Another thing to look at are the wages other teams are offering for players that aren't "difference makers", when you do you realise how far Rovers are sinking. It's now become very clear that Rovers are completely incapable of renewing current first team players contracts. This is the future under the direction Suhail Pasha and Venky's and it isn't a sustainable one in the Championship. Any decent owner would sack all involved in the laughable number of players down to 1 year left on their deal. Total incompetence. List the club for sale!! It's time to go. Venky's and Pasha OUT! -

Obviously the first half of last season he and his teammates were loving life doing well at the top end of the league and playing under a manager they gave everything for and had galvanised the club in the space of a few months, The time for new contracts was then and had that been done I'm sure that most of Travis, Batth, Weimann, Brittain and Dolan would have signed up and we would have secured our foundations for years to come, perhaps even more importantly it would probably have persuaded Eustace and his team to stick around and keep going. But the people at the top of this club - with their questionable links, backgrounds and no reason to believe any of them have a clue about running football clubs - know better. This is what makes it even more difficult to accept - that we had what we needed in the palm of our hand and they have dismantled it in 6 short months for no real reason. -

Expected Hyam to the next one as will have suitors, Tronstad seems to go under the radar and anyone wanting Hedges must be batshit mental. Managed decline. -

"The 29-year-old, who played every minute of Rovers' Championship season in 2024/25, has been offered a new two-year contract on the same terms as the deal he signed in 2021 when he arrived from Coventry City." So in other words, a pay drop taking into account inflation etc -

I don't think Hyam should get much of a bump. Adjust his wages for inflation and I think it's a decent offer based on what he contributes to the team. -

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25389814.dom-hyam-contract-deadlock-blackburn-rovers-offer/ And another one Dom Hyam's long-term future at Blackburn Rovers is in doubt after unresolved contract talks between club and player. The Lancashire Telegraph can exclusively reveal details of negotiations that has led to uncertainty over whether he will be at Ewood Park before the summer transfer window shuts. Hyam is one of four first-team players out of contract at Rovers this summer. Lewis Travis, Sondre Tronstad and Ryan Hedges are the others with Adam Forshaw also signing up to a new one-year deal in the summer. The 29-year-old, who played every minute of Rovers' Championship season in 2024/25, has been offered a new two-year contract on the same terms as the deal he signed in 2021 when he arrived from Coventry City. READ MORE: Lewis Travis' Blackburn Rovers wish, contract stand-off and inside messy divorce That would extend his stay at Rovers until 2027, so a further 12 months on his current deal, which expires next summer. Hyam is not at the top of Rovers' wage list but, equally, as a senior player, is not at the bottom either. After three successful seasons at Blackburn, the deal on offer is not one that is likely to be signed at the time of writing. Sources have reiterated to the LT that Hyam is happy at Rovers and has no interest in leaving the club this summer. If Blackburn want to move in a different direction, he is happy to see out the final year of his deal or sign a new deal if the offer is improved. However, Rovers are open to a sale if the defender is unwilling to commit his future. Club sources claim that there were indications that this level of contract would be accepted. That is disputed by sources close to the player. Blackburn do not want to risk losing any more players on free transfers after Tyrhys Dolan's exit. As a result, Hyam's future is up in the air and it's possible he could leave the club this month if an acceptable offer arrives. At the time of writing, The LT is not aware of any formal offers to the club or player from rival teams. He remains a key player for Valerien Ismael and despite this stand-off, there is no suggestion he won't continue to be involved. Rovers have also verbally communicated that they're open to discussions with Ryan Hedges but no formal contract offer has been tabled. The club opened talks with the Welshman last December but nothing materialised with a change of head coach, a chaotic end to the season and Chief Executive Steve Waggott leaving. In the last month, Rovers have again intimated a willingness to resolve his expiring contract but the structure of their proposal has been unclear and no agreement is close. -

On Tuesday we played a kid keeper and another youngster in Montgomery. There's an argument the rest are generally first team or in closely contention. The only real excuse is a few of them are new to English football this summer. I think most of us will admit that there wasn't a ton of changes we could make that would make us significantly stronger. Keeper obviously. We expect a long old season. I'll not type it again but you can see the reasons why in my post here on another thread. Good luck at Stoke. -

Fair play to Trav if he can get that kind of money - frankly even if it was only a few thousand difference it'd make sense for him to pursue a move to a genuinely ambitious club where he knows (and presumably gets on well with) the manager. I've always found it difficult to blame any player (or manager) for wanting to leave the club under the current ownership. As long as they're professional about it until they leave, it's not a problem for me. -

He won't be getting £30k a week at Derby or any other Championship club. It is a made up figure designed to portray Rovers as powerless in this scenario and unable to compete. He -might- double his basic pay from £10k to £20k a week at a push. When he signed his deal he was up and coming and he's since amassed over 200 games in this league and been our captain for 4 years so I'd say a hefty wage rise is a reasonable expectation Remember - It is Rovers not operating or behaving as an established Championship club that is the issue here, not everyone else behaving unreasonably. If we can't or won't pay the going rate then we will end up in a lower division. Quite simple really. If you are comfortable with that then enjoy it, I won't be. -

City fan observations . It is realised you guys started with a number of squad based players but not such a detriment to your capabilities We did the same , 6 out of the 10 outfield players hadn’t started in either of the two league fixtures thus far so let’s say it was a somewhat level playing field ? To be fair I think our first half press and reactive speed caught you guys off guard ? It was really difficult to understand your defensive shape , somewhat of a mishmash perhaps ? Not quite sure what or who your fullbacks were marking ? Our young Metcalf who we bought from Everton about four weeks ago , was given free reign in the spine of midfield , in fact he was my man of the match over and above Tavares , your ground slapping lad ( what was that all about, especially as he sprinted away from the scene after being doused by a wet sponge ) after let’s say a robust tackle caught him asleep . Some on here raving about Cantwell…wow the attempted con for a “ penalty” was seen through even by you guys. He wasn’t that good tbh and very lightweight ? For your sakes I hope your left out “ main men” perform better against Brum at the weekend , ( Your second half was much much better, but the game was already lost ) otherwise I suspect it will be a long old season… Good luck going forward. -

What we might want at that sort of money, isn't what you can get... at least not in this country anymore Id not call Matt Grrimes (£35K/week at Coventry) a difference maker either (not saying he isnt good, but he isn't a difference maker)
