Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Going into the season we still had 4 strikers. Gudjohnson, Ohashi ,Gueye and Tjyon Now the last two haven't played much but it was certainly the clubs plan to have Tjyon involved more when they thought he might sign And Gueye opportunities were limited but when he did get them he was shit Ismael may well have wanted another forward but the club could have said no when we are carrying 4 already Like I said to RevidgeBlue he asked for 2 now and rhus far the club haven't delivered them -

We all actually watched them. We all actually watched them score zero goals over a shockingly long period. We also watched Gueye score 8 in a similar number of games. Comparing them is a non starter. I don't care about their all round games, which weren't all that they're built up to be, when you are a pair of strikers who didn't score across nearly 70 games, you're worse than one who scored 8 in a similar period. And this ignores that Gueye did cause problems for teams at times when he didn't score, especially coming off the bench. Also you say you doubt the appearances would back it up, which I think is you saying their managers backed them more. Gueye only played 3 less games for us than the two of them put together. Despite only being here for less time than Chris Brown was. -

Gueye fee was undisclosed, however, rumours are that it was £1.8m. If accurate, that would represent a slight profit on him, which is more than what we all expected we'd get for him. Bank it, learn from it, spend it (hopefully!). -

Bollocks total classic BRFCS revisionism again. You wouldn't want any of them but if they were here now they'd absolutely have been in the team before him do to other things they contributed. He plundered a few goals last season but has done jack all else in his time here and couldn't even figure out what offside was. He's so much better than them he's been bombed out to a tinpot outpost league. Honestly some people on here can't see further than their own hooters at times, not a personal dig by the way. -

Can't say I agree with that. Literal bull in a china shop that seemingly had no control over his own body at any time I saw him play. Scored a couple sure, but up there with the absolute worst players I've seen in a Rovers shirt in his general play. Now, if Eustace had continued with him that may have changed, but we'll never know. . -

I'd say he was marginally better than Gallagher. (Which isn't a compliment but still) -

That’s where he is referring to. We need another, independent source, let’s check with Howard over on twitter -

Mercer posted it on here in another topic. Where have you seen this rumour? -
Part of me wants Carrick to do well. The fans will clamour for him to be appointed full time, the owners will fold and give it to him. Then next season they'll be crap again, restarting the cycle. Speaking of "knowing the club" Wayne Rooney is throwing his name out there asking for a job; ESPN: Rooney would coach at Man U. He also gave a shout out to Roy Keane. I say sign them both up. What could go wrong? Keane, who hasn't managed a team for years, and Rooney who lasted less than half a season at both Brum and Plymouth before being sacked are the perfect people to keep Man U mired in mediocrity.

He was nowhere near as bad as Brown or Varney for us, he wouldn’t be in the top 10 worst strikers we’ve had overall given his albeit modest return last season. -

Where's the source "an offer has been made?" (Apart from Mercer's post last night) No offence Merce - would just like to see some official corroboration! -

With the striker situation, I think the squad wasnt built to play with 2. Ismael did in particular endorse Morishita (and also De Neve) to play out wide but one isnt a winger and one isnt a footballer so those plans had to change. -

Nah both contributed more in terms of play than he was ever capable of i'm afraid. Of course strikers are judged on goals but their jobs were foil for Rhodes and the others, Gueye couldn't even foil the linesman's flag. I'd put either of those in this team before him without doubt because he couldn't even manage the 'defensive striker' role under Ismael. -

My understanding is you can switch up the 25 man squad as much as you want during January. You still need to comply with the home grown rules etc. -

Just purely on the striker point, he turned over 23 players in and out in the summer. It's his responsibility that he only left us with 2 serviceable strikers. -

Regardless of how serious or how far along this is, it is the collateral we have been waiting for and need. LET and BBC Sport Lancs need to be pressured into requesting a response from the club (at the very least). Coalition - can you put on socials that offer has been made - we need this to be known publicly. This would completely dispel the idea that 'no one has enquired' and tighten the loose around Pasha (figuratively speaking!!) to respond. Even better we actually get a new owner. Can you imagine..... -

Tomphil2 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well i actually watched them and despite both being less goal threat they were all round more capable team players than this lad. If he was so much more of a player than those two i doubt the appearances and any other stats aside from a few goals back it up. Fortunately for the other two their managers judged them on different metrics because we already had goals in the team. -

RevidgeBlue replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Not defending them but wasn't there an additional sum due of £4m or £5m after a certain period and they also assumed responsibility for the overdraft which I think stood at around £15m at the time. So the overall exposure initially was around £40m in reality I thought. -

Or gestede said we didn't need another striker Or the funds weren't there for another striker Or the recruitment side couldn't find the right striker You think he enjoys having no forward? He has said in the media he wants 2 strikers in January .Where are they? Is that his fault aswell that thus far we have only added a loan defender and its mid January? I think you are being totally daft laying the blame for recruitment at the managers door -
