I thought it was a penalty when it happened but I don’t think the ‘error’ in not awarding it was clear and obvious. I’m also not a fan of them using slow mo, freeze frames or closeups - for me that just proves the original decision can’t have been obviously wrong. Personally I’d scrap VAR as I think there’s more bad to it than good.

I think he would look good in most teams that are in the top half of the Championship to be honest. He's one of those players which is going to be better with other players around him on his level/wavelength. Sometimes he tries things at Rovers then looks visibly frustrated that other players didn't see the run or the pass etc. A team like Boro or Coventry could come in for him, poach him off us for peanuts, easily pay him more than we would and even have him as a luxury squad player, like Ipswich did with the Travis loan and the Szmodics transfer. Our best players are squad players for the stronger Championship sides.

I don't know why but I can really see him in the MLS and shining. -
One of the few things VAR can get involved in as a result of a clear and obvious error is a penalty. The referee, having seen the replay gave the penalty. A clear indication that he was wrong in the first Instance as he could easily have stuck with his decision of no foul.

I'm worried about Cantwell as well, has his head been turned? Has his agent sorted him something for January, meaning he won't want to scupper a move by aggravating any injuries etc? It was a few days, then a few weeks, now we're into November. Probably 6 weeks before he can bolt, along with Toth and Tronstad. Fingers crossed that I'm deluded and he plays and scores on Friday...

For fucks sake I'd forgotten Pears was in nets. Agree with @RevidgeBlue on Cantwell, I don't think he's injured. -

😉 Regarding Baradji don't be so bloody impatient man! There's still 37 days until Christmas yet FFS! what on earth do you expect! As far as Cantwell is concerned gut reaction dictates we won't see him in a Rovers shirt again, there feels something extremely off about both situations. -

As John Cleese said on Monty Python This is all getting very silly! Anderson better than Wharton Wharton better than Scholes Rice better than Lampard In Next week's episode "Bobby Charlton - was he all that?"

So, here it is, AFTER the Nivember International break. How far out is Baradji's return now and WTH is going on with Todd Cantwell? No 1st choice central defenders, this falls swuarely on Gestede.and Co's shoulders for not getting in sufficient cover. Can only see us getting bioted all over the park by this dirty lot, no protection for Ohashi, will he be sporting yet another head bandage at the end of this game. I do not think we have the intestinal fortitude for this one, Pears in goal, could be a disaster. - Today

Rovers's January transfer needs
MarkBRFC replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Looks like he did his ACL a couple of years back and had various hamstring problems, will fit in nicely with Wharton and Carter. Although looks to have been an ever present this season to be fair save for one game on the bench. -
Rovers's January transfer needs

Sounds like our sort of signing, 30 years old, history of knee injures, and played just over 40 league games over the past 4 seasons, also out of contract at the end of the season -

I agree we need to pick up points, but we've seen enough of Rovers over the last five years to know we are actually more likely to get points from the better resourced teams for reasons it is hard to work out. Id put it more generally that we need around 50 to stay up, but safer at 55. So half way point Id aim for 30 minimum. To get that we need 14 points over the next 10 games... Feels doable. Even if we manage only 10 we are still probably outside the bottom three. The JDT strategy of risking more in our style and going for wins and accepting losses over draws is the better bet imo. Hard-fought draws give the illusion of stability but actually quite corrosive in terms overall points per game. -

I think that's exactly how we'll play unfortunatly. Can see them coming out with a huge intensity while we look lethargic and just not up for it, and having our lot beat within the first 30 minutes. -

I don't mind the PNE derbies. Generally good away followings and a feeling that its a genuine local rivalry, without all the bullshit attached to the Burnley games. I'm annoyed when we lose, but you can go in the pub after and chat to Preston fans about the game as it should be. You just can't do that for the Burnley fixtures, and every defeat grates hugely until the next time we play that lot. Rivalry-wise I've always considered Preston and Bolton to be very similar, with Blackpool and Wigan being more akin to the likes of Morecambe, Oldham, Stockport etc.. -

Oxford, Pompey, QPR, Sheff Weds twice. All before the end of 2025. Those matches will define the season l think. We need to take minimum of 12 points from the 15 available in those or we're in gonna be stuffed. -

Jim Smith lived near me in a sprawling property (Springfield Cottage)which subsequently became a smallish nursing home next to the big modern one Springfield Clinic on Preston New Rd. As a kid I cheekily wrote to him at the Club suggesting players we could buy. Expecting that to be the end of it. I received back from him a beautiful letter on Club headed notepaper with his home address on thanking me for my interest and explaining why we could or couldnt try for each player. Finished off with Jim's flourishing signature in fountain pen. Can you imagine that these days? Be filed straight in the bin.
