Those 2 were also relegated from the league we are currently in, and Brittain in particular had shown that he was very capable at this level. The question is how inferior the Belgian league is, we signed Gueye who had also been relegated from that level and he has struggled. Obviously none of us know who this player is, or if he will even sign. So we dont know if he is one of the better players for his current team. The curious thing would be what type of player he is. He seems to have played a mixture of left back/wing back/left midfield, and he clearly isnt a wide man who has offered much of a goal threat. We need attacking players who can improve our attacking threat which let us down last year. On paper and on the face of it, it seems unclear whether this guy would do that. -

Things will start to move one way or the other after June 30th when several first team contracts expire: - Domestic clubs can make official offers to sign Dolan, Weimann, Batth on a free. I'm dicounting whatever compensation fee we might get from Dolan since his current market valuation will probably exceed that by at least 5x. - Rival Championship clubs will probably make cheeky bids for any of Travis, Tronstad or Brittain to see if we are in desperate need of cash. I bet a lot of the teams are alerted of our situation given what happened to Eustace and might decide to raid the club for cheap assets. Any of the newcomers Wrexham or Birmingham can see it as an "easy" way of getting proven, experienced players at this level without paying over the top. Good deals are often done early in the window to avoid competing bids later on. Desperate (and often poor) deals are done later in the window when your primary targets have decided to join another club. We often act late because: - We are looking for the cheapest deals possible, not necessarily the best ones. - We can't offer decent wages to free agents because that will reduce whatever transfer budget we might operate within. - Transfer budget will remain constant regardless of player sales, meaning quality of squad is likely to decrease as the seasons go by. - We seems to operate on a salary transfer budget rather than having actual transfer money available to spend, meaning we have to sell players first before buying any. Happened last season with the sales of e.g. Gallagher and Wahlstedt for Gueye and Toth. - If we sell a highly-rated player relatively late in the window, we often fail to find a suitable replacement due to the budget constraints mentioned previously (examples: Szmodics and Wharton). -

If De Neve is true hopefully it's as a defensive LM option rather than having to play Hedges there -
A proper captain and a proper man. To think we picked him up on a free. Sparky's scouting setup knew their stuff.

So you think aside from one off changes to our recruitment team, which seem to happen far too often but ignoring that. You think that otherwise, there are no issues in how we are run and the timing of our transfers isnt affected by our owners and board, for example meeting well after the season ends often in India to sort the budget? -

If as one or two suspect a lot of the money comes from a huge borrowing facility secured against fixed assets over there it makes one wonder how long it would be before the bank stepped in and called the shots. That could be very painful for us. -
I specifically said that a trophy makes a more memorable season. Tottenham had a more memorable season than Arsenal and City. It doesnt mean that Ange should then have a guaranteed future at the club and Arteta and Pep shouldnt. But I also dont think that winning thatt trophy automatically wipes out how badly theyve done across the season in terms of whether Ange is the person to take them on. Juande Ramos also won a trophy more than Pochettino and co. Im not sure hes remembered too much anymore.

England stroll through every qualification group, they are literally strolling through this one. Means bugger all as the vast majority of the time, for the big nations, tournament qualifying is no longer ‘competitive’ due to so many small European sides just making up the numbers in groups and so many tournament places up for grabs due to expanded competitions. We’ll see next summer if Tuchel has brought anything. Just scrap the qualifiers and merge it into the Nations League, all a waste of time, and the players know it.

After which he should have been potted. Massively outstayed his welcome after that.

That seems the most likely outcome. Not because they can't send funds but they refuse to send them under the current restrictions out of principle. As such they need to sell up ASAP or we've had it. Even if they do might already be too late to prevent a long barren period far worse than what we've already witnessed so bare is the cupboard. -

Chaddy generally I don't get involved in this bollocks, because half the time the people arguing profusely with you are the other side of the same coin, but Sammie and Brittain were top performers in their relegated teams. This guy isn't a top performer. He's left wing with 5 goal involvements in a season. -

It is a little bit worrying, if you pick Jordan Henderson at this stage you deserve all you get. However, he's been brought in to try and win a tournament. That's all that really matters. He needs to at least reach the semi final to match Southgate. Probably if you're a big Southgate fan you'll be jumping up and down at these irrelevant performances and results. If like me you couldn't stand Southgate you'll be a bit more philosophical about the situation recognising it's only how we do at the World Cup which really counts.

Maybe they hold onto all the bonds/guarantees and properties until the whole investigation is cleared and closed. In which case there is little to no chance of future funds. -

I don't rate Ismael particularly but do we think it's round about now he's starting to realise he's been sold a pup? Probably needs the work in the meantime though until he can find something else. -
I’ve had time to take stock….. We beat a Ski Resort 1-0…… This has to be one of the worst England results since conceding to San Marino in 1993? Worrying.

firstly, I ain't be defensive one bit but trying to explained when transfer happened last summer and not a lot of signings are made in May/first week of June. So you don't know anything about this player then. We were slow last season cos you have complete overhaul of the recruitment and scouting team. Park, Gestede and Owen came in and we still signed some quality players. -

The UEFA cup was often considered to be the toughest to win due to the fact it had more than one team from the stronger leagues and some of those teams were on the rise at the time. Of course those teams are now in the Champions League instead! -

My lad says his pace is 81 on Fifa if that means anything. If he joins hopefully it's as an attacking player rather than another left back. Who knows with this circus though. -

There is no need to be so defensive. I have never heard of him no, I am just saying that IF he signs, that it would be the second time that Gestede has signed someone that has been relegated from the Belgian league. I didnt pass comment on my opinion of that. Our club is run terribly and more often than not, we are slow, there are often delays getting budgets agreed etc, beyond the usual fact that a big chunk of transfers are done beyond the start of pre season. We were particularly slow last season too. Broughton seemed to be more proactive both in terms of transfers and contract extensions but has now gone. My comments on us being slow was more of a general comment under this terrible ownership and board. You dont have to constantly plead for patience and defend the club constantly, often missing the point, so repeatedly. -
Didn't answer one single question, what a surprise. I would have stick by Ange and back him. Haven't I been more than crystal clear about them. Ange promised he delivered a trophy and he did. A day Spurs fans will never forget and Ange will go down as a hero in Spurs history more than Pochettino or Mourinho will
