The January 2026 Transfer Window
G Somerset Rover replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
From targeting a player who their club value at £5m to one who will likely cost around the £1m mark. Life under Venky's, Pasha and Rudy. As I say, I'm convinced they're just shrugging their shoulders at this stage with life in League One looming. -

If Millwall are also in for him, it's a no brainer for the lad. He won't come here to get relegated for less money. I suspect we don't but we'd better have some alternatives lined up. -

Hello JPT, Condolences on your loss - we miss our mothers more than we anticipate, once they have gone... Do you know what school she went to? Was she Catholic or CoE? Mine was CoE, born in 1938 and went to St Hilda's (now St. Wilfrids). I'm sure there must be other Rovers fans on here of similar vintage to us (I'm in my 60s). The game must have been early to mid 1950s, I guess, based on your mum's year of birth. Different times, eh?! OC -

You log on everyday just for another small bit of hope to die when absolutely no news on incomings is apparent... Oh for a modern trio of Mimms, Dobson and Livingstone to get us over the line... -

Okay Rovers history experts, can you help solve a family mystery for us? My mother has sadly recently passed away. In her youth she was a proper Rovers fan - born in 1942. Whilst she was at school, she organised for herself and friends to climb out of the classroom window to skip school and watch an important Rovers match? Other schools had been given the time off for it - but as mum went to a girls schools, they decided it wasn't for them. As the ringleader she was expelled when she returned the day afterwards! Any ideas? -

Let's be honest Wednesday are going to try to get as much as possible for whoever right now (obviously that goes without saying when selling players) but even more so now than ever for them -
I can't see him moving in this window... Palace have already had to sell lots of players, so they aren't desperate, so even if Wharton was keen to explore options (I can't see him demanding move, not his style) they would probably price him out of a move (for now) - plus with the terrible run Palace are on, he has hardly been in the 'shop window'.

Shearer was (surprisingly) physical - defenders seemed to bounce off him. Not necessarily hard, but off the scale looking for trouble - El Hadji Diouf or Paul Dickov. Andy Todd always looked like he would explode at any random moment. Oh, and Souness in training - didn't he take out a few of our players? -

Millwall have also had a bid rejected it seems more a case of sheff wed valuing him higher than most others do which is fair enough in their position -

Can't even sign a player from a cash-strapped club in administration, heading into League One. Absolute state of this club. -

I fully agree. They seem almost overly confident that we will surivive once we get some more bodies back. There have been some better teams than this one that have suffered relegation before. Who's to say we won't suffer another injury crisis? It happens every season... -

Yeah I watch The Big Match revisited Saturday mornings on itv 4 ( I think) , and the age in particular of the refs is laughable compared to the super fit ones of today. They all look in their 60's😄 -

They certainly wouldn't be baulking at paying tariffs on sending money over here if they had that sort of wealth. In fact i'd say even that lot could've got us into the Prem by now if they had that much to chuck around. Also there is no actual evidence of vast land ownership though i'd presume seeing as the VH group invested a lot in the Lavasa cock up they probably do own some of that land. - Today

All we are doing is hoping to exploit Sheffield Wednesday's financial situation and tempt them to sell Cadamerteri to us on the cheap. Some might call that good business (if it works) but I don't see a plan or a prioritisation of results, league position, urgent issues. All I see is them hoping to pick up a player on the relative cheap who they see an opportunity to polish up and sell on for a profit. That isn't the business we should be in. Our Championship status is slipping through our fingers and they are still mucking around with the 'project' to make profits and presumably percentages. -

Millwall also bid for Cadamateri. I think we can rule ourselves out then as players only come here when they have no other options. -

If there are other teams in for Cadamarteri then I can't see him ending up at Rovers. Millwall supposedly have had a bid rejected now, so wouldn't be surprised if they go back in with another if that was their first bid. -

1 defeat in 10 competitive games for Hull, 1 win in 14 competitive games for Rovers, on paper it looks like they wil steam roll us. I don't think we'll get stuffed, I think it will be a narrow, ugly win for Hull. As others have said though, it's got to the stage where every single home game is now a 'must win' and bar an unusual event like a sending off for Hull, I can't see us overpowering them in 90 mins. -

Refereeing standards being much more stringent and games being closely televised. You can’t get away with anything these days. Watch the Chelsea v Leeds FACup replay from around 1970 to get an idea of the game could be back then. -

I'd suggest that if their personal wealth went up into the tens of billions then we would know about it - they'd be regularly ranked by Forbes and other experts as among the richest families in the world - not just India. When you have that sort of wealth it is impossible to hide, no matter how secretive or private you are, just look at some of the names on the world rich lists and yeah, it's not an exact science but it's still a reasonable basis to work from. This lot have next to no profile. No wikipedia pages, no appearances in rich lists, they're not very well known. So I find it really hard to believe they are worth that sort of money. A net worth of a couple of billion I expect is the most they get to and once you tie a lot of that up in land and shares when you are sending cash to the tune of £20 million a year to a black hole in NW England it must be having an impact they are uncomfortable with. Their approach over the last few years suggests they are. -

Don’t think Cadamarteri has ‘less’ potential the issue is we need something for ‘now’ and Cadamarteri for me doesn’t fit the bill in an idea world given his age and not needing registered we get him and another 9 but that’s beyond realistic with this lot
