Honestly it's like Gestede did all his training playing Football Manager. Flogged all his high earners and thinks he's picked up some bargains on the continent. Unfortunately, this is real life and we're now screwed. Not content with just doing it as a player, he's followed it up with a doozy.

I have a pretty good idea

Only one and a half seasons ago. January 2024. Drubbed them 4-1 even though we went 1-0 down early. Difference is they're properly ran. Their owners also came over knowing fuck all about football, but there were 2 key, massive differences, evident from the documentary: 1) They appointed good football people to run the club for them (whereas ours immediately ostracised possibly the best operator in English football at the time) 2) They gave a shit. This meant they paid attention, they learned, they had ambition. End result? Blackburn Rovers - relegated promptly, stagnated and declined. Not even reached the playoffs to take us back to where they found us, not once in 15 years of ownership despite having the basis of a proper stadium, history, training centre etc. Wrexham - 5 years of ownership, started 4 whole leagues below where we started in Venkys' reign, or 3 leagues below us when the Americans took over. Have caught us up and are now snatching our best CB on deadline day, leaving us fucked. Probably finish above us this season. Despite run-down tiny stadium, fuck all history and just being (relative to us) a tinpot outfit when they took over. Proper ownership is EVERYTHING.

We’ll be in Umbro though if that’s the brand they are pushing…not sure if they’re made in the same factory mind you 😆

I know its part of his gig and he’s essentially a Rovers yes-man, but surely to fuck he ought to be the voice of the supporters and ask what the bloody thinking behind this one was.

Another tragic leaving interview, talks about wanting to "come back where I belong" which is probably why Suhail and co were so keen to offload him. I did not personally rate him but I know some did, and I always have time for an academy lad/fan of the club. Even JRC/Buck/Trav were Rovers lads and probably needed purged because of that, regardless of a debate over their quality. Tearing the soul out the club once again, it is literally 2016/17 all over again... (not that much/any of the last 15 years has been good...)

There were rumours about Taylor Gardner-Hickman - not seen anything suggesting it's happened, though. Might be the club keeping it quiet. Didn't see anyone else linked. Looks like the club have pocketed the Hyam cash and are fine with letting even more Championship experience walk out the door. After our blistering start to the season I suppose they think we can cope with it.
