Utter rubbish. Slow, laboured, off the pace, what more can you say. Charlton's savvy game management meant they saw out the game with ease. Defensively, they looked far better organised than we did and looked quicker all over the park. Mowbray must shoulder the blame. Wrong selections. Should have started with Nyambe, Rothwell and Graham to name but three. He said defenders were coming, well we need a premature ejaculation of them! Tone was set from kick off, 40 yards back to Lenihan and hoof! My views: Walton 6: saved a third at the end following another Bennett dropped b0ll0ck but there was little sign of cohesion with our goalie and back four Bennett 3: abysmal Mulgrew 4: finished Lenihan 6 steady Bell 5: one or two moments going forward but the lad can't defend Downing 5: flattered to deceive. Created little. Travis 5: quiet and disappointing. Not kicked on Johnson 7/8: head and shoulders above the rest. MASSIVE improvement on Evans and Smallwood Armstrong 4: a player without a brain Dack 6: not the impact we expected Gallagher 5: bang average just as I remembered him IMO, Mowbray has to go. We are going nowhere with him.

Nail on head. Been saying it for too long.
-
Defence nervous as kittens including goalie. Johnson the standout in midfield but blowing a bit already. Armstrong out of his depth. Gallagher very, very average. Has to bring Rothwell and Graham on NOW.
-
Same old shyte at the back.
-
Only Johnson looking effective.
-
Looking far from secure at the back.
-
You miss the point. We are playing a newly promoted team with injury problems and defensive problems as their friendlies demonstrated. Mowbray has spent close on £15million on strikers in 12 months. If we can't blow Charlton away then we really do have problems.
-
After seeing part of Luton / M'boro, to me, it's just a question of whether we put 4,5 or 6 past Charlton. No ifs, no buts, we should absolutely muller Charlton tomorrow - taking an abacus to make sure I don't lose track of the goals flying in!

Hope your break provides both time for contemplation and relaxation. I do hope you feel able to come back at some time in the future. Nil carborundum illegitimi !

Different leagues but I think Nuttall will score more goals for Blackpool this season than the combined efforts of Brereton and Gallagher for Rovers.
-
Nuttall not in betting yet. Norwood and Marquis are about 8/1. Out of the three, I'd normally go for Nuttall but think Ipswich and Pompey have better all round sides to help their strikers. I think Nuttall will get 15 to 20 goals for Blackpool this coming season. Out for dinner tonight with a Blackpool fan who uses the hospitality facilities there (asked me to Oxford match there later in month) and he reckons Sadler and Grayson are buzzing about the Nuttall signing.

Absolutely, in a top of the table classic. Remember the hordes from Plymouth arriving in their coaches at about 8.00 am. Also, remember Souey signing Yordi just before the Football League Cup Final in 2002 at Cardiff and putting him on the bench. If I remember correctly, Yordi came on with about 20 minutes to go and almost netted with a header! That's a feckin cup final - IMO, Mowbray doesn't half p1ss about.
-
Mentioned it before, if I remember correctly, Keith Fear only met his team mates in the dressing room at Burnley on that famous Boxing Day decades ago. Those of us on The Turf that day were amazed when the team was read out on the ground. Fear had a stormer as well! Think Mowbray doesn't half talk some tosh.

Feeling good today! Just savouring a Sauvignon Blanc from The Eisele Vineyard which was given as a 'thank you' present - reds don't always rule! Had three winners at Goodwood today, Dirty Rascal, Too Darn Hot and Timoshenko so the SVB is sliding down well! Sorry to disappoint you!

Myhill must be closer to 40 than 30. Underwhelmed, yet again.

Look, I've had enough of what I think is feckin claptrap from Mowbray. 'We need time to bed them in, they need to understand how we play, we need to improve their fitness levels, he's only a kid, he needs to learn how to play the position (not as good as Evans / Smallwood)'. Numerous examples of us signing players and not playing them (Brereton), playing them out of position (Armstrong, Reed etc) or they seemed to be made of glass (Chapman, Davenport, Gladwin). Mowbray has been here for two and a half years now and there is little evidence of success with his scouting network or his contacts. History shows that there are diamonds to be found in both non league and lower league football (home and abroad) - to name just a few who readily come to mind, Keegan, Gordon Hill, Kevin Phillips, Cahill, Charlie Austin, Bullard, Troy Deeney, Smalling, Les Ferdinand, Rickie Lambert, Vardy, Stones, Lucas Neil, Colin Hendry, Samba, Nelsen, Nzonzi and even Mark Atkins from Scunny!!! Sadly for Rovers, I think these days we end up mainly with the Gerard Ratner cr@p. IMO, until we have a manager who knows, and can work, the market, we are going nowhere.
-
and if Rovers could sign Messi would he be guaranteed game time? It's pretty simple. If we are looking to sign players who are no better than what we have then what the feck is the point? Back in Feb at Blues, I seem to recall Mowbray promising signings that would make a difference and take us to the next level.
-
As usual, you miss the point and spout some rot! I am talking about Mowbray's reference to physique, strength etc. IMO, it's feckin nonsense. Is there really much difference to physique of De Ligt ? Crouch is a beanpole. With Mowbray's argument, he hasn't the strength and would get bullied by those big bad centre halves (which we are crying out for but Mowbray can't find!!!). And if he feels like Wharton needs bulking up then why the feck do we have gyms and fitness coaches etc. Bulking up is pretty straightforward. Compare Shearer's physique pre cruciate and his other injuries to the latter part of his career. Presumably you think that was down to all the pies he ate and Newcastle Browns he downed!
-
Of course I'm not. The point I'm trying to make is that I think in Mowbray's eyes they are still 'kids' at 24+!!! Look at his comments on Reed. Goodness me he even referred to Charlie Adam as a 'kid' after the Barrow game. The bottom line, is if they are good enough then they are both old enough and big enough! Peter Crouch might be tall but he has a relatively poor physique - guess Mowbray would be saying words to the effect 'he's not strong enough, centre halves would bully him'. As I say, IMO, he doesn't half talk some real shyte.
-
IMO, our dinosaur of a manager doesn't half talk some shyte. Good job Ajax didn't loan out 19 year old Matt de Ligt to Lincoln, Northanmpton etc.
-
Why not? We are playing the mighty newly promoted Charlton who seem to have worse defensive problems them us. Surely, Graham and Tony's near £15million trio of Brereton, Armstrong and Gallagher will be capable of blasting them away.
-
IMO, bullsh1t, bullsh1t and more bullsh1t. Beggars belief. I don't think Mowbray has a plan or a clue what will happen next.
-
Let's hope Mowbray's comments prove nearer the mark than those in Blues back in Feb.. Talk is cheap.
-
Where did I say I have bet on relegation? All I did is state the range of odds and say 'only flutter for me would be 13/2 on relegation' You have a way of twisting words to meet your own ends. As far Charlton, Mowbray has spent close on £15million of fire power in 12 months (Brereton, Armstrong and Gallagher) to supplement Graham, so if we can't blow Charlton away, it's time he went.
-
Come on Philipl, if we really can't see off Charlton comfortably then we really are screwed!
