2025 Summer Transfer Thread. π

Great performance yesterday particularly the defence but I do feel that we are one body light in the centre. I know Rudy has ruled out another signing but canβt help thinking a change of mind would be sensible. -

I can understand your points here I totally agreed with your last point As I said before the owners made a bad decision getting rid of Wilder, no surprise they have panic already and got back to Wilder, more surprised Wilder has even entertain their approach -
As long as it is wins he is talking about, I don't care what Dunny calls us.

I listened to the post match hour long show yesterday and I did find it very weird how he always just calls us 'Blackburn' and I really don't like it at all. Maybe he is trying not to sound biased, but that shouldn't be a problem as every pundit on there is picked for their affinity to the local clubs. You would think someone local who played here almost his entire career would know different. -

Dunny is a proper Rover. He does some broadcasting work which requires him to refer to us as 'Blackburn' but he's a genuine lad that loves the club. -

I guess David Dunn must not be a proper Rovers fan since he called us 'Blackburn', according to some strangely obsessed people on here. -
A good manager plays his best team, not who he is obliged to pick. Sentimentality counts for nowt.

Gestede has come across as unprofessionally and arrogantly? I think we can all see why Ismael wanted to wait so long in the transfer window to sign Morishita. yes some signings have been good so far like Alebiosu, McLoughlin, Miller, while Tavares look good against Hull and yesterday mostly. De Neve and Henriksson haven't look good but if we all remember neither did Tronstad when he first joined us, after a couple of months, settling in, understanding tactical what was needed he is key player for us. on the contract issue, Rovers dealt with them by selling them and getting fees in, which we used to sign other players. Its clear that Rovers have wage budget and have a limit how much we can pay each week so if we can't extend those contract then surely given your previous stance you want us to sell them? or has that change? -

Interesting to see the avarage position during yesterdays match. Looks like Morishita drifts central and Ohashi below cantwell. Aldo, tha fullbacks more like wingbacks. Tavares to cover the lower central mid. -

They won 2 nil at Millwall before the break so I suspect he felt obliged to keep them the same. -

5 games in. I presume you wish relegation upon them and consider it a disgrace? -

I think that West Brom appointment was a sentimental and emotional decision from all concerned. Mowbray had just been given the all clear from such a major illness, it never felt right or likely to work out and didnt. He obviously isnt as poor a manager as made out on here. He did a good job here and did a better job at Sunderland. Both clubs werent as equipped to expect to finish in the top 6 like Sheff United are. But I certainly cant see how he would be a standout candidate now, especially considering his recent illness. Wouldnt make sense to me. Wilder is the obvious and most sensible shout but there is a lot of water under the bridge, and you do wonder if that would cause issues. Also, the squad has had a big overhaul since last season. -
90+ points, 2 points deducted, play off final, arguably unlucky to lose late on to Sunderland. If that had happened at Ewood the manager would be given years in the job off the back of it. Wilder clearly the best man for that job, the new owners there very foolish but falling for the laptop / football manager spiel like so many others have in 'modern' football apparently needing a 'head coach' and 'structure' and 'alignment' but in doing so have cost untold time and money. No. You need to just support a good manager when he's done well. Bit like us with Eustace.
-
Mowbray's last gig saw him take a WBA side in contention for playoffs and get sacked three months later with it being all but impossible for them to get into the top six. We repeatedly saw him do this with us as well. He did well during his first season Sunderland but that aside, I don't think he's the man to appoint if you're looking to get into the playoffs, let alone get promoted. On recent evidence Wilder is a smarter choice, especially as he knows the club extremely well. If Sheff Utd's goal was simply to stablise and finish top half/mid table then yes, Mowbray would be an OK appointment.
-
Why not appoint Coyle then? Or George Burley, Nigel Worthington or Micky Adams?
-
Agree Ismael has to prove he is flexible and show he can make the team play well and win games more than one way
-
Great words from Amir: Rip Ricky. Once had a night on the town with him in Newcastle back in the day. Proper down to earth, thoroughly nice bloke. And that was just before the Mayweather fight, so was at his peak. Couldn't have had more time for people despite the fame at the time.

My point is Wilder has a more recent record of promotion, so think his point remains valid. Not sure I would be overly enamoured with either. Wilder knows the club and only left 10 minutes ago but it's pretty uninspiring and suggests a club with no strategy or plan. -

Majority? Id say it is a split based on the very little we have seen. Alebiosu, Miroshita, McLoughlin, Miller and Gudjohnsen, good signs to varying degrees. TGH I suspect will be a useful squad man. Tavares, De Neve, Henriksson, big question marks ane Baradji a waste of time. But either way, our issues wont be apparent 5 games into the season as our first 11 is competitive and that has always been the case. Its when the games tick by, the injuries mount up and a lack of depth is exposed. - Today

Yes, against Birmingham we played like the away team, in the first half against Norwich at home it felt similar. We can't cower against Ipswich and let them take control of the game, or we'll get smoked like Sheffield United did on Friday. -

Its was K-Hod point not mine. I would give Mowbray the job cos of the rebuilding job he did here and Sunderland who he got into the playoffs. -
I still have nightmares of Swansea away vs 10 men where Buckley played as a false 9 by himself as Giles whipped in crosses to nobody.

roversfan99 replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Obviously getting wages down is very much the plan. But dont let them fool you into thinking this summers overhaul is part of any plan. They wanted to keep all of the players that left and planned far less in the way of a squad change. Do we deserve more than 6 points? The game that seems to cause people to think we are hard done by is the Birmingham game. There was little in the game either way for 85 minutes, just one moment of quality. But it was solely down to our naivety and our poor decision making that led to a defeat. I still dont get how we can end that game feeling hard done by. Otherwise, West Brom and Norwich were deserved defeats. Hull we clearly deserved to win. I would also strongly suggest that we deserved to win yesterday, we took the lead and saw the game out very well. But if you argued that we deserved more v Birmingham, you could probably say that on quality of chances and territory it was pretty even. Your general point at the end is fair by the way. -

South coast derby on. This might be the kiss of death but Pompey are taking the game to Southampton and look the better side. Not much to fear in the league this season!
