and the fact he’s never been sent off before doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have been.

Ipswich are definitely building momentum now - it'll be interesting to see if they add in January. They could do with a proper goalscorer, but they may feel like they have enough already. They're still scoring enough in most matches, they just have the odd game here or there that they should win but instead end up drawing or occasionally losing. Boro have taken a pretty big risk hiring a relative unknown to replace Edwards. Much like with Vitor Matos at Swansea, it could either be an inspired appointment or one that tanks their promotion chances. They've only won one of their last six games now, so Hellberg is going to have to get a grip on things quickly if they want to remain in the promotion hunt. Southampton are going well under Eckert - not sure if he wants the gig full-time, but he's certainly making a strong case for it if so. With their squad they should be targeting playoffs as a minimum, so as long as they don't hire another dud you'd expect them to be up there. It's hard to know what to make of the rest. A lot of fluctuations in form for all of them at various points so far. Stoke's strong start has kept them up there, but they've already lost five matches, which is more than anyone else in the top six at the moment. Some strong, experienced managers at a lot of the clubs in and around the playoff positions - you'd have to think January is going to be vital for those who ultimately make it.

3-0 defeat to Tamworth. BBC has Stritch playing in CM, when he's an attacker/forward. Only 5 subs of the possible 7, according to BBC. Without knowing the details, just this alone looks another embarrassment. What sense to send out U21 players on one month-loans to non-league and then not able to field full squads in matches - and to weaken a poor side. It looks like self-sabotage. Though, it must be said, no guarantee that the full-strength reserves could beat Tamworth these days.

"BBC Sport understands that the fact it was his first red card in 226 international appearances was taken into account." Ah right, so past good behaviour allows the rules to become flexible. Who knew. I'm sure they'd do the same for a player who was less financially lucrative.

It's understandable him wanting all the hardcore that can come to turn up instead of the 8k who have been recently. Club really need to get off their arse and do something to fill the Blackburn end though if they want atmosphere versus squeezing people out of going and just grabbing as much as they can off the few. Clowns. -
How the hell could Sheffield W afford Liam Cooper who signed a week ago on a free? They got more money on wages than we have.

and so blatant too.

So so pathetic.

Some good results for us looking backwards, Norwich and Oxford draw and Swansea lose. In terms of mid-table (where I think we truly rank), PNE and Watford draw and Charlton, Hull and Leicester lose. I think Coventry and Ipswich will cruise the top 2 after Christmas. Boro, Stoke, Saints, Birmingham to make up the top 6. The likes of PNE, Hull, Millwall, Bristol City, Derby are miles off those mentioned above IMO. -
Atcheson came on at half time this eve. Litherland not involved for U21s tonight at all, so maybe he is on 1st team bench tomorrow?

Atcheson may be on the bench for tomorrows game ? -
Atcheson on the bench, presumably to give Olson some minutes, as he has hardly played this season

I hope you’re not suggesting they’d favour certain players over others. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c30jp9q4jp6o

When it comes to FIFA and commercialisation, nothing surprises me. Next they'll announce top seeds have an automatic bye to the knockouts regardless of where they finish in the group. Maybe they can create a new rule where top ranked players can be transferred to other countries if their team exits the tournament early. Keep the superstars around as long as possible.

The players are paid to contribute to the game, fans have to pay. -
Just checked the FA rules re Youth loans - see below: He’d still be allowed to do so if he was older (this one’s an EFL reg):

Why on earth doesn't Tavares get a game and where are Atchesson and Tyjon?
-
Loved a good old Rev Run sad to think they were bought then left unused. Tossers.

£10 entry tonight down in Tamworth. Ye gods.
-
Olson featuring for U21s v Tamworth this evening I wasn't aware he could do that, seeing as he is loaned out in League 2
