If/When we get relegated..
Tim Southampton Rover replied to ManaliveKarl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The only benefit to being relegated is getting rid of the dross and watching our academy players play each week. The few positives so far this season has been watching Pratty, Atcheson, Litherland, Doherty, Powell etc get opportunities to play in the first team and them doing well. There are plenty more in the academy coming through who i'd prefer to see play than some of the first team. -

Question will again have to be asked of just what exactly are venkys getting out of this? They do not show any sign of being interested or feeling that it’s benefiting their business in any way. Continued year on year cost cutting and failure to reinvest has got us to this stage, leading weren’t learned from last time we dropped, we have again been led by incompetent snake oil salesmen, major disconnect between fans and everything else with the club. I always felt that one day, in the far off future granted , but in my lifetime , we would grace the premier league again. I’m now bracing up to the realisation that this probably isn’t going to happen, there is very little separating us from other local teams such as fleetwood , we are being left way behind as others have jumped right up and overtook us. A lot would need to change to reverse our fortunes and make this a team worth getting behind and supporting again , I know I’m not alone in feeling complete apathy and just lost in my feelings to what’s currently happening. It’s just not fun. Will it ever be again? the questions and answers from venkys, gestede, pasha will probably never be asked nor answered -

This side gets relegated again. Would prefer Garrett in the middle over Sid. -

It's very depressing reading the choices interested. Having Rowett over some of the dross out there is a bit like choosing between stubbing my toe on the radiator or falling off a ladder and breaking both my ankles. I don't particularly want either but one is clearly better than the other! -

Don't disagree, club is rotten all the way through. -
Ones beyond crap, and the other two are managing Premier League clubs.

Yes Rowett like Lambert or Eustace will present them with his 3 year plan A and plan B. They won;t like that though because V's don't do plans they do whims and they've already installed the 'planners' they want in Suhail/Owen and Gestede. So it'll be 'Gary you come in to coach the team and be on the touchline whilst we take care of the rest'

I'm still struggling to understand how we are now effectively operating on a League One budget - which we clearly are with the players and contracts we are offering - yet we are still losing between £10 and 20 million a year, a figure that has remained remarkably steady over the years despite clear cost cutting. For a loss of £20 million a year - which Chief Venky stooge claims is the owners' input - we should have a competitive Championship budget - yet we clearly don't, and combined with incompetence upstairs is going to lead to our demise if not this year then next. -

I'm not sure that's entirely fair on Alebiosu, didn't we have 12 crosses in the first half or something like that, with 0 people getting on the end of them? He could be the best winger in the world but if we're only going to commit Ohashi to the box we might as well not bother. -
I think someone like Rowett would want to do a proper job - not just come in for 15 games and then leave again - that's not really a good reputation for someone his age to get. That's the sort of role Warnock carved out for himself in his late 60s and 70s - fine if you are coming out of retirement for a bit then stepping back again but if you are peak of your career you need to be more than just a few games here and there. Birmingham was an exception due to the Mowbray health situation. More important than that will be the two stooges and their plans. They were incompatible with Eustace and I remain convinced that transfer failings in January played a significant part in Ismael's departure, so absolute minimum I expect he will seek some proper assurances about the summer transfer window, and the only way he's getting those is if there's been a recalibration / rethink at the top of the tree and Gestede is being sidelined, which certainly would be deserved and positive if it was, but I think unlikely given the cushy little gig the stooges have got going for themselves and their agent friends. They don't want outsiders upsetting that little arrangement.

With Pasha, Gestede and Owen still around we'll be hurtling down the leagues. The squad we have wouldn't be competitive in League One and they're not going to improve it that's for sure. -
I'm convinced Ismael had a 12 month break clause as well or he offered to go for a lower pay off, no way were these lot paying him off 2 years plus his assistant. No way, otherwise why the 3.6 years unless it was whiffy. An 18 month contract for Rowett with rolling on option would make sense but maybe not good enough for him.

That absolutely has to be the approach for QPR. The only chance of getting a desperately needed win is to score first. That NEVER looked like happening at Norwich. -

Could easily see Coleman being appointed ahead of Rowett, as he'll be the cheaper option

If so, the arse will have fallen out of the club, and we will be even more of a ghost town. He would fit right in for 30 pieces of silver. -

It would be typical Rovers to have last year given Ismael a 3.5 year deal despite big question marks over his competence and ability to last more than 40 games anywhere, and then fail to get Rowett done due to only wanting to offer him a short term deal, this a guy who has proven himself to be a highly competent Championship manager. I would be totally offended if I were Rowett and these clowns offered me a deal until May. Presumably they now know the mess we are in and the urgent serious need to get some know-how in the dugout but don't want Rowett longer term (because he will seek assurances, resources and influence, none of which the Venky stooges are willing to provide). No, come the summer they will want more of the same - Gestede selecting friendly agents' clients and offloading the precious little quality we have left. Someone like Rowett wouldn't stand for that so they will need someone else to oversee that 'phase' of the project. I expect failure here - they aren't good at getting anything done let alone quickly and I think he will run a mile when he realises what they are planning. A shame because on paper he'd probably love the chance to sort Rovers out and build us up but the Regime doesn't want that as John Eustace will confirm. So it will be embarrassing if/when we fail to get a deal done for an unemployed coach who was last sacked by Oxford. I dread to think who they have as Plan B but suspect Coleman or a foreign coach willing to take a 3-4 month deal.

Next Rovers manager
Proudtobeblue&white replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Why would anyone with half a brain come to this shit show. They have waited until the end of the transfer window, any new manager is limited to free agents and loans. Even if you give him/her £500,000, with a bonus doubling that, why? Hiding to nothing working with the two wastes of space and owners with their fingers in their ears. Rowett really would need to be desperate. -
He won't be coming. Looks all set for Chris Coleman.

It's very much when, not if. This squad isn't up to it at this level and id argue they wouldn't be up to it in league 1 either. -
If/When we get relegated..
alcd replied to ManaliveKarl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Stay up and do it all again next season with an even weaker squad - minus Toth, Carter, Alebiousu, Hedges, Cantwell, Alofalyan to name just some of those whose contracts have not been extended. A couple of those wouldn't be missed but as usual the gaps wiil be filled by inferior and of course much cheaper replacements. -
Failure to appoint a new guy well ahead of QPR would lend weight to the theory that they don’t give a flying one if we go down. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Johnson at the wheel come Saturday once again.
