  1. Past hour
  2. So the fact that none of the players we wanted to keep have all refused new deals was just because we didnt see value in any of them? Why did we (eventually) offer contracts to them at all?
  3. Never won enough though. They also made plenty of excuses, JDT especially.
  4. Did he say that he wasnt doing his utmost for the club he was working for? Like with the theory that he actively didnt want promotion, which makes no sense. Your imagination runs wild when Mowbray is involved.
  5. Maybe because the people deciding the wages thought he wasn’t worth what he wanted or could get elsewhere? Similarly to Brittain and Dolan?
  6. JDT and Eustace did win football matches, I have serious doubts that the present incumbent will,, with his 6.ft plus athletes!
  7. I wouldn't bet on it
  8. Thats not the case. Travis hasnt been let go as part of aggressive attempts to make us better. We wanted him to stay, like with any of our better players we couldnt get him to sign a new deal so have had to replace him with someone who will take a smaller wage.
  9. Judging by the insanely high turnover of non playing staff, the Club would seem to be a fairly toxic environment to work in. I think Id rather take her word for it as someone who's worked there rather than any of us on here who haven't. Think it was Glen who said employees aren't valued at the Club and there's little opportunity for pay rises or advancement. Similarly with Head Coaches and playing staff, Suhail doesn't seem to value in the least anyone who has done particularly well for us. The attitude isn't "We need to keep hold of this fella at all costs" it seems to be "We'll just get someone else in and we'll probably be able to get them to do it cheaper".
  10. People seemingly don’t understand that giving one player a big wage rise generally means everyone wants one too. I also am one of the few seemingly who doesn’t want more money off the Rao’s, I can’t get my head round the majority position here which is β€œfuck off venkys / Spend more money Venkys”… to me they are contradictions. Only time will tell on the replacements, but I’m with you on this one - the results we’ve had with Dolan, Travis, Brittain etc never got us further than outside the playoffs. So why give them a pay rise?
  11. Dack is the only one for me really since the end of the Big Sam era. He played the biggest part in us not rotting away in league 1 and was a joy to watch at times as well.
  12. It's beginning to look like they didn't want to...
  13. It's all reminiscent of your first bash on Championship Manager. Take over Rovers, get shut of a few high earners for a few quid, sign a few foreign unknowns for buttons to fill the squad - exciting times. Lose half of your friendlies, new signings average 5 or 6/10 every game, go 5 games without a win, flirt with the bottom 3 and then don't save and start again.
  14. Surely this time the penny will finally drop with the ' experts' that he is a total fraud?
  15. I couldn't say what they're paying him, but 30k I would agree is too much. They could have tied him down for an extra 5-10k though 18 months ago, I'm sure of that.
  16. This is an interesting point to me. All that talk from Gestede about increasing the minutes of homegrown players but we've turfed them all out, so I've no idea where they're planning on making the gap up.
  17. You know what though... If true... Lewis Travis ain't worth 30 fucking grand a week and is absolutely replaceable... If we will or have done is another matter.
  18. 🎣 the Lowe line got a few nibble but in all seriousness now have we had someone you would consider a legend since the Tugay, Dunn MGP era? Maybe Mulgrew, Dack, or Rhodes. For Mennonite has consistently been at the club performing at the top level to be considered. Dack would be if it wasn’t for injuries.
  19. I could listen to him all day, talking about football...but I did get a belly-full of "Rovers fans, just want to see Shearer and Sutton banging in the goals again"...The old "entitled" card? I think we just wanted a normal club again...
  20. I cant wait to hear it
  21. Funny, isn't it. There have been so many players I have loved... Eamonn Rogers, Billy Wilson, John McNamee, Kit Napier, Roger Jones, Howard Gayle, Bradley Dack, for instance........and household names, who, somehow, did not stir my emotions in the same way. Subjectivity....and I loved Trav. He seemed to represent something...
  22. Wouldn't want to end up like them....
  23. What happened when he left may I ask? πŸ‘€πŸ‘€
  24. Wonder what the philosophical post-match nugget of wisdom will be this time.
  25. Have the pundits been on to tell us about how, even though they're 5-0 down at half time, they're playing the right way and Martin is some kind of football shamen?
  26. Since when have the owners and Suhail pasha been shipped out?
