He did a decent job at united. No one has succeeded there. I'd take him in an instant
-
Genuinely appreciated his comment about it being a working class town. Struck a chord with me

Sam Szmodics - opinion changed ?

Sammie Szmodics: Ipswich Town boss explains Derby County loan switch | East Anglian Daily Times probably did well to get so much for him, watch him come into form for Derby now though. -
Realistically not happening regardless but I wouldn't judge any manager based on their time there tbf Considerably more distinguished managers achieved either not much more or even less - and we would take any of them in dreamland!

-
There were some days, when you read his heartbreaking autobiography, when he didn't know.
-
This lot running the show probably don’t know who Matt Jansen is.
-
If Johnson gets the job it wouldn't be for the right reasons. It appears he has no pressing desire to be a manager, which begs the question of why we would ask him to do it a minute longer than necessary, but beyond that they wouldn't be doing it for the good of the club/team. They'd be doing it because they can't be arsed or don't want the cost/hassle of finding an established manager and paying what it takes.
-
Nothing against Johnson but we don't need another rookie. Like bowyer who had the best squad we've had at this level and failed miserably
-
That's good
-
Don't know how many times this has to be repeated but he doesnt want it. (Other than on an interim basis)
-
Starting to think this would be my number one choice. As with everyone else currently in employment though, faces the massive stumbling block that we very rarely pay compo for anyone. Still also very happy with Bilic or Rowett if either are interested. That would be my shortlist of 3.
-
Don't want Johnson. He'd be a cheap appointment who'd go along with everything gestede tells him. I want someone the players will respect
-
Adventurous AND with the sentimental value added. What's not to love? I don't think I've ever celebrated a goal overheard on RadioRovers as hard as I celebrated Jansen's goal, on his first game after his injury, against Portsmouth in 2004.

Tea and biscuits Shame about Vi wasn't it? We've had 368 applications for the job. We did our best but January's always a really difficult window. We can't do anything about the pitch until the end of the season. Aren't those horrible kit suppliers being nasty sueing us? As if we'd do anything wrong. We can't talk about it obviously. Is that all? Great. See you in a few months! Toodlepip.

The group meets bi-monthly with senior managers at the club - such as the Chief Executive, Chief Operating Officer, Head of Operations, Head of Commercial and the Supporter Liaison Officer https://www.rovers.co.uk/fans/fans-forum/ So that’s six meetings a year then… there were *three* in 2025. ‘We are always open to dialogue with our fantastic supporters’ yada yada yada.

That is already the case, but initial fees are difficult. Unless they are enormous they would do little to put some teams off, and even then, and for some players would be woefully inadequate Anyone below 16 shouldn't be allowed to be poached - in an ideal world... but what if a players parents legitimately move for a new job? And then if those cases are then allowed, then the system is open to abuse Maybe the whole system could be standardised? Something like all of the below? Initial fee of £100K multiplied by number of years the player has been at the academy. That could potentially mean close to a million straight out of the gate and would dissuade many from gambling on poaching Future sell on fee of X% multiplied by number of years the player has been at the academy A flat fee for each of the first however many first team appearances Another flat fee for a first international appearance... this may have to be a different figure depending upon which nation the player ends up playing for.. an appearance for France/England/Spain is worth a lot more than an appearance for the Cook Islands

The fact that Challinor could bring Matt Jansen with him surely does his chances no harm at all
-
My thoughts exactly.
-
Seems likeable enough but no-one can take him seriously after his spell at Man Ure can they?
-
I'm sure there was a theory circulating on here when Ismael was appointed that the club deliberately circulates underwhelming names (third choices) to distract from the fact when a second choice manager is appointed its a relief and not a disappointment we didn't get an ambitious pick
-
Rowett and Bowyer's love child?
- Today
-
Think it will be a team of Rowett and Sale
-
OGS would be remarkable and might help the mainstream media focus on the circus upstairs.
-
Think it will be Gary Rower
