It paints the picture of exactly where we are right now* - as you say in 5 games time things could be much worse and can’t be any better (vs last year). * this stat is fine as it’s proving the point I wanted to make, it’s the ones which don’t which are wrong 😁😁 -

Rovers's January transfer needs
roversfan99 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Yes he should play on Wednesday (we have no alternative but to play him although he deserves to stay in the team anyway) and my opinion that I have shared a few times about how we did on Friday is summed up in those first 4 words, "Pratt did very well." He should certainly start the next game, and he will be given the opportunity to be considered a first teamer because regardless of how he does in the next month, he is one of 3 centre backs that we have so he will need to play every minute of every game this month. The opportunity is there for him. Best case scenario, we come through December and he proves that he can handle consistent Championship games. Certainly no suggestion here that he should be dumped or forgotten about. But we will need new centre backs either way. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

I don't disagree with any of that. But then it just makes me question why the manager allowed the club to sell Dominic Hyam right at the very last second of the transfer window? He was by far our most experienced and least injury-prone central defender, we didn't need to sell him for any reason. We should actually have been doubling down by giving him a small pay rise and a new contract. VI should have been arguing for this. But we 'cashed in'. If I was VI I would have blocked/vetoed that sale and made it a red line. It was a crazy decision, but he allowed it. Knowing how injury prone our other defenders are and not knowing whether youngsters like Pratt would be ready to step-up made it a massive gamble. Yes we've had bad luck with injuries and suspensions, but that's why you keep the squad as strong as you can and retain as much experience as you can. We didn't do any of that this summer. On his watch. I don't understand what his ambition is for Blackburn Rovers. I know I come across as really negative about him, I would genuinely like nothing better than to be eventually proved wrong, looking a fool and have people saying "cannot believe you wrote him off, you're an idiot". However I cannot see us making any progress as a football club under him. To me, he's part of the cheap, cheerful, mediocre approach which is endemic throughout the club. -
2-0 Arsenal HT We had the Polar opposite of the Liverpool v City game, when a goal that probably SHOULD have been ruled out for offside for a player blocking the keeper's view, wasnt. I absolutely despair with VAR. Most of the time you just get the wrong decision being made twice.

Thomas Frank got his tactics badly wrong in the first half of the North London Derby. I would be making 2 changes if I was Spurs head coach. Begivall on for Danso and Johnson for Odabert. Go 4-3-3 Frank doesnt seem to rate Johnson for some reason.

They were a bit lucky with the disallowed goal for Forest too, so it could have been even worse. They are just wide open though and too many players not performing.

Championship Season 25-26
RevidgeBlue replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The problem with that stat is that as usual it paints a fairly misleading picture. From the equivalent stage last season we won our next five games up to and including Luton at home. Six on the bounce in total prior to the annual collapse. So we would need fifteen points from the next fifteen to still be three points behind where we were last season by the same point. If we manage that, I will be sitting up and taking notice! -

I checked the table for the first time this season yesterday. Rovers are 6 points off 6th, and 6 points off a relegation spot. It looks like a typical Championship year table. 1 team, Coventry, running away with top spot. 1 team, Sheff Wed, miles away at the bottom. The rest are fighting in the middle. -

I was once speaking to a lady born in 1920 who said she remembered as a young girl Rovers bringing the FA Cup back on the bus in 1928. As a side note also claimed that when she was young there were around 100 pubs between Witton lights and the town centre. Not everything changes for the better! -
Looks like a Pink Floyd album cover.

Trouble is overhauling of the squad is going to be an annual occurrence moving forward so results will continue to drop off each season by your reckoning until the inevitable happens. -

Rovers's January transfer needs
RevidgeBlue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Id be happy with one plus O Riordan. The general point I was making was that I dont suppose our January budget will be very big so I wouldnt want it all blown on CB's. As regards Pratt, he came in and seized his chance with both hands. Surely you have to give him the opportunity to kick on and be considered a first teamer? Until he proves otherwise it would be harsh in the extreme to dump him and forget about him as soon as someone else comes in. -

so what is Pratt? would you play him on Wednesday and what did you think of his performance on Friday? -
Agreed. It was deja vu from my comments after the City game. Too many players were mis controlling balls, playing errant passes, and generally playing scared. The ball dinged off Konate's shin twice before going out for the corner that Forest scored their first goal from. Mac Allister missed a simple tackle for the second, and Robertson got turned inside out for the third. Their current predicament can be nicely summed up by 2 incidents in the first half. Gakpo pitifully pulling out of a challenge he was favoured to win, and with 20 seconds to go before the halftime whistle instead of getting the ball into the box they played a couple of backwards passes on the left side and the ball ended up going out of play for a Forest throw. They have no heart, desire, or graft. They are ponderous going forward too. They play too many deliberate, safe passes in and around the middle of the opposition half without anyone trying to make anything happen. None of their wide players - full backs or wingers ever get in behind. Salah and Gakpo cut inside at every opportunity further decreasing space. They are very easy to play against. Sit off them and let them pass around in front of the back line.
