the efl have now set their own precedent and will have to follow it up ,there are certain to be some abandoments in the future,will they act in the same manner as they have done here????thats the big question,tbh,i thought the old rule of over a certain time the result stood,it seems they`ve changed the rules without telling anybody lets see if they apply their "Logic" to future abandonments

I think the pitch was higher, possibly by a couple of foot - around the time the ground was redeveloped. There was a significant drop off once over the touchlines which could be a bit dodgy for the players and made taking corners difficult. So if the pitch is now lower, it would explain why we are seeing more problems than we used to. Water table is now higher. It could be put right with some engineering and owners prepared to pay for it. But we all know the problem there.

It could have been the 91st minute of 93, they'd have demanded a full replay. They didn't use logic, they just fell back onto their old archaic rules.

Install a switch that blocks the drainage pipes on demand. Everytime it rains heavy, and we're a couple goals down with half hour to go, activate it, and waterlog the pitch. Get out of jail free card, we get to restart the match like on a computer game. We might finally have a chance of getting in the playoffs via that method.

Not the same. Part of the “review” should be all the facts. Like the game that was an abandoned and not replayed because it was meaningless, the more meaningful the match is should be part of the decision. At this point the match is meaningful but not yet known how much so.

In theory If we loosing the replay. Can we just leave the sprinklers on at half time and not turn them and claim there's a technical fault? Keep replaying the game til we win? 😀

I'm curious as to whether the same decision would have been made if we'd have been playing at Portman Road and the game had been abandoned in the same circumstances, albeit it would have had to have been for a different reason as Portman Road would likely have been able to withstand the rainfall. I think that's where any appeal will fall down. It was at our ground and it was Ewood that was deemed unplayable. A full replay is obviously not even close to the fairest decision, but I think if we appeal the EFL will simply point to our ground being inadequate and that will be that. Probably best to just move on and hope our players and management are doubly motivated to smash Ipswich in the replayed fixture.

Not surprised by the outcome, but the only outcome that should have been made is that we start the game at the same minute it was stopped, with Ipswich starting with 10 men. Ipswich will almost certainly win the replay so we've been robbed of 3 points.

There was a yellow weather warning which named Ewood area and Waterfall area in Blackburn. Didn't see mention of other local towns close to grounds. Throughout the day it rained with the heaviest after 4pm. Anyway its done now, decision has been made. No point appealing as the "appeal" situation is there to appease the EFL (so called) process. Blackburn Rovers 0 EFL 1 Gutted about this but I'll get over it.

We're 1-0 down on the last game of the season, we need a goal to stave off relegation. The game gets cancelled with 15 minutes to go because of freak weather. After a hearing, the EFL decide to award the opposition the 3 points. We are relegated. So we just sit there and say nothing?
