January transfer window 2020
Mercer replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Told you this on Friday. IMO, we are brassic and there will be more income (transfer fees received and wages saved) than expenditure (transfer fees paid and wages spent). I think we are close to a 'tipping point' and there will be at least one 'big' departure this window. The summer sale of Raya shocked many and i think there will be other disappointments over the next month. -

January transfer window 2020

Venky's have owned the club for over 9 years now. Surely, there will come a point when they decide enough is enough. I have lost track of Rovers' finances now but their financial 'benevolence' can't be too far short of £200million now. IMO, it's madness. With Mowbray's track record in the transfer market, would you trust him with another 'big cash buy' ala Brereton, Gallagher !?!? IMO, all the signs are pointing to a rerun of last season where we threatened the top six and then nosedived down the table before levelling out in the last few matches. -

I wonder what our owners in Pune are thinking: We've just lost our talisman and probably any outside chance of promotion we had this season Dack's financial value to Rovers might be dissipated when he returns in 12+ months' time. IMO, we've seen some £12million+ in fees (not to mention £millions more in wages) spunked away on two non scoring, infrequently played strikers We have ageing and loan players in key positions and I think summer 2020 player trading is going to be a nightmare The club is kept afloat by recurrent £multi million share issues through VLL I think our remaining most valuable assets are at grave risk of being sold off in January. Somehow, I don't think it's going to be a great New Year for Rovers' fans. We could be close to a 'tipping point'. -
Really hope you're right but Mowbray's time scale is probably based upon the advices of the surgeon. There may well be other knee damage that needs repairing. There are also different grafts that can be used and each comes with its own advantages and disadvantages. Not only is the reconstructed knee problematic but there can be ancillary issues with groin, hamstring and ankle in the recovery process, particularly in professional athletes. Even with all the rehab Dack will get, and no two cases are the same, it's a long road to recovery for the lad and I think it will be a big bonus for us if Dack is back in contention before next Christmas.

J*B has shared some very interesting stuff with us about a possible move for Dack to WBA. It beggars belief that some are giving him the third degree over it! IMO, far more insightful than anything Sharpe puts in the LT. We should be grateful.

I agree. I don't think Dack has pace and, as with Rhodes, IMO, would have stopped him being an effective performer in the PL. My worry is that another yard off his pace will make him far less effective even at Championship level. When Shearer came back from his ACL, I think he'd lost a yard of pace. Prior to the ACL, he was quick, very quick - I always remember that goal against Arsenal at Ewood in our first season back when he left Arsenal players trailing in his wake. So when Shearer came back from his ACL he still had something left in his locker and he was no slouch but, IMO, that searing pace wasn't quite there.
-
Don't know where you got your information from but it was sadly wrong as I suggested when you posted. If it came from within the Rovers' medical department then, IMO, it's a real concern as I understand there is a big difference, and noticeable, between a torn MCL and a torn ACL. This is a huge blow for both Dack and Rovers. There are not many players who suffer this type of injury and don't suffer a drop in about a yard of pace - Shearer being a classic example. Wish Dack all the best. It's going to be a long and difficult road back.
-
Unbelievable negativity from some. We are at home and playing a team, in poor form, 7 places below us and with 7 points less. Why would anyone not be confident about today!? @Chaddyrovers - what my thoughts or predictions are can have no bearing at all on the Rovers' result. Never heard such nonsense!

Merry Christmas everyone...& thank you...

Happy Christmas everyone and best wishes for the New Year as the next decade dawns! -
Would be staggered if Dack was seen by an orthopedic surgeon (with a knee specialism) before midnight last night (when Kamy posted). Even with serious knee injuries, it is still possible to weight bear. No orthopedic surgeon worth his salt would proffer a diagnosis without a scan with this type of injury. i would be amazed if Dack plays again this season and he could even be out for the entire calendar year (2020). Dack was in severe pain which, sadly, suggests a real bad one.
-
IMO, an incorrect suspected diagnosis. You are not in the same pain as Dack was even with a torn MCL and it is even possible to walk upon it providing the knee doesn't give way. Talking from personal experience!

