Gueye would set some real records in the Turkish League. Records in the sense that with his positional awareness he may be the first man to play a game of football in both Asia and Europe at the same time at Istanbul away -

Unpopular opinion, but if we got Dennis in for Gueye I would be happy. I imagine he'll be off to Saudi though. -

Before he leaves, someone may want to tell him that they have the offside rule out there too... -

Kocaelispor's record transfer spend is about Β£1.5m, way back in the year 2000... since then they've never spent over Β£700k on a player, but usually get them for way less or for free. Just for an idea of the peanuts we're likely to get for Gueye. -

Yeah this is correct. Looking at our squad though, the most I can see us registering is 23 and that includes Pears who might not be registered anyway. - Today

Makhtar Gueye is offside so often, if he boarded a flight to Turkey, he'd probably end up sitting a row ahead of his assigned seat -

Thing is the court case has been used as largely the reason this is happening now but way before it came to light we had the Lenihen, Nyambe, Rothwell saga's. Perhaps we are paying in a way for that now i'm sure if the owners were aware of it they can't have been happy with that at all, then there was BBD and 7 million and 4 years of coaching and wages flushed down the bog. Why is the shadowman still anywhere near the club ? Is this his way of trying to pay them back and atone for his errors ? If we listened back to some of Mowbray's hints in interviews towards the end of his reign they knew this was coming. -

Each league season is treated in isolation not average that point itself is irrelevant Wrexham have broke all sorts of records in their spending and are buying good championship proven players but letβs bite - Adam Wharton went to palace what does that say about him? didnβt say he was βgreatβ but at this level he is very good a not sure why your underplaying his ability -
I think it's a good move for him. I regularly watch NLN football and it's a good standard. In fact I saw Macclesfield at Southport a few weeks ago in a really good, competitive game played at a good tempo. Oh and also watching the game was one James Edmondson. Macclesfield are still part time so I guess Edmondson will still be training at Brockhall.

According to the job description, its only a 1 year contract, at which point the project will probably change again, so it probably is a stop gap π -

Exactly ! the contract issue is not new They faffed around with mcfadz he even left then eventually re signed but lost a summer of training let Diaz go for free let Dolan go for free etc they know they canβt keep losing assets so this way they recoup some ££ to keep the club afloat by using it to pay the bills not really reinvest itβs a real shame can understand why jdt and eustace walked in the way they did -

My only gripe, is in the interview with the LET he's openly calling it a stop gap before he finds something else and admits he's learning on the job. It reads as though this was hastily offered to him. Perhaps he's just too honest. It's definitely jobs for the boys but that is football it's a boys club, a lot of the time. Bigger fish to fry in terms of criticism of the club. Ultimately, I don't think it's a role that's too taxing, he should be able enough to judge the right level a player should be playing at and what support they need. Personally I'd give it to @KentExile who's basically doing half the job anyway -
Don't let him hear you get his job title wrong! RG= 'Head of Football Operations'.

He was in the 7th tier during his loan last season, which was only a couple of months (personally thought it should have been extended till the seasons end). He has just signed for half a season with a team likely to be right at the top of the 6th tier until the next transfer window. Should be a nice stepping stone for his development n my opinion. I said at the end of last season that I would like to see him go back to macclesfield on loan, and whilst I did wonder if Robbie Savage (who waxed lyrical about Edmondson during his loan last season) may have taken him to Forrest Green in the National League, maybe the very top of the National league may be a step too far at this minute. Entirely possible that a good loan in surroundings he knows from last season means a reunion with Savage, or maybe even that he skips level 5 altogether and spends the second half of the season in the EFL

The Wrexham that have surpassed our transfer record this summer? The Wrexham that will likely finish above us this year? Yes it probably is why he's gone there. -

Feels like he should be on a 5th tier loan now really...

Old Codger replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The trouble is, it isn't really a shit league at all - there are plenty of well organised teams who know the ropes, have strength in depth, and who will kick the shit out of the novices and journeymen we now have at our disposal. Woe betide our players' confidence and the general atmosphere around Ewood if and when the blind optimism and eternal faith of the self-annointed begins to be tested on a depressingly regular basis. It might even spiral out of all control... On the other hand, we may be about to witness the greatest feat of managerial wisdom and strategic genius ever seen in the second tier of English football. Imagine if the lads come blazing like footballing gods out of the traps after the international break, sweeping all and sundry before them, invincible and polished like potential pound shop premier league contenders. Which will be all well and good until we go somewhere horrible like Deepdale in the depths of a cold wet November - then just watch how quickly the gloss comes off when that odious knobhead Heckingbottom's turgid collection of zombie cloggers just go, 'Naaahhhh, and put their foot through us' (and we know that we get zero protection from refs, even when we have a few hard lads in the side. Can't see the latter scenario (of miraculous gelling of our smorgasborg of cast-offs) coming off to be fair. We are far more likely to get twatted, than feted. So, this shit league eh? I think we might be reminiscing about the Championship as a cultural haven and paradise lost by this time next year. But don't mind me. I'm just a codger. I've only got 53 years of insight and experience of watching the comings and goings at Ewood to go on - so what would I know? SHADOW SHAIKH OUT! VENKYS OUT! RUDE BOY OUT! -

Ok, thanks for clarifying that he's got a good injury and disciplinary record. I mean, I kind of knew that, that's why I said it, but regardless. You keep saying "two 7th place finishes" as though it proves something about how good he is. Well even if it did, 7th isn't exactly far above mid table anyway, and want to know what his average finish in the championship is? 12th. Out of 24. He's been available all summer for a modest fee on modest wages and he's gone to a club that will probably finish mid table. Sheff United have been pretty desperate for a CB all summer and I bet they didn't even consider him. We could do with a decent enough CB who is always available. We had one, we seemingly couldn't afford to offer him the going rate of pay, so he's gone. It's bad business, but don't kid yourself into thinking he was great, even for this shit league. -
