Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Dreams of 1995 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Fucking hell give me another Mowbray any day of the week One of the best things to happen to this club under Venkys. He cared and he took on roles that modern coaches like JDT wouldnt Unfortunately I suspect Mowbray’s health has meant he will not be able to do what he did here again. Let’s remember him fondly though - he left this club in a far better state than he found it and was one of the core reasons both JDT and Eustace could have a proper go at it -
Aye and they’re all shite.

I'd probably go for this but we're not scoring with that set up. 0-2. JRC to get MOTM. -
How long until the end of Venkys?
Dreams of 1995 replied to ilian22's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Evidently not. But what’s the overall point you’re making - that everything is futile and nobody should try? If that’s your angle, then it’s a sad angle. It is a view of defeatism. Resigning yourself to the thought that Venkys will never be impacted enough to sell must be tough. You have seen first hand what 15 years has done to Rovers. Now imagine another 15. It is not outside of the realms of possibility that Rovers cease to be a Championship club at that point. We may be in this position, but in League 1. The general trajectory of BRFC tells you that is where we are heading -

As much as new signings, we need a new manager. Every game he's in charge of, is a game closer to relegation. -

The cretins will be positively salivating at the prospect of selling Alebiosu for a big profit 6 months after he joined. Sell him, which alleviates the "burden" of the club off the owners. They have to put less money in, pats on the back all round. -

We can't go a fourth game without even a hint of a goal can we? Can we? Oh yes we can! 0-1 -

Here we go again. Can Rovers actually beat a team in the bottom half, at home?? Feels doubtful. Lose here and Ismael's position becomes completely untenable...at any other club. Rovers 0 - 2 Charlton. -

I think we are miles off it from an attacking sense and have a serious amount of work to do, defensively I think we have enough in the squad to keep us up and the stats show it. I don’t think ohashi is a natural striker I think he’s better in the wide areas or as a 10 so we actually have 1 out and out striker. The window in my opinion should look as follows Out Ribiero, de Neve (loan), forshaw (release) gueye tyjon in 2 x centre forward (1 capable of playing wide) One central midfielder with potential goal threat LWB RWB I think that would cover us for playing a 5 or a 4 in the future. huge lack of pace in the side too so that needs addressing. as for the club if venkys aren’t going to sell they need to completely change the board, I also think the CEO should be somebody qualified and local/ a fan, with a direct line into them. I think that’s the only way they will get any sort of engagement from the fan base now. -

For me - people that care about the club and aren't completely and utterly incompetent would be good.

Correct. You continually fail to acknowledge the root cause of all our issues and continue to make excuses for the club. -
Todd Cantwell - is he off?
DuffsLeftPeg replied to ruggles1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
None of these players are good enough quality for Blackburn Rovers and the level that we should be pushing to get to - ie Top 6 and competing in the play offs. None of them have proven they are the required level consistently in the Championship, either right now or in previous seasons. Wharton should not be considered a key player for example. A few years ago he would be 3rd or 4th choice CB at best. Now he’s a key player? And more often than not he’s injured anyway. Cantwell is a washed up ex Premier League footballer who has yet to prove he can hack it consistently at this level. Quality on his day no doubt about it but hasn’t proven it week in week out. The reason for our current plight is shit recruitment not injuries to so called “key” players. Stop making excuses for the club Chaddy. -

Alebiosu links are a worry, Suhail and Gestede will be delighted, flip him for a 3m profit after just 6 months wages, that's their dream. Would be a disaster to sell him, so basically guarantees we do it anyway... -

I haven't mentioned the owners in my posts on the squad, match days or transfers. Venkys's apologist? utter and truly bizarre comment to make but each to their own. I won't over reaction to people who posted that sort of comment to myself. I just ignore it, I'm not going to get into an argument with you what's the point anymore. Its clear what I am, is diehard passionate Rovers fan. Time I take a break from this forum now and lets you all get on with it now -

I know why these players werent selected or brought on. I am not saying that they should have been, I am saying that they werent because they are one of numerous examples of terrible recruitment. My point is that the squad is nowhere near good enough. And you are just bending over backwards to defend the club. -

If Ismael had a brain cell, he would have the Rovers team on the training ground. If Charlton play direct football, we should play cathedral them on the break tactics. -

I think the tried and tested method is to ADD new blood and test it out, then, either move it on or trust it and incorporate it into the EXISTING team structure. I'm not sure that selling the whole team and starting from scratch by signing a bus load of unknowns from second tier foreign leagues is the best approach. The majority of our signings aren't at the required level and yet they now make up almost the whole team. We bought well at RWB. We did well previously with Toth, Cantwell and Tronstad it's true but every other one has failed. ADEQUATE is the very best that can be claimed for SOME of the purchases the majority just don't have it. The selling of the 'family silver' last year was utter hubris and was essentially betting the house on the flip of a coin. It hasn't worked. We are in deep do-do and the best we can hope for is survival. If the players weren't good enough this year they won't be the next. Project after project after project! When will they ever produce anything worth getting excited about. I repeat, in answer to your challenge, who will sign for us in January and who is at the required level and is uninjured and ready to go. Answer: nobody. We don't even have enough cash to bribe someone with high wages. Time to smell the coffee dude. -

Blackburn Rovers, have had a 6 figure bid, for Barnsley striker Clearly rejected. We need to make it top priority, bringing in a striker from the January transfer window, after yesterday's toothless display up front.