Wigan Athletic (H) - Monday Night Football (urgh..)
Mercer replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Can't believe that performance after our recent run. Firstly, difficult to understand the number of unenforced changes Mowbray made. When you are winning and have momentum and confidence, you should stick, wherever possible, with your winning formulae. Strangely, Wigan looked hungrier and and also quicker about the park. I think both manager and players bottled it. Glorious opportunity to close the gap at the top missed. Dack's injury doesn't look good. In most instances with a serious knee injury (cruciate ligament etc), and speaking from personal experience, you get instant pain and Dack was clearly suffering. Obviously, Dack will be a miss for such a long stretch but we did go to Bristol and turn in a real performance without him! The Brum match will tell us a lot more about our manager and players. -

Absolutely no worries about this one. We are playing bottom of the league Wigan with just two points from their last six matches and a -15 gd. Does anyone seriously doubt the outcome of tonight's match? Home banker - only question is by what goal margin. Banged on Rovers at 4/5 and thrown in some Christmas spice with a fiver on 5-1 at 90/1. Feet up, nice bottle of red, bring it on. -
Swansea City (A) - F*ck it, let's make it five!

IMO, poor stuff from both sides and poor management from Mowbray. Dack lucky still to be on the pitch at half time and Mowbray should have read the script. We looked very leggy despite an extra day's rest over Swansea. I think our core fitness is poor. Very much a missed opportunity as Swansea were there for the taking especially after their mauling at WBA. -

Gone for Rovers' win tonight (12/5) by 3 goals to 1 (30/1). We are on a roll, confidence and momentum are everything in this league. Is this the start of something big or a false dawn - down to Venky's and Mowbray (who I think bottled it last season when we were in a similar position / run of form). -
Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, promiscuity and obesity etc could all be construed to be the same, if not worse! At the end of the day, we don't live in a 'nanny state' and we all have to take responsibility for our actions and decisions. Yes, some may need assistance to help them through any one of a number of addictions but I would think 95%+ show the necessary self discipline to behave moderately and responsibly. You simply can't 'castigate' the many for the excesses and irresponsibilities of the few!

Check your facts !!! If you care to look over my posts over a period of time you will note two things. Firstly, I've always maintained my Rovers' betting is the 'fun' side and any winnings are a bonus and secondly, I have referred to my 'Sports Trading' on numerous occasions, stating that is where the money is made. It's also incredulous you are lambasting someone for something you admit you wouldn't know about. If you are going to have a pop at folk then at least get your bloody facts right !!!!!
-
I suspect you have not even heard of Sports Trading let alone know anything about it. It's about buying and selling bets, a bit like trading on the Stock Exchange where you buy and sell shares. Generally, you aren't bothered about who or what wins or loses an event as you make your money on the price differentials (buying and selling a bet). There are different nuances and because this was a 'tip' from within the industry, I played it a certain way meaning that if the horse won, I won decent money (£75) and if it didn't win, I would have lost nothing - can't be bad! As for not making much, anyone who placed a £10 bet each way on the horse at even the Starting Price of 7/2 (which had fallen substantially from the odds available yesterday!!!) would have won £43.75 and got their £20 stake back. Not to be sneezed at. I will not be posting "a tip every morning". This was a little bit different in that 'the tip' came from within the industry and if you get one of those, there's a high probability of success.
-
Can't lose on this one Jim. If Malystic wins, I win £75, if it doesn't win I lose £0!!! Under normal circumstances, I'd make circa£15 profit (irrespective of horse winning or losing) but as it's a tip, decided to underlay and go for the win (and just cover loss if horse loses) - the beauty of Sports Trading. Do a bit of research and make yourself even more money!
-
Then you haven't heard of 'Sports Trading' ! That's where the money is made. Said it many times, betting on Rovers is 'fun' betting for me - I view winnings as a 'bonus'. There are only two seasons where I have lost money on Rovers' betting - overall, on Rovers' betting, I am very comfortably ahead of the game!
-
Very good. Stick a tenner each way on Malystic (5/1) at Musselburgh 12.45 today.

This is an away banker. We now have confidence and momentum. Swansea have shot their bolt and will be very fragile after today's hammering and other recent results. Get us on the red button, put your feet up, open your beer / wine / gin (whatever your tipple may be) and lump on Rovers' win at a tad better than 5/2 (Christmas has come early!). Enjoy!
