I think Sav's comments are toward the management team and maybe one or two of the directors, and should be viewed in that context. I think that the fans voted him player of the season one year didn't they?

Savage is one of the most influential players in our team and he is the kind of player you need.

Granted he is not the most technically gifted player but he would be one of the first name on the team sheet for me each week.

Donnelly/Danns . they are not good enough to hack it in the Championship.

Savage is probably the third most influential player in our team behind Tugayand Fridel. I think he deserves this extension. He is a very useful player to have at the club.

I actually think, especially at this time with Reidy injured, Savage is the most important member of the first team. He's ageing, which is the only possible reason I can see why we should in fact sell him, but he'd probably do a job for any team in the Premiership with his tireless running. Those who don't see his value for Blackburn Rovers are ignorant.
