kenny see in Matt Dickens, what did Brian Kidd see in Ashley Ward, what did Roy see in Christian Dailly, what did Souey see in Grabbi? Dickens was signed for a song but the other three cost big money and didn't cut it for Rovers. Let's face it, all managers sign their fair share of duds including the likes of Fergie, Mourinho, Pep etc. If Mowbray and his cohorts did identify Brereton and were solely responsible for his signing then their judgement may very soon come into question.
  16. What success criteria have you and Parsons used to arrive at that conclusion and how S.M.A.R.T. are the objectives?
  17. What rubbish Unsall! Amused to see you seem to think I have a gang as well! It's simple - I'm Rovers through and through but, unlike others, do not swallow some of the guff, which IMV, emanates from Ewood at times. Everyone on this MB has a right to express their opinion and opinions will differ - fully accept that. As you raised it, my views on Brereton, Mowbray and Waggott. So to Brereton: If the lad is such a prospect why didn't a PL club take a chance, after all, a £7m deal would be 'chicken shit' to them. As far as I'm aware, we were the only Championship club in for him - at least at that price - so what does that tell you? Some on here have speculated it wasn't a Mowbray signing but a decision made by the owners. If that's the case, neither Mowbray or Waggott are running the club as they should be allowed to. If Brereton is a Mowbray signing, we are over a third of the way through the season and the lad signed in one of the biggest Rovers' deals for years has yet to start a league game! Presumably, Mowbray doesn't think he's good enough in which case, why sign him when clearly there are other areas of the team that need strengthening. Not to mention Mowbray commented last week we are a striker short! It is really any wonder there is some bemusement with this signing? Mowbray: I accept the playing side is now in better shape than when Coyley left us. Seems to be a strong spirit and sense of camaraderie. Mowbray should have kept us up. IMV, his negative tactics cost us precious points - winning positions ended up as draws, games we were drawing ended up as losses Brought us back at first attempt. Job well done - though he did almost certainly have Division One's biggest budget Signing are mixed. Big success is obviously Dack. IMV, too many Harts, Gladwins and Joe Averages Think tactically tries to be too clever. IMV, too negative and suffers from square peg in round hole syndrome. IMV, a likeable chap who clearly loves the game but a 'steady Eddie' who I do not think has the spark or nous to take us back to the PL Waggott: Been with us less than a year but, IMV, yet to make his mark Some contentious decisions - closing Darwen End to away supporters only, hiking ST prices and then saying in LT disappointed in attendances this season. Can anyone tell me what Rovers' ticket pricing strategy is?
  18. It really is pointless trying to debate with you. A shame you seem incapable of forming any opinions of your own. Firstly, as I have said twice in previous posts, I was working. Do you have difficulty in understanding? Secondly, you just don't understand the Duff 'thing'. Even as a raw 17 year old in either his first or second reserve game for Rovers, you could see within 10 minutes, after his first few touches, that Duff had something about him. In a blue and white shirt, on several occasions I have seen him 'live', I have seen nothing from Brereton to suggest he is anything other than 'Joe Average'. I didn't see Brereton against Arsenal, however, I once did see John O'Mara net a brace for Brentford before Rovers signed him and he turned out to be, IMV, one of the biggest donkeys I've seen in a Rovers' shirt. So Brereton was part of England U19's - how many games did he start and how many goals did he score? Jason Lowe skippered either England U21s or U23s - enough said. As far Mowbray's comments, what do you really expect him to say when he has committed Rovers to a £7m transfer deal plus £millions more in wages? If Mowbray said the moon was made of green cheese I think you would be 'googling' to see if you could order some online!
  19. Wasn't there yesterday as working. That ok? Comparing to Duff!? You just don't get it do you! I am not comparing him with Duff, Mbappe, Sessegnon, Alex-Arnold, Ampadu at all. The first point, relative to Duff and indeed any footballer with any kind of talent, is that they almost certainly show something during the course of a game, even if they are having a poor game, to suggest they have something in their locker. When I saw Duff, and I think it was either his first or second reserve game for Rovers, he was a raw 17 year old who we had just signed from a club in Ireland for, I think, a friendly game the following season. There was therefore no great expectation but as I posted earlier, his very first few touches were enough for me to sit up and take notice and think there just might be a real talent there. Contrast that with Brereton who has arrived in a £7million deal to great hopes and, not unreasonably, great expectation, and I have yet to see him do anything in a Rovers' shirt to suggest he is any better than a free transfer signing! The second point, and the reference to the 'big names' mentioned, is that it doesn't matter how young you are. If you have talent and are good enough then you are old enough. I am sure there are 'lesser' names throughout the FL aged 19 or under and all making an impact at first team level. Brereton is 19 and not deemed good enough to command a first team place in Rovers' team either as a 'wide striker' or as a 'central striker'. IMV, it is simply absurd that Mowbray has sanctioned the signing of a 19 year for a huge deal (in current circumstances) for Rovers and he doesn't deem him good enough to start. For that scale of money, the lad should be a 'game changer' who takes our team to a different performance level.
  20. They are but the point I'm making is any player with talent shows something, Brereton has shown me nothing. IMV, he just looks like a lad we've picked up on a free transfer hoping he'll develop into something useful - like when we signed Andy Needham on a free from Brum (not many will remember that one!).
  21. A player can be having a poor game but over the course of a match, if there's anything about him, he will usually do something that makes you think 'this lad might have a bit of something'. None of us have seen Brereton as often as we would like in a blue and white shirt given the £7million deal but when I have seen him, I've felt underwhelmed and sat there scratching my head as I've seen nothing that suggests to me that we might have a 'proper player' on our hands. I contrast that with Damien Duff who I first saw as a 17 year old in Rovers' reserves - his first few touches got me thinking we just might have a real talent here. Duff debuted as an 18 year old in the Premier League and was man of the match - fans left the ground purring. This was 20+ years ago, maybe you weren't even around then, but the point I'm trying to make is that if a lad has real talent it makes you sit up and take notice just as Duff did as a 17 year old in that reserve match. Sadly, Brereton draws a blank with me.
  22. You really do talk nonsense. Supported Rovers for 55+ years home and away including Europe and in the process probably spent a fortune when factoring in family tickets etc. Also. played at a decent level myself until I busted my knee (as opposed to those who have never kicked a ball in anger in their life). So don't try and tell me I don't care about Rovers or I don't know what I am talking about. I hope Brereton proves a roaring success. as I do with all Rovers' signings, however, based on what I've seen of the lad, I think we've signed a dud in a £7million deal - it's as simple as that.
  23. So Brereton is the new Messi then based on some of the stuff on here!? Philipl talks about Brereton being the best fit for our strategic needs at £7m!? Wasn't at the match today as working but feels like a sense of perspective needed here. Seen Brereton's run in the box for the penalty, and we were lucky to get it, and will see the same thing countless times tomorrow on the local pitches from young lads playing for fun and paid nowt!. Read comments he looked 'bright' but it wouldn't have been difficult in what even Mowbray said was a 'horrible, ugly' game. Hope I'm proved wrong but I don't think the lad is a £7million player and never will be. Would have been worth a go on a 'free'.
