  1. Past hour
  2. It's way too late now VI starting to realize majority of the signings are duds, way way below Championship standard. Window gonna slam shut, we gonna get stucked with this lot of development players to steer us out of trouble. Watching Rovers gives me severe depression.
  3. They're going to have to cycle through a team every 2 years, yes.
  4. Well we've had Telovic, now Gueye so maybe 3rd time lucky.
  5. Can fully understand the new signings need time to gel, but even if we can finish this season staying up, in one or two seasons later, the new lads (assuming they are good enough) get used to this league, the same low-ball contracts offers will appear again. We will lose these "contract rebels" and replace them with cheaper new ones. The same shit will repeats itself, and the team will forever be in transition. This low wage budget, low cost foreign signings at all cost is no way to run a proper Championship club. The last time Venkys did this, we got relegated from the premier league almost instantly. Low balling contracts to key players causing them to reject contracts and ended up sold or leaving on a free destroy the stability & cohesion within the team. Players come and go, yes, but you simply cant lose that amount of key players within such a short time. It's going to create one hell of a disaster
  6. Hes been brought in to go along with it, nod at everything they do and play the hand they give him without complaining. That is why he is here that's why he was selected from the jobless pile by whoever controls things at Ewood. At best he is a bang average journeyman coach who comes across every since he set foot in the place as someone who is just going through the motions. Stick is a huge part of the job and he knows this so he'll have to lump it, seven days ago he was praised, today deserves some questions.
  7. He is only 23 tbf and has already played in the conference league. We have plenty of time to develop him so id take that any day tbh
  8. Our marquee signing had 2X less the goals than Gueye had in the Belgium league and in a better team. Concerning….
  9. Fact they’ve spun it that Trav wanted to leave. They should have knew when he came back from Ipswich to sort a deal out as he wanted to stay but I’m sure this was intentional to get him off the wage bill
  10. That's why my remark was a question and not a judgement. It's quite right to have those questions when we've lost four of our first five games, including to lower league opposition.
  11. I agree but the patience of fans has been severely tested for much longer than VI's reign so you can't blame anyone for being pissed off. Only recently we've gone from a journey to a project and now we're in a transition.
  12. Gudjohnsen could be the marquee signing. That means there's a fine chance it'll fall through....
  13. I’m going to keep the cantwell train going here. I thought he was the standout player today. Worked his nuts off with out the ball and seemed to be everywhere in my opinion. Proper skippers performance. Gets a lot of plaudits with the ball for his technical play, but without it he didn’t shy away with not putting a shift in. Keep it up skip
  14. Pretty basics options I guess but fine. surprisingly the blues bar was rammed in the end tbf
  15. Poor attendance, fans voting with their feet. This season has disaster written all over it.
  16. Today
  17. Joking aren't you?' Had months if not years to sort out a b new contract for Travis. Wanted him off the list to save money and for him to get the blame.
  18. I'm talking about Ismael and what has gone on in this window. It's the biggest upheaval in a squad and he can't be blamed for it.
  19. Gueye had a 50/50 battle with Ohashi last season. Neither were outstanding, but Gueye has had his chances and ultimately showed poor finishing in front of goal. I don't think Ismael fancies him, so we may as well twist.
  20. They've had four league games and the window isn't shut. If supporters aren't even going to give them more than that, then that's wholly unfair. We were rubbish in the first half, but the better team in the second half. A silly mistake cost us, and not for the first time. This head coach hasn't even had a full transfer window and a bit of time to settle thereafter. But it seems like many won't even give him that. That's clearly down to an underlying hatred of the owners, but it doesn't deserve to be laid at this head coach's door, nor the cruel judgment so far being passed on the players.
  21. Plenty of positives and frustrations from today's game... a major frustration being I've wanted them to sign a strong athletic centre back all summer but we ended up with McLoughlin and the reality is Modibo Sagnan who we started the summer off "in advance talks with" according to Jackson.... and Steve Kapuadi probably wouldn't have been beaten for pace as easily but we wouldn't pay the money needed. You need more ambition at this level. Buy cheap, buy twice. Suspect that might be the case with many of our cheap signings that aren't quite good enough... Gueye and Ohashi from last seasons business are probably prime examples. We're still in the market for strikers. Those smaller fees add up, just pay the money needed for the right quality Suhail.
  22. I don't think we have to worry about effort from the squad - the majority of them will put in a shift. The question mark is over their quality and their ability to gel as a team, particularly when you have so many different nationalities not just coming into the team as new players, but coming into English football in general as new players. It's a lot to ask in the short-term for them to all be on the same wavelength. When the core on-pitch leadership of the squad is pushed out, you lose that central point which new signings can anchor themselves to as they adapt to being part of a team.
  23. Any Potter fans (Rowling’s views notwithstanding) on here? Getting more and more news about HBO turning the books into a TV series, and surely keeping to the accuracy of the books much better than the films did. I know there’s a kerfuffle over Snape being cast as black, but black people can appear pale or pallid or sallow (the only colour-based words used to refer to Snape’s skin) too. He’s never specifically referred to as having white skin.
  24. It's no better here in France. Went to Lorient Lille this afternoon and the ref was really big club biased. Handed out yellow cards like sweets to Lorient players whilst giving Lille players a talking to. Match ended 1-7 and Lille deserved their win, but even handed the ref definitely wasn't. Oh and the player linked with Rovers last week missed a penalty.
  25. Some thoughts: Gueye was terrible. He needs to go. Tavares was poor. Kargbo ditto. We were crap in the 1st half, better in the 2nd. Plenty of work to be done...
  26. Ismael seemed to downplay the possibility of more signings beside Gudjohnsen without ruling it out. Elliott Jackson also seems to be under the impression that it might be just Gudjohnsen if that gets done. Thats a massive concern and leaves us short not of bodies but of certain qualities in a few areas. As mentioned, we badly need another senior goalkeeper. Goes without saying. We definitely need a midfielder. People suggesting that Tavares is an upgrade on Travis are totally wrong. He has shown flashes, was woeful today but seems like one we could develop but I wouldnt bank on him every week. Baradji is injured and Montgomery isnt ready. Browne would have been ideal with Championship experience but it seems with Gestede and Owen playing their own game of football manager, its not important. We also still need some pace across the front line, ideally from wide. We needed some going into the summer and havent got that. Kargbo is the only pacy player and he isnt up to the standard. I would like another striker too and to get rid of Gueye.
  27. add: Calling back the throw in in second half JW side when we were through only to give it to Rovers Getting in the way of one of our attackers again in the second half as were moving forward Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's cost us the game - the players have done that themselves but it was a pretty shite performance. That said, most are.
