  2. Sorry tell me where we've improved our squad? Not one player has been upgraded?
  3. I don’t think it’s a stretch at all. Go position for position and tell me where we are weaker both in terms of first team and squad?
  4. Last season proved you don’t need a 20+ goal striker to have a good season. Did anyone even reach double figures in league goals?
  5. Β£250,000,000 would feed the gaza strip and Africa. Sports gone out the game money talks.
  6. I think at a stretch we could say the squad is on a par with last season, IF we replace Dolan (7 goals and 6 assists last season, impressive for non-set piece taker), AND we keep Brittain (unlikely) BUT, we are then just 1 year away from Travis, Hyam, Brittain and Tronstad (lets add Hedges too given he starts more than he doesn't) all leaving on a free transfer - and if that doesn't change soon, then you can bet your bottom dollar the first 4 will all be off next summer - and by god that squad will look like League 1 standard then.
  7. Derby have agreed with the Β£3,000,000 asking price for Brittain, how many is that now gone to Derby Weiman, Batt, Brittain and if you count Owen Beck who was at Ewood last season we will be playing Rovers away at pride park.
  8. Looks like we aren't making a big marquee signing this year, so once again I think we are pinning some hope on one of the players stepping up a gear and becoming the main man. Last season Cantwell was disappointing, but he's got the ability if we can get him playing/find a system that suits him a little better. Ohashi did astonishingly well last season when you consider that he had played a more or less full (?) J league season and then immediately went straight into our team without a break, let alone the cultural shift playing outside of Japan, language barrier etc. - but hopefully after a well earned break and now he's settled in he should be able to kick on. At the moment I don't think we have significantly weakened our first 11 (squad is debatable) - so if either of them can step it up this season and give us an attacking talisman we could be in a stronger position than last season. We need someone to have that one season ala Szmodics, BBD, Armstrong etc. We've got very lucky with this approach since promotion from league 1, the wheels will fall off at some point. If it isn't one of those two I'm not sure who our wild card is, Kargbo maybe?
  9. Blackburn isn't Manchester, and we are certainly not England's 10th city! Friend of mine (Chelsea fan) says Man City have offered Β£149 million for one player (Palmer), which they have rejected, but they will take Β£250 million. The game is corrupted beyond any semblance of decency or morality. So I suppose a player moving from a well supported team in the relative backwaters of the Polish leagues to a second tier shambles for a few Zlotys more is easily explained... And it will, of course, only be a few Zlotys. But as you rightly point out, there is the opportunity to join a far more lucrative gravy train as a result of being in a better shop window. Money. Its a gas.
  10. Is the delay because FF can’t decide on the exact profanities used when Pasha was excoriated? Or is it more mundane than that?
  11. Little Richard - I Don’t Know What You’ve Got ( But It’s Got Me ).
  12. Agree, Endean was terrible but he was only part of the deal. You need to remember Ken Furphy was manager at the time and he loved to wheel and deal. He brought in a couple early doors he had at Watford (Endean and Garbett). Other early Furphy signings from memory included McNamee, Field, Arentoft (Rovers first foreign player?) and Price.
  13. Why would I ask a seemingly hard working (pressing in the 94th minute) to move from Bialystok (Poland's 10th city) to Manchester to work under a manager who's main game plan is to make use of hard working players. For a club who in recent years actively don't stand in the way of ambitious players who want to move by either accepting the first bid (Wharton, Armstrong, Szmodics) or by letting their contracts lapse (Dolan, BBD)?
  14. It’s pretty obvious he wants away from Rovers. It seems to be just a question of when, where to and how much.
  15. We did, they saw us coming there. Rogers was infinitely better.
  16. If you go position to position we are stronger in some and weaker in others. The obvious weaknesses are up front due to the loss of Dolan and Weimann. If we replace those 2 with the mooted RW and AM then the squad is no weaker than last season and in certain areas can be viewed as stronger.
  17. Its 26 or 27 if you dont factor in quality and start padding it out just naming players regardless of it. Leonard is a good example, not someone we can count on. It wouldnt leave us with sufficient quality and depth along the front line.
  18. Well, I am told Brittain will be gone this week and atm, Derby are leading the way. We shall see.
  19. If we bring in 3 more signings that gives you plenty of depth in centre back and centre midfielder areas plus 2 players for every position plus 3th choice keeper. That's squad roughly 26/27 players
  20. Rovers women folding been mentioned on 5 live phone in
  21. I agree, definitely a squad game. Could definitely make an argument that overall it's weaker, at best we'd stand still which is basically going backwards in this game.
  22. Whilst Rovers do not offer massive wages in comparison to Championship teams, they could blow most Polish teams (including his current club) out of the water in terms of what they can offer (even if there is a self imposed cap), also with a much larger shop window for their next move Whilst Capology is far from a perfect metric, Jagiellonia Bialystok (Ekstraklasa) Estimated Total Gross Salaries for the 2025-2026 Season is €3,120,000, or €60,000 per week, not including bonuses. Blackburn Rovers FC's (Championship) Estimated Total Gross Salaries for the 2025-2026 Season is Β£12,146,000, or Β£233,577 per week, not including bonuses.
  23. Today
  24. Never seen so many 'Where's Wallys' in one place at the same time! Perhaps we could play "Where's Rudy' with that crowd? And anyway, if you were that player, why would you swap that set up for ours? Wouldn't make sense in any way shape or form. VENKYS OUT! WHERE'S RUDY?
  25. It's not how it starts it's how it looks a few months in and just like previous seasons mid way once injuries, fatigue etc begins to bite we'll struggle again. It's inevitable with such a low budget and amount of lightweights in the squad so we need a great run of form and many points again before that kicks in.
